Congrats! I've had my ST3 for a little over a month now and am also working on adding some small mods. Here's what I've done so far and what's coming:

  • Ford emblem and ST emblem decals from TFB designs. Inexpensive vinyl overlays that are minor modifications but can greatly improve/personalize the overall look of your car IMO. Very easy to install.

  • Floor mats: Findway F518 3D all weather floor mats (front and rear) and WeatherTech cargo liner for the hatch. Opted to go with Findway mats because they blend in really well with the interior of the car. Looks like carpet but they're all weather and have a lip like Husky and WeatherTech mats to contain dirt/water. Can be hosed off just like the other all weather mats and are custom fit for the interior as well. Personally I feel like the Husky and WeatherTech mats look too out of place in an ST... More like they belong in a truck or SUV. Also, Findway mats are a great deal due to the poor Canadian exchange rate. About $93 shipped to my door for front and rear set. I did go for WeatherTech in the cargo area, though, so I could eventually add their CargoTech containment system. Very similar to what I had in my VW and I found those very useful.

  • Auto dimming mirror with Homelink: swapped the stock mirror with a Gentex GENK40A mirror. Not having to clip a garage remote and having an auto dimming mirror were big convenience features that I felt like should have been included with this car. Good thing the install was pretty easy to do. Just needed to buy an add a fuse kit and route the wires along the headliner down the passenger A pillar.

  • Garageline accelerator pedal spacer (on its way to me): for some reason the accelerator pedal on the Focus ST sits about 1-2" further back than the brake and clutch. Makes it difficult to heel toe. This spacer solves that problem and also offers lateral adjustment if you want your accelerator pedal closer or further from the brake pedal.

  • Breedt quick shift arm (on its way to me): the throws seem quite long and maybe a little vague when stock on this car, and I wanted something that would shorten and tighten it up. This shift arm offers some customizability from 25-40% throw reduction as well as moving the neutral position forward slightly from stock. I like the thought of this arm versus plates that are available from other companies because it doesn't add stress to the shifter cables since the linkage is on the same plane as stock. Looking forward to this one since obviously you handle the shifter daily so this will make the biggest impact on overall driving.

Eventually I will add some tint, and maybe think about an exhaust since I don't care much for the stock tips and would like a bit sportier sound.

> There is not a good place to mount a phone in these cars.

I think where mine is mounted next to the hazard button is a near perfect spot. The phone isn't blocking anything on the dash and I don't have to take my hand off the shift knob to choose tracks or whatever on the phone screen. Facetime and Face ID work well from there and if my girlfriend is in the car I just angle it parallel to the surface of the dash and it's in a good spot for us both to see Waze.

I have that Spigen case with the built in recess for the metal plate and I had quite a few issues with it. It's way too thin to protect against anything except scratches and even then the top and bottom edges of the phone are completely exposed. Plus all the edges are kinda sharp so they dig into your hand when you spend more than just a few seconds browsing on the phone. It was also listed as screen protector friendly but it turns out it only worked well with the Spigen protector which didn't go all the way to the edges of my screen. When I switched to a full coverage protector I had to ditch that case for good.

I tried 3 or 4 iPhone X cases before settling on this one. Nice and grippy with great bumper protection against drops without adding too much bulk and the clear back still shows off your phone. I just slapped a plate right on the outside for my mounts (I have like 6-7 scattered around my house, work, and cars) and it actually ended up looking pretty cool.

I just hard wired my dash cam over the weekend. Surprisingly easy to do. You need an interior panel remover tool and pliers or fuse removal tool to remove a fuse, but that's pretty much it. I ran mine through the headliner(just stuffed it in neatly), down the passenger A pillar and through to the fuse box. Connected the ground to the ground bolt near/under the running plate. Took me and my friend an hour because I was so scared of breaking something removing the interior pannels. You absolutely need the panel tool imo. Dashcam turns on and off with the car 👌

edit: the wires I used. It's a direct replacement for any 15A fuse (no add-a-circuit needed), I used the fuse for the fog lights and just threw that 15A fuse in my tool box in case it's needed in the future. I had quite a bit of slack left over so I just zip-tied it into a neat wad and kept it above the fuse box. I also used some foam to stuff into the panel right below the A-pillar, I'm not sure what that part is called, but there's a lot of room in there and I didn't want any rattle noise coming from a free floating wire in there.

