I've always liked and had best luck with Pioneer, you'll probably want a double DIN unit as that will fit better. You can order from Crutchfield and they include the front bezel and wire harness, but you can also find head units cheaper elsewhere and buy the install kit from Crutchfield separate.

Bonus, I believe all of the double DIN Pioneer units with touchscreens work with backup cameras, which you can find on Amazon for $15 or so. The cheapest one currently is the AVH-P1400, they go up in price to the AVH-P8400

If you want navigation you can add that on to the more expensive models, but they also have navigation units.

They also have the cool App Radio, which works great if you have an iPhone, works with Android too but not as well.

As for speakers, yeah I'd switch those out too. I'm fond of Polk Audio myself. Head to crutchfield.com, put in your car and they'll list the various speaker sets that will fit. Component speakers generally sound better than coaxial, but again it all depends on your budget and anything you put in there should give you better sound than the stock radio and speakers. If you buy from crutchfield they include any adapters to use the stock wiring making it simple plug and play.

Actually thinking about it, the base doesn't have tweeters so you'll probably be better getting coaxial speakers.

Just know you don't have to do it all at once, you can get the head unit, then add speakers on in a few months, or vice versa.

With rattle cans your options are limited, but this method is what I used on my doorjambs and its held up pretty well over the last year. It's not as sturdy as a proper sealer/base/clear combo like I used on the body but works pretty well for rattle cans.

Go to automotivetouchup.com and select the year and paint code for your car and they'll try to mix up some paint to match as closely as possible and send it to you in an aerosol can. Or you can use Duplicolor matched paint from AutoZone. And if you're car is a metallic color, forget about it matching perfectly.

For the clear coat, buy this, it's real clear coat in an aerosol can and lays down really well, buy two cans to be safe, and make sure you have a respirator with organic vapor cartridges. This shit is nasty and you don't want to breathe it.

For surface prep, sand off anything that's peeling with 200-400 grit and then finish the surface with 600 grit sandpaper, anything less will show as scratches after you're done. Wipe it down and don't start spraying base until the surface is clean and dry.

Spray the base coat on using 3 medium to wet coats, 15 minutes between coats. Let the paint cure for at least a week, all of the solvents need to be completely evaporated or you'll have a huge mess on your hands when you spray the clear.

Now that you've waited a week, sand it smooth with 600 grit again and get rid of any runs you might have had in the base coat, wipe the surface clean, and spray the clear in 3 wet coats with 15 minutes between each coat. (longer flash time if it's colder than 65-70 degrees, shorter if it's over 80) After each coat it should be shiny, but don't worry if there's orange peel after the first coat, it will smooth out as the layers "melt" together.

If you get runs in the clear, DO NOT try to fix it (don't dab at it with a paper towel, your finger, etc.), you'll make a huge mess and it will be impossible to fix without respraying the whole thing. Wait until the clear has set up for a week or so, decide if it's really worth it to fix them, and go back with 2000 grit sandpaper and a block and smooth them out, then buff it until it's shiny.

There is not an Aux port in the car, but there is an open slot on the underside of the radio that you can install an Aux cord or Bluetooth adapter in. The adapters can be bought for relatively cheap depending on options. I had one that was Bluetooth, Aux, and USB but just Aux would’ve worked just fine.

Once the adapter is installed, you can click that CD/Aux button and it’ll allow you to access the alternate input. Mine used to say “CD-C” when I would use the adapter input.

These adapters can be found all over. Just search on Google for a 2004-2005 Acura TSX/Honda Accord Euro aux adapter and you’ll find plenty of options.

Here is a video that is a guide for installing it, they also show a brand here but I know that brand is really expensive. Amazon has great options for way cheaper.

Here is an example of one from Amazon for $22 USD. It includes an Aux and USB input. They’re compatible with numerous Honda’s, so you’ll find plenty of options.

USB Aux Interface Adapter Charge Cable For Honda Accord Odyssey Civic City Fit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNF9V79/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5tAHDbCSS63W7

Good luck! It’s a super easy, cheap install. Feel free to shoot me a message with any questions, done this on a few cars!

For some visual evidence of what I'm talking about, here's my car on 195/55r15 tires vs 170/70r13 tires (the 195s are .8" larger diameter)

https://i.imgur.com/T9vrgHn.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/Qhyzvrv.jpg

despite the car actually being lower to the ground with the smaller tires, the extra space in the wheel wells can give the impression of the car sitting higher.

As far as basic mods:

https://www.amazon.com/ST-Suspension-51120-Anti-Sway-Accord/dp/B000AUMOJ0

That'll help you get rid of most of the factory understeer.

For suspension, the standard choice is Koni sport shocks with Ground Control coilover sleeves. They'll run you $900 + assembly.

If you aren't able/willing to play around with spring compressors, I would save up a bit more and get a pre-assembled coilover like the BC Racing type BR coilover for $1000. They'll save you the cost of having a shop assemble the shocks for you, meaning you'll likely spend less in total.

