Those types of containers are good for day to day use, but if you get in the habit of buying at least a brick or case of a set it's good to have something like this: Sterilite Medium Clip Box

These will reliably fit an entire set, save for the ones with the multiple oversize figures like the most recent Thor.

That's neat, I simply use small basic storage containers to store my figs, I have separate case I put figs in when I take them to tournaments.

This One: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-014026R-SortMaster-Organizer/dp/B002RL9E16/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_c

it can be found at any Home Depot or Lowes (or I assume any large hardware store) for about $10 and has ample space for figs, character cards, tokens, objects I even permanently store all my print n play feats/BFCs/ATAs, as well as all my special objects both pog and 3d so that I always have access to them.

Back when I was playing home games every week, I bought some thin plexiglass from Home Depot. The map rests under it and you get a perfectly flat playing surface. The price seems to have climbed a bit in the 10 years since I bought it, but you might find a cheap plexiglass option at a mom & pop glass shop?

You can also find poster holders to fit a map into - this plastic might be thinner than plexiglass so rough playing will scratch it up eventually. https://www.amazon.com/BCW-24-36-Topload-Quantity/dp/B001OOJMR8

ClixFx are perfect for this. Maybe use some from other figures you have, or grab a pack at your local store: https://www.amazon.com/HeroClix-Game-Accessories-ClixFX-Bases/dp/B01DJSF2PC

After you buy your maps, look at these to keep them protected.

Plano 1374 4-By Rack System 3700 Size Tackle Box for carrying around most of my stuff - teams, maps, rules, tokens, components, etc...

For my extra, bulk minis I put them in gallon sized ziplock bags, roll them up, and store them in your basic clear, plastic storage container.

The last starter set was the Earth X starter. You can get it for $25 on Amazon. If you can wait 2-3 months, the next ones to be released are an Orville starter in September and two WWE starters in October. Cool Stuff Inc appears to be taking pre-orders for the latter.

Its a 2 part moldable "plastic"

You mix equal parts, mold it into shape, and when it dries it can be painted and to a lesser extent, sanded.
