I'm the same height and approximatly same weight, too.
I'tll be a bit inconvenient, as it takes a bit more than just hopping in to fly comfortably, but it can work. What makes it work for me is:
The best way to find out is take some time and experiment with what works for you and the glider you'll be flying.
Good Luck!
That was quick ! :)
So being a Horizon Hobby BNF (Bind n Fly) it only works with Spektrum transmitters. That's not a bad thing as 8 out of 10 pilots I know or have traded with and myself included fly Spektrum. Just to throw this out there, asking about radios in the RC community is like asking what the best mfg. of trucks is.
That said, the basic Spektrum radio is a DXe, that will more than get the job done for the Radian UMX. If you think you will want to stick around the hobby for a bit and get larger sailplanes or might be interested in other types of planes then I would highly recommend the DX8e. There is a large price difference in the two radios I just mentioned but the DX8e can store up to 250 model configs and program right on the radio. So one radio for all your planes, and if you want to try heli's or fpv/racing quads down the road it will work perfectly for those as well.
Beyond a Spektrum transmitter you might look at getting a USB Balance board so you can charge multiple batteries on the go and some 1S 45C 220Mah batteries. It balances and fly's fine with the slightly larger battery for additional flight time and the extra discharge capability (45C vs 25C) will give you a noticeable difference in power.
Get a sun hoody as well. they are super comfortable, stylish enough and breath/wick perfectly. They can be had for anywhere from $20 and up.

Columbia, Black Diamond, Patagonia, Arcteryx, Orvis, pretty much any outdoors company. Hell, I even make them for myself and friends on occasion.
Bucket hats work really well. Ideally you can find one that you wear slightly tilted backwards so it doesn't really block your vision at the front, but it covers your neck and ears. Soft fabric is the most comfortable. Something like this would be fine.
For the canopy used in modern DG gliders, they claim that "The canopies do not totally screen out UV, but do absorb about 95% of it".
As for bucket hats, yeah they are dorky looking, but they are the best thing for the purpose. If you feel too weird wearing a plain old bucket hat, why not get a novelty hat? At least then it looks like you're self-aware of how goofy they look.
I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with baseball caps as long as there is no top button, but neck protection is definitely desirable. I think they are dorkier looking than the bucket hat (which I choose to rock) but an alternative is one of the caps with the neck flap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XV47D9S
I have one of these Columbia sun shirts too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010MUYYAE
The collar has an extra flap that can be popped up for additional neck protection. Doesn't do anything for your ears though.
The key for me is to:
1)focus on scanning for traffic on the horizon using the standard technique. This works for me.
2)minimize looking inside the glider
3)recognize the early symptoms of mild motion sickness and focus on scanning for traffic until the mild symptoms go away. The key for me is prevention because once the symptoms go past mild, it will only get worse until I land.
I think that managing motion sickness is a skill that your brain learns over time. My tolerance to turbulence has increased over time. The one symptom of motion sickness that is not talked about so much is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sopite_syndrome I found that a measured dose of caffeine counters that quite well. I carry caffeine mints whenever I fly and pop them as needed. https://www.amazon.com/Penguin-Caffeinated-Peppermints-Unleashed-16/dp/B009L4QLA4/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492636756&sr=8-5&keywords=caffeine+mints
Thrustmaster baby
I'm sure a lot will work, but these are the ones I use.
This is probably what you're looking for.
Also, melanoma of the ears. Dick Johnson wore a ballcap for years of soaring and was missing half an ear and a thyroid for his troubles. My favorite soaring hat is an Under Armor golfing bucket hat
