This is a great read. It outlines the relationship between poverty and obesity. It really changed my perspective on fat people.

The reason tribes were small when Europeans arrived was because European disease arrived first, often with 95% death tolls. Except for the very first explorers (Pizarro, etc.), what European settlers saw was a post-apocalyptic society. Prior to that, Native Americans had as large and complex (and as violent) societies as any that existed on the other side of the Atlantic.

A good book about the modern scholarship on the subject is Mann's 1491, which I highly recommend.

This is what got me more into dirty jokes. I was like 12 or so when I found it on my mom's bookshelf.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_Goldberg - a half Jewish soldier of Nazi regime that became so popular and famous he even became a poster boy.

The Jews who fought for Hitler: 'We did not help the Germans. We had a common enemy'

When Hitler Honored Jewish Soldiers, as many as 100,000

Hell, there are even books written on this with all the proof you could ever want.

The idea behind the holocaust was not to exterminate the Jews but take the wealth away from wealthy Jews. War/genocide is the best disguise and the elite never cared how many peasants will die.
These aren't even my juicy sources, i was too lazy to dig them up.

If you've got any military buddies that work on the flight line or just outdoors in general, they'll usually have good recommendations.

I wear these for anything serious, they're comfortable as hell and while they pictures don't show it, they've got a zipper on the side that make them extremely fast to get on/off.

If you don't like the color, these are decent too.

http://www.amazon.com/Cows-Pigs-Wars-Witches-Riddles/dp/0679724680

The book "Cows, Pigs, War and Witches" gave these possible reasons:

  • Undercooked pork could cause Trichinosis, and it was easier to put an all out ban rather than say "you can eat pork, you just need to cook it well."

  • Pigs come from temperate forests and wallow in mud/ponds for cooling. Imported into drier climates, they create their own mud by rolling in their own urine and excement.

  • A pig's diet directly competes with human's dietary staples...Therefore they were considered delicious, but too resource intensive.
