I have two HL-X. One on my HD shotgun and one on my .300 BLK pistol build. It's perfect for pressure pad switching. As far as a red dot, have you run one stacked? The newer ACOGs TA02 have the red dot stack further forward and it's a little better I suppose. But you have to pop your head up and off of a consistent cheek-weld. A lot of folks, including me, find it easier to roll/cant the rifle and use an offset red dot like this.
