Nice, I love TSW! (That first zone in new england is amazing) That being said, my novel is more of an open magic setting, one in the plot involves killing/capturing Nazis (of the ODESSA, Project Paperclip type) and their collaborators

You know, the funniest thing about this is that the initial impetus of this conversation was me saying that entertainment doesn't teach you anything. You then proceeded to get incredibly angry about this. And you're somehow deciding that the best way to respond to this is 4chan memes, reddit tags and capital letters, while completely failing to provide evidence that entertainment has taught you something. Like, is this really how you were intending to convince me that you're not a stupid idiot? Like when you were laughing at a well-respected author and veteran, you were like "yes, this will show that I am a good person and not an entitled baby".

So really, kind of curious at this point: why did you bother? All you did was make yourself look like a loud, angry 14 year old who can't deal with criticism. If you want you can post this conversation in /r/iamverysmart but I gotta warn you, dude, it's not exactly flattering for you.

I think Donald Trump having a romantic liaison with Fisto from Masters of the Universe is far more meaningful.

I think DDS is my favorite spinoff/subseries/game in the metaseries so far... I'd prefer to just leave it be, but there is the series of books by the script writer which apparently go into much greater detail than the games. I ought to check it out before it's out of print and absurdly expensive....

Jordan Owen's erotic novel complete with bonus racism. You can read the first bit for free. Don't read while eating. NSFW.

Yeah, for all his bravado, his actual examples are quite tame. He's not talking about downright adaptations/rewrites like the Battle Royale manga, or indeed some of Jay Rubin. This is just fluent translation.

Myself, I think there's space for both: translations closer to source-language structures, which will purposefully "weird" English (cf. Venuti), and more fluent translations that naturalize to the target language.

One of the things that first got me into feminism was simply working retail. Seeing the differences in how products are marketed differently to men vs women, boys vs. girls really got me thinking. Although that is in part due to how mind numbing the work is.

My first feminist book was He's a Stud, She's a Slut, and 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know
I thought it was a very good way to be introduced to the topic. Jessica Valenti also wrote Full Frontal Feminism, a very good book for introductory feminism.

As far as retail and marketing that I brought up, Anita Sarkeesian does a video where she talks about Lego Friends and their marketing differences between regular legos.

These small injustices and double standards helped me open up and made me more willing to dive into heavier topics that feminism addresses.

At least, that was my personal journey.

There's [a showcase edition that covers the initial maxi-series] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1401236774/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1401236774&linkCode=as2&tag=pagdrner-20&linkId=HZCXHXZMVX34LX5B) and the follow-up. ISTR that there's more that didn't make it into the omnibus and it's a shame that it's in black and white but it's quite good.

That whole "I'm totally for equality!" bit at the start reminded me of [this article] (http://the-toast.net/2014/11/10/suck-queer-allyship-case-study/).

It's not that they're consciously anti-feminist (except the Skullboy and Juice Lawyer types) but that they're so sheltered from actual issues that they assume "I'm a good person so I can't be a misogynist. 'Cause I'm a good person."

Bit of a tangent: Stan Goff's memoir [Hideous Dream] (http://www.amazon.com/Hideous-Dream-Soldiers-Memoir-Invasion/dp/1887128638/) includes a chapter about how he came to understand his own reflexive racism while serving in Vietnam. As a nineteen year old kid with a head full of Ayn Rand, he assumed he was beyond all that prejudice stuff but through confronting how racism often reflects social power dynamics, he came to understand that it was much more than being consciously hateful of others. It's much more about disparate treatment of others based on skin color and the casual assumptions that go along with systemic inequality because, when you're living in it, it seems so normal.

I'm not explaining it as well as he did but the gist is this - Just because you think of yourself as a good person does not mean you are free of retrograde thinking on subjects like race or gender. To think otherwise is to display the narcissism of a spoiled adolescent.

If anyone wants to learn more about Number 6, there'a good book called "The New Jim Crow" which goes into detail of some of the shadiness that was engaged in. Also, Cracked doesn't mention it but this era of time is where vagrancy laws came from.

I was thinking of these potato chips from UTZ that are flavored with 'crab seasoning' because I recently ate a bag (DON'T JUDGE ME). But apparently Lay's offers the true crab-flavored experience in Thailand

ahem Anyone interested in that perspective would be advised to check that out.

Interesting fact about this game: The ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) spells out "boobs n' tits"...

There's a chapter in the Laura Bates book Everyday Sexism that discusses this phenomenon in relation to discrimination against women. It makes for illuminating reading as the flipside to NachoShield - any axis of privilege becomes another source of ammunition.

by the way, David has turned to writing his own stories about modern monsters since he quit white wolf, so if you want to support one of Zak's victims, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074QNS9S3
