I love this phone. I've had the s3, s4, s5active and s6 edgeplus now have the s9.

I got a Supcase because I felt like I was going to break the phone and it was honestly kind of a pain to try and watch videos because my fingers would get in the way but the case added just enough area to grip. I also saw that my niece had one of those PopSocket things so I got one and it's actually pretty effing sweet.

Helps watching videos, taking pictures, great for one handed use it's really a good purchase IMO.

Phone overall is the shit. Great screen, great speakers/headphones, battery life is awesome, after I watched some videos I made a few adjustments over the last month and it's just cool as shit.

Part of me wishes I would have opted for the s9+ or even the Note but I'm happy for now.

So you have the exynos version? I dont think i mentioned this, but the phone is an unlocked version (snapdragon): https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S9-Unlocked-Smartphone/dp/B079H6RLKQ?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_PC_c7692567_&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1

And looking at my return history, the previous GS7 i had was an AT&T preloaded, but GSM unlocked phone. So maybe i should give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it was AT&Ts apps that were using the battery. But i did also originally ask if updates are pushed out by the carrier or samsung on an unlocked phone, assuming an AT&T SIM is installed. Do you happen to know? im not under a contract, im on a prepaid plan, hence the reason for the unlocked phones. im definitely capable of swallowing the pride of not being able to uninstall facebook etc., but not the battery life issue. I just hope amazon doesnt get pissed at me for returning second 300$ phone.

My girl and I are huge fans of Spiggen's "liquid air" cases for both of our S9s, and our S8s last year. They're slim enough, there's enough space between the side bezels and case for a screen protector to NOT get f***ed up from rubbing against the case, they look fairly minimalist, and they're inexpensive to boot. Because the loop around the top and bottom bezel is raised, it's saved my ass as I've dropped both my S9 and S8 face first on multiple occasions without a scratch or crack... Like, pretty nasty drops.
In case you're interested, here's the link on Amazon:

I've heard good things about the Whitestones or whatever they're called, but that's a lot of money for something you may mess up installing (people get nervous, or don't do it on 100% flat space, or they rush it), so I I've been apprehensive about purchasing them, and instead just get flexible film screen protectors and swap them out every few months. This is worked well for us, though it does feel a little rubbery and you know obviously it's not 100% clear like the glass protectors are. Delta Sheild makes these (I'm sure they're just about the same as everybody else that sells the thin film protectors that "self-heal", but they have excellent customer service and lifetime warranty for literally anything. You screw up the installation, or just get scratched up over the course of months, whatever... No matter the reason, they replace it for free of charge with no questions asked, and they always send you 2 per pack.

u/defknife · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

The one on my phone currently is this one but it is cracked now after 3 months. That could be me dropping my phone, and it saving my screen from that crack! It fits very well, the install is a joke, and sticks well, though cracks easily and lowers overall touch sensitivity. At this point it's the best bet I've found, but also not a solution.

u/shadytinh · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

This one it was only $11.99. I was pretty skeptical at first but it turned out great. It has adhesive on the top and bottom lip of the screen so installation was easy, 5-10 second. Only issue is if you're not rocking a case, lint will attach to the exposed lip of the glass, easy enough to clean though.

Not sure why people would pay so much money for the WhiteDome. So unnecessarily complicated and waste after.

u/manlisten · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

Got some goodies in today: Imgur

dbrand camo skin

Mofi fabric case

The case is pretty much a removable skin, super thin. Definitely won't be providing much drop protection but it does look cool. Got the skin so when I do feel like going "commando" the back is still protected from scrapes.

Yup, I adore this thing. I almost shelled out for a wireless-charging magnetic solution, but this mount is so smooth and intuitive that I've convinced half my friends to buy them. The charging version is pricey, but the fact that it means I almost never have to look at my battery level on a normal workday makes it worth it.

