So with the Nabeel stuff, it comes in a block, and looks like a candy bar. You'll need to break a little off, put it in a foil cup, and enjoy the scent. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, yes, this is probably synthetic stuff, but it smells amazing. The real stuff is going to cost a pretty penny.

So I checked Agarscents Bazaar, and it doesn't look like they have any bakhoor available right now. https://www.agarscentsbazaar.com/collections/wood-chips-incense-sticks When they have it, it can be pricey.

I have ordered these on Amazon, and they are quite good: https://www.amazon.com/BAKHOOR-Tablets-Swiss-Arabian-Bakhoor/dp/B0051UTLDG/ref=sr_1_5_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1517671660&sr=1-5&keywords=bakhoor

Again, one of the little "tablets" can be broken up into many, many different pieces and will last you a long time.

I have Oud Naseem as well: https://www.amazon.com/Nabeel-HC1068580-P-OD1571-Oudh-Nasaem-60Gms/dp/B009FN6PIE/ref=pd_sim_121_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B009FN6PIE&pd_rd_r=9GRGMP68FZVBZQRVK5S2&pd_rd_w=hOFCe&pd_rd_wg=ZATjt&refRID=9GRGMP68FZVBZQRVK5S2&th=1

Those are wood chips and are heavily soaked in oil/scent. They smell nice and, again, you can break them up, put them in a foil cup, and they will last you a long time.

Now, I don't think Mermade (http://www.mermadearts.com/) carries bakhoor, but she does have a ton of nice frankincense and other granular incense. Check out her Khyphi (sp?) and frankincense. She also occasionally carries very rare incense (Ali's Roadside Lozenges and such).

As for Hermitage of the Holy Cross (https://www.holycross-hermitage.com/collections/incense), they have Athonite style incense. So it comes in little powdered grains that smell amazing. The incense comes in 1 oz. containers, which is actually a lot. Recommendations include Byzantium, Orange Blossom, and Old Church (my wife's favorite).

That should give you a nice start with your burner. Just remember to pick up some foil cups. Mermade carries them for a good price. And you can clean out the old incense from the foil cups and use them over and over. Super handy. Hope this all helps! Holler at me if you have any other questions.

Here are two really cool ones from Amazon that I've used.

https://smile.amazon.com/Govinda-Wooden-Coffin-Incense-Burner/dp/B00MDXD8V0/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=incense+burner+box&qid=1570295607&sr=8-5 This one is like a basic stick burner, but opens and closes. Yes, you might get a box that won't hold your sticks well, but I've had this one for years and it's still great. It works well with most Indian style incense sticks, but does NOT work for Tibetan or Japanese incense because you need to put the bamboo end of the stick in the hole.

https://www.amazon.com/OneSoul-Collection-Incense-Catcher-Storage/dp/B07JZ2YS8J/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=OneSoul+Collection&qid=1570295822&sr=8-4 This one works for everything. You lay the stick on the black fabric, and let it burn. It's the best for Tibetan and Japanese sticks since you don't need a clip or holder to burn them. You can burn the entire stick with this.

I don't know if I've ever been inside a Hot Topic, but I can at least tell you that Dragon's Blood is a fairly common incense scent. You can almost surely find something pretty close, even if you can't find the exact brand. Do post a pic, tho. Good luck.

For example.

Shoyeido makes high quality incense that is especially beginner friendly. You can browse their entire line on their website and they also sell a lot of items through Amazon. Their Daily Assortment pack is a good introduction to their basic style, and Japanese incense in general. I particularly like their Plum Blossoms. I buy most of my incense from Japan Incense. They carry Shoyeido as well as many other great brands such as Baieido, Kunjudo, Keigado, Kunmeido, and Yamadamatsu.

Here's what I've learned. This coil is part of a Shoyeido series called Horin. You purchased the highest grade in the series. It has a stiff learning curve, being a Kyara blend. I've noticed that it's hard to pin down- the notes shift and bend as it fills the space. It's got a tanginess that might be strange coming from the Bosen Blessing coils. All the coils in this series have oils and that might be strange for you too. The first in the series, Nijo, is a very easy entrance, but relies greatly on oils for it's surprising identity. The affordable sampler https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0035V2RH0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_PVlSDbQ9AVZV2 is the best way to get your head around the series.

That would be pretty easy to make one of your own with some basic tools.

I would get a can that has a pull-top (because a can opener will mangle the top more) clean it out, and punch a couple holes on each side. Then spray paint the outside of the can.

The slightly tougher bit would be getting something for the incense to hang from, but you could look for something like this (http://www.amazon.com/Stratford-Large-Black-Metal-Display/dp/B0030MUVKE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412104713&sr=8-1&keywords=metal+bowl+stand) for the top.

I will definitely see if she could let me borrow some to try. I've heard that artificial are harmful and that it's best to stick to natural. The ones I am thinking about ordering for my first sticks are....

https://www.amazon.com/SHOYEIDO-Plum-Blossoms-Incense-sticks/dp/B001B652NC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=H0G92APKO0PR&keywords=japanese+incense&qid=1574789649&sprefix=japanese+in%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-3

You could wear it like a perfume - buy an empty roll-on bottle and dilute it with a carrier oil (fragrance-free oil, like jojoba). Maybe start with 20% fragrance oil to 80% carrier oil. You can play with the proportions.

Buy an oil burner - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ISQYRMK/ref=mp_s_a_1_29_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1500249375&sr=8-29&keywords=oil+burner

Or an oil diffuser - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Y2CQRZY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500249410&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=oil+diffuser&dpPl=1&dpID=31GwYHJauNL&ref=plSrch

(Those links we're picked at random). Have fun with your oil!

Looks exactly like it, thanks!

Edit: I just ordered 84 bucks of incense, neat

u/mofaha · 1 pointr/Incense

No idea, I'm not familiar with their site. I found them on Amazon.

Correction! I don't think I was actually looking at Boston Commodities inventory at all, and when I search their Amazon store it doesn't bring up any results from them.

It turns out the Tokusen Kobunboku I saw actually came up in "inspired by your browsing history" and was from another vendor. It's here if you're interested. Bear in mind this is not a vendor recommendation since I haven't bought from this place before :)

Yes, this is why it's so hard to trust anything online...This has literally 1K reviews though, what do you think? https://www.amazon.com/Sai-Baba-Nag-Champa-Incense/dp/B0000ZUGS6

u/Jerl · 1 pointr/Incense

If you're talking about Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa, then yes, the little sample box is a different incense. In my experience, it's usually For You, though I've also seen Golden Era and Natural samples in other Satya incense. The name on the sample box is literally the name of the incense inside.

Bonus fact: Shrinivas Sugandhalaya, the company that produces Satya incense, split into two separate companies: Shrinivas Sugandhalaya LLP Mumbai and Shrinivas Sugandhalaya (BNG) LLP (located in Bengaluru). Only the Mumbai fork packages samples with their incense nowadays.

Shoyeido makes my favorite Japanese incense. As for Tibetan I'm really fond of Lumbini Rope Incense.

u/DrWolfypants · 4 pointsr/Incense

Is this it? Creationtop incense:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B3WQ9K4/ref=twister_B07B3QV387?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

The one selectable one is close but not exactly the same is the Australian Sandal : it has the lotus flower pinch hand gesture. The other choices vary with color of tube and also with flowers.

u/Atyrius · 1 pointr/Incense

You should look into coreless japanese incense. Burns nothing but incense and barely any smoke.

My favorite.
