I assume not a Sapphire model, which would help. I know they make case & screen protectors - I don't think I'd want one all the time, but maybe just for games? Something like this maybe? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZR3QTB9/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Fbv3Db6QNHE41

EDIT: Just realized that doesn't cover the screen, but some do - or you can separately get a screen protector. https://smile.amazon.com/Garmin-Protector-Blueshaw-Tempered-Smartwatch/dp/B07XBQX23S/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=garmin+fenix+6+SCREEN+PROTECTOR&qid=1574785341&sr=8-3

Is there a way to wrap it with something like an ace bandage or a pad of some kind - maybe a youth elbow pad.

I can totally imagine wanting to capture the training stats from a game - that would be very interesting!

Good luck - maybe let us know what you decide and what your stats look like.

>Do either of these chest straps work for the calculations or does it have to be the HRM run/tri.

They will all work just fine for lactate threshold. I have the Red HRM-Run, and this guy (which used to be $20 a year ago, but I think Garmin isn't making it anymore) and both have worked just fine to calculate lactate threshold.

In fact nearly all ANT+ chest straps will have the ability to provide data necessary for lactate threshold. For Firstbeat's Lactate Threshold measurements you need heart rate variability data and that's available from nearly all ANT+ heart straps (even non-Garmin ones). I bet this one will even work.

The red strap provides Running Dynamics data like:

  • Ground Contact Time
  • Vertical Oscillation
  • Cadence

These are cool, but obviously not the same as lactate threshold.

I've golfed many times with my F5X+ and it's got some great tools but there's definitely some room for improvement.

With that being said, your watch will not sync with the Garmin Golf App in real time. The app will download your scorecard from your watch at the end of the round, and it will overlay your shots on to a map of each hole. From there, you can edit your shots and tell it what club you used for each shot (assuming you remember or wrote it down).

On my list of things to purchase is a set of the CT-10 sensors for my clubs. I don't know anyone personally that's used them, but I'd say there's a SMALL possibility it offers real-time shot mapping through the app.

Please update with your experiences!

Some people built some contraptions that go under the watch on your arm and provide a connection to the charging port for charging while you're wearing the Fenix. Similar to this. However, that's probably only slightly less bulky than wearing the Foretrex.

There's only the Garmin Instinct which has navigation features similar to the Foretrex. It has a somewhat longer battery runtime than the Fenix. (16 hours according to their data sheet.)

OTOH the Fenix 6 Pro does support maps and satellite imagery which might help when conquering unknown terrain. And also consider going for the previous models as the 6 series only slightly improves on the 5 series. (Fenix 6 = improved Fenix 5; Fenix 6 Pro = improved Fenix 5 Plus)

Garmin HRM Run with Running Dynamics. Great on a compatible watch for the extra data.

I have the Fenix 5S (no sapphire) I just got this bundle (screen protector x2, charging cable, charging port protector x4) and am really happy with it so far. The screen protector went on with no air bubbles and is basically invisible. I messed up when applying the first screen protector so after I took it off and put on the second one correctly, I tested the first one and it really is tempered glass. It shattered into a million pieces (held together by the coating thankfully), but it makes me very confident that it will protect my screen against scratches, although it may not protect it from a high drop onto a sharp surface, but I guess I feel good about accepting that risk.

Not sure exactly which one he has but I got this one not the cheapest, but the quality and comfort are amazing.

I was using the Anker Soundcore Spirit X with 8hr battery and they worked perfectly, but the Soundcore Life P2 were on sale this week for $44 and I love them. 8hrs battery life (tested myself) with 40 from the case.

My Vitrainer headphones cut out when I run.

Air pods battery is too short

So since these pretentious dicks aren't any help I'll try to help. I am currently using the silicone case from my 5x to protect my 6x, it doesn't fit great, but it's better than nothing. It will do until something is made for the 6 series. I ordered it off Amazon. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B077SG6TY8/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_kV6KDbSQD44D4

I use this, or a model almost exactly like it (it's not showing up in my order history for some reason), and it works great with my Fenix 5s.

I bought two (the older model) for about €5 each on a sale, and the first one still works fine. I actually prefer them to the new comfort ones, because I find they last longer. No external metal connectors that eventually have corrosion issues. In 2 years, I haven't had a single connection problem.

It's this one I'm talking about:
