> I have read every book ever about Arsenal

Really?

I'm a bit of a book junkie, I can recommend a few you might not have come across:

The End: 80 Years of Life on the Terraces: 80 Years of Life on Arsenal's North Bank

We All Live in a Perry Groves World

True Storey: My Life and Crimes as a Football Hatchet Man

Fallen Idle

Bob Wilson: My Autobiography - Behind the Network

Addicted

Battle of London: Arsenal Versus Tottenham Hotspur

The Real Arsenal: From Chapman to Wenger - the unofficial story

Rebels for the Cause: The Alternative History of Arsenal Football Club

Bob Wall - Arsenal From The Heart

Bernard Joy - Forward, Arsenal!

Steaming In

The Last Game: Love, Death and Football

... and for some proper old-school type stuff, have a look here where a very dedicated person has scanned full books that are out of print:

> Tom Whittaker's Arsenal Story
>
> Bernard Joy - Forward, Arsenal!
> One of the first books covering Arsenal's history. Published in 1952.
>
> George Allison - The Inside Story Of Football
>
> Arsenal Players' Souvenir Brochure for the 1947-48 Season
>
> Herbert Chapman On Football
> During the early 1930s Herbert Chapman contributed articles to The Sunday Express. This compendium of his articles was published shortly after his death.
>
> Joe Mercer - The Great Ones
>
> Jon Sammels - Double Champions-Playing The Arsenal Way

His song, "Proud To Be Black", was a reggae dancehall one-hit-wonder. Anyone who listened to reggae in the late eighties/early nineties knows this track.

When I just listened to it from the link in /u/Jawnt's post I immediately recognized it and assumed Robbie probably was probably doing a cover of the real song. You can imagine my surprise when trying to google the original singer and it turning out to be him.

Even if you are only familiar with a little dancehall from back then you are bound to recognize a couple of the tracks on this compilation album of hits which includes "Proud To Be Black".

Arsenal supporters are shocked to find out our Robbie was singing back then but trust me, folks who listened to dancehall back then would be doubly shocked to find out he now hosts a football YouTube channel with over 120k followers and over 40 million views.

As a subscriber to his channel and a gunner I've been admiring what he does but now I have even more respect for the man.

Another not-specific-to-Arsenal but great read is The Ball is Round: A Global History of Soccer by David Goldblatt. Love it.

Obviously not a direct answer to your question, but there's a book coming out dedicated to the Invincible season, written by Amy Lawrence. She knows her Arsenal, and it's got a foreword by an ITK, so it'll be worth a look when it comes out.

So...I'm looking to buy a Subbuteo set before Christmas.

Is there anything I should keep in mind? Is one better than the other? Different materials used etc? I've just mainly been looking on Amazon.

It's something that didn't really make its way to Iceland back when it was a thing but I have friends living here who are originally from continental Europe who grew up playing it, want to bust it out as a surprise during Christmas cozy season.

You're confusing Pace and Acceleration. Bergkamp was one of the faster (top 5) players in the squad over 60 Metres. That's how he was involved in many counter-attacking build up plays. This is a fact said by Arsene Wenger from time to time.

Watch a couple of highlight reels during his playing years. He catches up to everyone but Thierry Henry or Ashley Cole during a counter.

People don't magically reach their top speed instantly... He should have 80s pace, maybe 70s acceleration is baked into the engine. This is why I don't take video game stats seriously.

EDIT: If you'd like a source, feel free to buy a copy of The Italian Job. He was third in the club's 60 metre race during the Invincibles season (2003/2004). At 33 years of age.

I don't know if you have it, but the trio of Henry, Bergkamp and Wright DVD's (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Arsenal-Legends-Henry-Wright-Bergkamp/dp/B002IYPF2E) are excellent watches for something like that.

So has everyone seen the amazing new book, One Step from Glory:Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League Campaign 2018/19?

The author.

Available on amazon. It's #1854 on the amazon bestsellers list. Pop on over to read the reviews. There's only a couple so far.

I know you said you try to avoid A biography, but Paul Merson's How not to be a professional footballer is an absolutely outstanding read. Some of the stories in it are nearly unbelievable! Just look at the chapter titles.

Has to be Philippe Auclair imo, wrote an award winning book in English too so you don't have to worry about how comfortable he is with the language.

I think it's only available in German currently as it has just been released a few weeks ago but in that book the investigative journalist who is the author of the book states in a quite detailed fashion stuff about Özil's new contract. In the first book they have also laid out information about just how much we are paying Aubameyang (which is also insane although with him it's rather the bonuses that he'll earn).