I got [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079YC1TRH). It's alright, but it is very reflective. There is a rainbow effect on it which kinda sucks, but it's not that noticeable. A bunch of people have also received their protectors cracked, but you can get a replacement if that does happen. I wouldn't 100% recommend it, but the only reasons why I got it was because it was cheap and that I felt like I needed something more to protect my screen. If you want something with good quality, a bunch of people on here like the Whitestone Dome

u/Ricardoveras · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I have bought a Spigen and Tech21 and have decided to keep the Spigen, it just feels a lot better!
In relation to the screen protector, I bought the below and is great! No bubbles and great to put on (comes with an accessory)

For what it's worth, I just put on a screen protector I'm very happy with. I didn't want to spend the $40 for the Whitestone Dome since I'll get the Note 9 in a few months.

I found this tempered glass one on Amazon. It installed really simple, no bubbles and looks great. Only knock on it is it's pretty reflective but other than that, it stuck really well.

Here's what I posted in response to a similar question.

If you're like me, you don't want anything that detracts from the design of the phone. And I will not tolerate any case that covers the switchgear - I want direct tactile contact with the buttons.

I'm using this ultra thin case right now: Galaxy S9 Plus MNML Thin Case (Clear Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B8DP8YF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_6hf.BbD26Y1NQ

It doesn't provide any drop protection, but it improves grip, which helps to prevent a drop in the first place.

I switch between that one and this one, which does provide some shock protection in the corners: https://m.newegg.com/products/9SIA6RP8425424

I'm thinking about trying this TPU case: ESR Soft Galaxy S9+ Plus Case, Slim TPU Cover Case Compatible for The Samsung Galaxy S9+ Plus (2018 Released), Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078PGKRZL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_irf.BbABFMMR0

Or this one: TORRAS Slim Fit Galaxy S9 Plus Case, Hard Plastic PC Ultra Thin Phone Cover Case with Matte Finish Coating Grip Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079DQSS2C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Wuf.BbWFPQTNC

u/psycovirus · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

To be honest, both cases does not show off the beautiful lilac purple of the phone.

For decent protection, I suggest Ringko's Fusion with transparent back. It is a hard case. Fits really well.

https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Compatible-Transparent-Protection-Absorption/dp/B079LFFVFN/

Alternative would be Spigen Ultra Hybrid

Hey, would you look at that; I was waiting for the S9+ to drop in price again.

For what it's worth, Amazon has the S9 for $620 and the S9+ for $740.

Student / Employee pricing direct from Samsung drops it a bit further, but after $60+ in sales tax I'm back to $740. It's worth it to me, I nearly bought from Amazon last week -- and I would have ended up paying more then. I'm just hoping that they don't drop the price further with all the announcements going on this month.

Thanks, /u/chintan_joey!

Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro has been pretty solid - great protection.

u/-haven · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

This is what I picked up over the holidays and have been loving it. While not the thinnest of cases it works for my daily driver. Not sure how much stock I put in their corner protection tech but it's slim, has a nice texture on the back, has raised up top/bottom lips so you can flip your phone over, and still get full access to the phones edges.

u/RAMASO · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

The Supcase Unicorn Beetle will do that with its plastic integrated screen shield that performs better in impacts than any those glass screen "protectors". I have only used the Unicorn Beetle cases since the Galaxy S8. Now on my GS9+. It's also reasonably priced. By the way, the case looks exactly like the renderings in Amazon. High-quality build and materials.

That is the one I purchased.

EDIT: I'm back after a couple days. Just want to post the following information if anyone else ever comes across this post, and wants some closure.

I was able to take my phone to the Sprint Store, and they put in a new S9 SIM for me, free of charge, and set me up to where I could start using my brand new phone.

So if you're from the US, and buy this phone, It'll work with Sprint. That I can tell you. You just gotta take it in to get a new SIM card, which they'll provide for you, and you're all set to go! :)

u/bitzie_ow · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS9

Protector: Whitestone Dome Kinda finicky to put on, but feels awesome once it's done.