You'll likely want 16 or 17" wheels for a better selection of tires.

205/55r16 and 215/45r17 are good tire sizes in terms of having a ton of great tires to choose from. They're the same size or 10mm wider than stock tires on a 97 V6 accord, and approximately the same diameter, so you shouldn't run into trouble with scrubbing or steering range.

Best inexpensive quality wheel with the correct lug pattern for a 97 Accord that I would find is the Enkei J10. Might have better luck searching for other people selling used 16" or 17" wheels for accords, buying new wheels and tires is always pretty pricey.

The other option is to look into converting your Accord to 5x114.3 lugs, because then you can get lightweight, performance-focused wheels that nobody really seems to make for your Accord's 4x114.3 lugs.

>Since these are a safety item in my opinion, i wouldn't do the cheap amazon kits. Some places say LED's don't work well in projector housings, some say they work great (headlight revolution).

Yeah, Headlight Revolution also happens to sell plug-and-play LED kits, so of course they'll say it works great. They really have no idea what they're talking about, though.

>Some say HID is the way to go, but those can be complicated to install, and i've seen articles that say that you need a specific housing for those lights to work properly as well.

Yes, you need a HID projector headlamp assembly, not a halogen headlamp assembly as you have.

>Was the LED light good in terms of the beam distance? Any information helps, thanks!

None of the LED bulbs are going to give you good beam distance. If you want beam distance then this is what you want.

Just got it this week after an accident in my 1994 Acura Legend.

First Honda for me, and first car made in the 21st century (previously also had a 2008 Chevy Cavalier).

Wanted to share with you all and ask about best (frugal) accessories to keep this car tip top for years to come. So far I've gotten:

  • Elite Seat Shield- I play a lot of basketball and go the the gym regularly, so want to avoid damaging the seat.

  • Armor All Rubber Mats- for everyday use and especially for ease of cleaning when I bring sand in from the beach

  • Shade Sox in lieu of tinting until I can save a little money to afford it

  • Jumo Windshield Shade- to keep the car cooler and protect the interior parked in the bright Florida sun.

    I also plan to get

  • Ultra Gauge for real-time MPG monitoring

Any other basic recommendations. I'm also open to learning how to properly and regularly wash and wax the car to retain the paint and re-sale value down the road, and have read a few threads on that, such as this Wiki post here.

Any other good recommended (easy for the beginner) resources you can suggest. This is the first time I've spent more than $1k on a car (~$7500), and want to protect and preserve the investment.

    Thanks /r/Honda.

I used to own a 9th gen sport and wanted to do the same upgrade as you. If you're willing to splice wires then you can purchase the touring headlights from college hills honda and do that for yourself. however, I'd recommend bulb swaps to all LED and keep the housing, any aftermarket housing imo looks cheap and ruins the aesthetic.

these are bulbs i'd recommend

I suggest replacing the entire auxiliary input assembly. It sounds like something has broken with yours.

Here's a link to a DIY video for replacing the part. I suggest watching the video all the way through once. The guy really butchered his dashboard to remove the old assembly. Rather than trying to pry it right out, I would remove the silver cover from the gear selector (I'm assuming you have an automatic) and work your way up the dashboard.

Also, here's a link to the part you'll need on Amazon. There are other vendors who may sell it cheaper. The part number is "39112-SNA-A01."

If possible, visit your dealership. If you're still under warranty, they might be able to do it for you for free, or at least help you get a discount on the part.

Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions!

i'm using this and can vouch for it:

https://www.amazon.com/HIKARI-Headlight-Conversion-Lumileds-Warranty/dp/B077BT6M6Z

i got both the low beams and high beams on Amazon deal of the day and paid $72 each..

Pros - super bright, easy installation, reputed and well priced

Cons - none to slight dark spots (ymmv), can hear the fan if the light are on and the engine is turned off (doesn't bother me)

u/pkoya1 · 4 pointsr/Honda

I highly recommend this as its inexpensive and looks cool. Easier install too, just pop out the door light plastic and bulb and plug this in!

I'll apply wax, let it dry, buff out by hand then a quick pass with this stuff.

https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Magic-730-6-Headlight-Sealer/dp/B0051PJWQW

Every now and then or whenever I feel like the shine has dulled down a bit I'll go over the bare headlight with some Plastx before applying the wax and sealant and I'm good as new again.

u/Iheartbaconz · 2 pointsr/Honda

Jesus, you went balls out. I was just going to use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Magic-730-6-Headlight-Sealer/dp/B0051PJWQW

At this point i fucked up one of my headlights and like melted it sanding it with a disc that came in a restore kit. I donno wtf happened, but there are like burn marks in the drivers side. So it needs replaced anyways.

u/fassaction · 1 pointr/Honda

Had the same issue with my 06 civic. You can buy replacement parts on Amazon. Took about 5 minutes to replace. It’s just a piece that plugs into a port.