These are the fogs I put in my car.

I don't know much about reputable lighting brands, but mine had good reviews and I believe someone commented about them having a better cooling method than many others, or something like that..

I'm very happy with them. Tbh the fogs in our cars don't seem to make the biggest difference ever when it comes to lighting up the road, but these help a tiny bit and the color is a greenish yellow, so they stand out a bit and look great imo.

Since I've had this car, I've run a Lightning cable from the center console. It definitely worked, but I hate clutter and loose cables. I had a spare wireless charging stand and thought to put it in the cupholder, but mine had too large of a base to fit. Went on Amazon, looked at charging stands' base dimensions, and thought this one would fit. Well, it didn't sit flush against the bottom, but it's wedged in at an angle and doesn't move, so not too bad!

I did buy a right-angle micro USB cable so that the base has as much room as possible to be pushed in snuggly, and with that everything seems pretty secure! Surprisingly my iPhone 8 does not slide around at all when I'm driving. I even bought some Sugru thinking I'd need to form side rails along the charger, but there hasn't been a need.

Before this I was looking at getting the Euro cup holder module just so I could route my charging cable in there and keep everything hidden, but the price and that installation definitely made me consider other options. And luckily this one works!

Here's another shot from the side

Got it on amazing for about $10, quality is great and it looks super clean. I wasn't ready to take off my front license plate entirely and have drilled holes. I also didn't want my stock license plate in front. This is a happy median for me lol.

I currently use this cover and this harness with one of the seatbelt hooks that connects the harness to one of the seat belts for my five month old Newfoundland puppy.

It works pretty well and it's made from a super durable fabric. The only downside is that it doesn't have any sides to protect the doors or stop him from going into the floorboards, my biggest issue is that he likes to slip between the door and the side of the hammock to get to the floorboard.

I have a coworker that has a GTI and the seat hammock that he has for his car does have sides, I'll ask him where he got it and I'll post a link once I find out.

No none at all. It's honestly the perfect amount of noise. Loud enough for me when I want it, but quiet when I want it quiet.

The bov I have is www.amazon.com/Turbosmart-TS-0203-1061-Blow-Off-Valve/dp/B00IGWW5UC

Very easy install. Placement of BOV is behind front right wheel.

u/the4thmatrix · 2 pointsr/FocusST

To add to what others have said, yes it's absolutely possible. If you want plug-and-play functionality without error codes you'll need to reprogram the BCM to accept the HIDs. This is easily done with a OBD-II reader tool (like this one) and the Focccus app.

u/Gorky1 · 2 pointsr/FocusST

They're nice filters. Super cheap on amazon with next day shipping as an add-on item.
https://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-FL400S-Oil-Filter/dp/B000AS3D42/

That, with full synthetic oil at $28, makes my oil change just over $31.

u/llTHEMANll · 5 pointsr/FocusST

$30 to buy them. $30 for the dealership to put them in. They don’t quite match exactly. Would be interested in other bulbs that match a little more. But for this price I am very happy.

These are LED bulbs that switch between white and this yellow. They were very cheap but for the cost they have been amazing.

Takes less than 5mins to do. You need an obd2 to usb cable(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N18TOFB?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf), and The Focccus program(http://ford.xtlt.ru/FoCCCus/).

Turbosmart TS-0203-1061 Blow-Off... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IGWW5UC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The dual port shortie is the 100% recirculating BOV. There is no ventilation into the atmosphere so you will not get the “pshhhh” sound when you close the throttle.