Case: Never used one so can't help there. I do have a Spigen Neo Hybrid but don't actually use it. I thought I might, but I prefer the feel of the phone without it.

u/GeekTekRob · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I have two s9+ and this brand works fantastic. Supcase and a caseology case both like otterbox defender and commuter.Amazon link

u/max1c · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

The price seems right... I think? iPhone 7 goes for about $250 on swappa: https://swappa.com/buy/apple-iphone-7 Brand new unlocked GS9 goes for $620 https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S9-Unlocked-Smartphone/dp/B079H6RLKQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1538839357&sr=8-1&keywords=galaxy+s9 So $390 after trade-in seems like a good price. I would go for it. The prices will likely be better on Black Friday but are you going to get the trade in too? Based on last years Black Friday from Amazon GS8 was about $570.

u/BelatedIntegrator · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I grabbed this Unicorn Beetle Pro case it's been working great for me. Comes with a screen protector as well which hasn't really hampered using the touchscreen.

u/tash0710 · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I prefer this one:

Spigen Liquid Air Armor Designed for Samsung Galaxy S9 Case (2018) - Matte Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0789T8P88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4X3HDb1A8Y5RS

Much less beefy and bulky. Fits on the hand well and does not add much weight or uncomfortable feel.

Spigen Neo Hybrid Designed for Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Case (2018) - Gunmetal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0789S2LZH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EY3HDbXVZ92HX

This is a good alternative. But its does feel less ergonomic than the Liquid.

u/AdamKennethHandleman · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I ordered the Anccer ultra thin case and the spigen air case so far, but I haven't put them on the phone yet. They are both ridiculously thin, and they both have no branding on the outside whatsoever. Anccer seems like it'll protect a little better IMO

u/Pancakesandcows · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS9

I went with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid S for mine, as I wanted a strong kickstand that didn't fall apart. I also like the idea of a clear case too.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078B1HB7Z

It doesn't come with a screen protector but I bought the Spigen Neoflex screen protector. Between the case and the screen protector, I've never had a problem despite how many times I've dropped the phone.

I'm a little late here, but here's what I use.

I have this sitting on my desk at work. Works great.

I just got this magnetic wireless charger for my car. I use Waze a lot, and a) I hate plugging in my phone all the time b) I hate cords cluttering my vehicle. I bought a clear gel type case to attach the metal ring to. The magnetic holds well, but it's not so firm that it feels like I'm ripping my dashboard off to unmount my phone. So far so good.

u/Asian-Shrimp-D · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I had a somewhat bulky case before, but I recently switched to this one and I'm liking it quite a lot especially because I don't really drop my phone so I only use a thin one for minor/accidental scuffs and scrapes

u/Yomat · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I would recommend this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Cushion-Technology-Protection-Samsung/dp/B0789WDXND?th=1&psc=1

I have the coral blue and a year later the back is still clear, not yellowing. The sides tend to yellow before the back. Getting colored sides eliminates that.

u/TheUnchainedZebra · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

Spigen Liquid Air or Thin Fit. I have both, among other cases, and use the liquid air as my daily-use case. The thin fit is hands down one of the thinnest/lowest-profile cases you can get for your S9/+ that's still high-quality, and will keep the screen from touching any flat surface it's on (granted, it's only about a milimetre or less above the surface, and the case doesn't protect the side buttons). I'd go for the liquid air personally - it's a bit thicker while still being lower profile than most other cases, and will give a fair degree more protection than the thin fit.

u/Pig_in_a_blanket · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I'm very happy with this Techmatte protector. If you get it centered well, you'll have good response. I have enhanced touch on, but I'm not sure i need it. I've had it on since the s9+ release date.

Supcase. Whilst it certainly won't make your phone look pretty, the case is an insurance policy in itself. I have had a Supcase for my Nexus 5X and the phone has been dropped out of cars, dropped down stairs, even dropped into the bath and the phone has not sustained any form of damage.

I had a Whitestone on it and the company was refusing to send me a $9 replacement. The website refused to let me get a replacement and when I emailed them about it, I never got a response back.

They lost my business because of that.
