Lol accidentally deleted my response, but sorry for the late response. Here's the build I came up with. This will be good for fortnite and other daily tasks you would normally do on a computer. It's similar to what I have now just some different brands and a better SSD. Its also good enough to run most AAA titles on pretty good settings too if you want to play some other titles in the future. You can find a different case if you want because most of them are pretty affordable and you can find one in any color you want. Just make sure it's at least a midtower so it'll fit your motherboard. You'll still need a 144hz monitor which will run you about $200 here's the one I use. Then you'll just need a mouse and keyboard. I recommend for a good budget mechanical keyboard the K552 as for the mouse just find one that you like which should be less than $50 unless you go with a newer one I recommend a logitech mouse or a razer. Like I said before I would go to a microcenter if you have one near you because odds are you'll be able to find some cheaper prices than whats listed on pcpartpicker. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I switched from console for better framerate since I didn't care about "next-gen" 4k graphics at 30fps. I quit controller cold turkey and never looked back. Unfortunately, there is a high barrier to entry so I like to help people switch and have a good experience instead of pure frustration and end up reverting back to using a controller.

  1. After you've decided on your keybinds, watch a video on build techniques and practice the ones you want a few times each day. Then there are discords that host FFA game modes in creative to practice fighting others without having to queue, loot and farm, die, repeat. I actually think the latest storm wars maps are close to realistic and more fun than Champs arena games, so it's the only thing I've played outside of WC competitions lately. Kovaak's is a popular "game" on steam used to train your aim specifically.

  2. I think you're right, blindly copying 1 person is not be the best strategy. But, changing muscle memory is hard and pyramid is considered one of the best builds in the current meta imo, so you should try to get used to using all 4 or it might become harder later. I use Q(wall), E(ramp), C(floor), V(roof) for my builds using my thumb C and V (this was hard to get used to but worth it imo). Consider turning on sprint by default and using left shit for edit. CTRL is crouch and R is reload in every single game I play. I also recommend getting a big mouse pad and setting your sensitivity low if you want to get truly good aim.

This keybinding philosophy guide is pretty decent at describing the reasoning behind choosing certain keybinds over others.

I also highly recommend using these scroll wheel keybinds many of which could definitely be considered unfair advantage.

  3. This is a good segue into my final piece of advice. Unfortunately if you haven't noticed, Epic Games does not seem to care what happens to the "competitive" scene of Fortnite and they definitely don't care about optimizing the game for PC... So I doubt any of those features are coming anytime soon. I recommend also getting into another game like CSGO, Apex Legends, or Halo on PC when it launches to help practice general mnk mechanics as well. Public Fortnite matches will likely just frustrate you until you've built up some muscle memory (estimated 2-4 weeks to get back to your level on controller if you practice daily).

Feel free to dm me if you have more questions.

https://www.amazon.com/HotHands-2016-Warmers-20-Pair/dp/B0190WQEO4/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=hot+hands&qid=1551307125&s=gateway&sr=8-13

Buy bulk box of these... One works really well for an entire session of playing. My hands also get ice cold. I found keeping my feet warm tends to help with my hands too... but sometimes my hands are just cold all on their own.

I use the hand warmer whenever I'm not in the thick of things... like if I'm just auto running I'll grab the hand warmer for like 10-15 seconds and it helps.

Value mouse wise, a gpro wired + paracord + hyperglides is still cheap, and the g305 is also fantastic bang-for-your-buck. The new lightspeed wireless mice (g305, GPW) are indistinguishable from wired, latency wise. I also have the glorious odin on pre-order, and everything i've read from people that have gotten to test it indicates that it'll be a top-of-the-line mouse.

Value keyboard wise: the magicforce 60% is like a ducky without any of the bells or whistles for $40

The cheapest high quality mouse is, in my opinion at least, the Model O. A crappy mouse will make high level aiming nearly impossible, so I wouldn’t cheap out on that.

For keyboards, as long as it doesn’t have ghosting issues, it’ll be fine. I used this one up until recently and it never really caused my any issues, but if you wanna go with something cheaper that’s not a problem.

For mousepads, you can find decently sized relatively cheap ones anywhere, I currently have [this one](SteelSeries QcK Gaming Surface - Large Cloth - Best Selling Mouse Pad of All Time - Optimized For Gaming Sensors - Maximum Control https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVRU6G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aIhYDbPVEHSKJ) which is both a great size and relatively cheap, but there are tons just like it as well if you look around.

Check these out: SADES SA-807 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5CMY6O?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf Been using them for half a year now and for 22$ they are absolutely amazing. Really clear sound, great mic. 100% would recommend
Edit: I know a lot of people here love to buy the headphones that the streamers use but these headphones are absolutely amazing for 22$ which, if you’re a student, is an amazing price for a student that has to pay off college. The only down side is that they are not wireless but i got used to it and the wire doesn’t really bother you while playing anyways

This is what I got and I love it. It had one stuck pixel but I wiped it with a microfiber cloth and it goes away. Otherwise it's great quality for a 27" 144hz at a pretty good price. That's if you're not dead set on 1440p tho.

Not sure, but Power A made a new controller called the 'Power A Fusion Pro'. Havent seen much about it though cause its new, so idk if the quality is good considering it is $80. I know their Switch Pro Controller alternative is popular and good quality though.

Edit: here it is on amazon

Edit 2: apparently they also make a controller with 2 buttons on the back as well thats only $40

It’s a decent monitor but it’s not worth it. It’s 180 bucks for 75hz. The response time is 1ms, which is good. However, a 100 dollar ips monitor will be better for console. My acer r241y has 4ms response time, but the input lag is only 10ms (60fps means each frame is 16ms, so there is no ghosting)

Pretty much, for console, it isn’t worth it to get a “gaming” monitor. I’d recommend this one, it is cheaper. Also it is still much better than a tv. My kd went from 3-5ish this season just because of the monitor

At the price of the ASUS, you can get a 144hz monitor, and then you won’t need to buy a new monitor if you ever get a pc

ASUS VG248QE 24" Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms HDMI Gaming Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HAo2BbRQV489K

I have this monitor and it’s absolutely perfect. Nickmercs also uses this monitor.
If you wait till Black Friday Best Buy will probably have it on sale for $200 (that’s when I got mine and what the price was)

If you want a prebuilt, which I wouldn’t recommend, I would go for CyberPower, IBuyPower or if I were you I’d buy This and make a few upgrades. It’s truly a very good desktop for gaming.

u/kekdifj · 1 pointr/FortniteCompetitive

This is the monitor I have. The monitor size (24 inches) is really good for competitive and has a really good res for competitive (1920x1080) because it’s a fairly high res but it’s still easy to keep track of everything on your screen.

Just chiming in here, I just barely upgraded my 60hz old thing to this 144hz. It is a good one if you want low cost and don't care about still just being 1080p. I'm loving it and there are lots of good reviews out there on it.

I included cooling fans (5 of them) in the part list. And you’ll need to buy a WiFi adapter. You can buy a USB one or a PCI one that will plug into your motherboard right under your graphics card. A PCI one will provide a better connection than a USB one. I’d only do that if a wired Ethernet connection isn’t an option though, I have to use a WiFi connection (no Ethernet available) and rarely see ping below 50.

Edit: JK I actually didn't include the cooling fans in that part list, here's the link
