Reminds me of a book I received several years ago, The Elements, by Theodore Gray. Amazing pictures and some fascinating descriptions.

Surprisingly cheap on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Elements-Visual-Exploration-Universe/dp/1579128955

Hey there - couldn't agree more. If you're interested in the subject then I recommend checking out: https://www.amazon.com/Aliens-Are-Coming-Extraordinary-Universe/dp/1615193650

I read it in one night, unable to put it down. This book and others like it make simple yet hard to refute arguments not just about the likely existence of extraterrestrial life, but the growing certainty that our universe has been teaming with life for the last 5 billion years.

These days when I gaze up at the stars I see something I wish so many others could learn to see: An endless ocean of undiscovered life.

Here's an article on the on going studies: http://www.wired.com/2014/08/what-makes-us-fat/

Here's a write-up that should help explain the logic. This specifically addresses your question: http://authoritynutrition.com/debunking-the-calorie-myth/

Health expert Jonathon Bailor wrote a NYT Bestseller called. "The Calorie Myth": http://www.amazon.com/The-Calorie-Myth-Exercise-Weight/dp/0062267337

Last, health coach Sam Altman regularly tracks and blogs experiments in eating. Here is a link to his 5000 calorie challenge where he overeats while his waist size goes down and he doesn't add fat. Key is WHAT he eats, not the caloric content!: http://live.smashthefat.com/why-i-didnt-get-fat/

Thanks for asking. Msg me if you want to chat more about it. I've got lots of n=1 and anecdotes as well.

I usually look for the community pages of stackoverflow on the topic.
For example, to learn more about C++ I have been searching for something like "C++ book stackoverflow" and found this page. 4K upvotes, 27 revisions, 23 contributors, last edited in December 2015. Definitely a reliable source.

There does not seem to be any post about Java books on stackoverflow except for this more generalist one, that looks reliable but not updated since 2013.

This last post suggests Head First Java by Kathy Sierra.

I have heard that Effective Java by Joshua Bloch is a very good book for intermediate Java programmers, and the author in the first pages suggests The Java Programming Language by Ken Arnold as an introduction to Java. This last one is also listed on the stackoverflow answer, I would probably go for that one.

The wind is great. Honestly. You should give this read.

Yes I have read that article several times; your point simply solidifies my arguements. Have you read about the multiple agreements between Britain and the Arab states in WW1? You cannot simply start reading about WW2, the effects of it afterwards (Jewish displacements, state of Israel) without knowing what went on in WW1.

Read this and get back to me as it explains very clearly the effects this has today.

This was actually really useful. I have been looking for a new, slim wallet for a little while now and I found this using that site.

Thanks!!

I have that "Condom case" and I can tell you right now if you use it for holding condoms you're doing it wrong. It's fantastic for little things, I keep my licence, and a couple cards in it and it is awesome! I really just got sick of my bulky wallet and wanted to mix it up haha.

It seems as if they post things like that with multiple names in order to gain searches.

Edit: Scratch that, they are different sizes, same price. I don't know why I would need a condom holder, but I guess I know where to go if I did.

If you wanna get serious Rikky Rooksby has a ton of books on songwriting and music for various instruments. Check out all the related books on amazon.

He gets into the theory of why chord progressions and melodies work and how to create compositionally strong music with a contemporary focus.

Is aussie style licorice really a thing or a marketing gimmick? Because I'm eating this stuff I got for Christmas, it's awesome.

Check out the book Mail Order Mysteries that has pictures of both the ads from all those comic things, as well as pictures of the actual products. Fun stuff.

There is a great book on the subject of the first transatlantic cable called A Thread Across the Ocean.

There are some really high end studio quality earbuds made by, say, Sennheiser (this) but I generally go for something made by Creative or Sony with some 30-40-something price tag.

The actual link OWASP Top 10 2013. This list is in the process of being updated so the information isn't exactly accurate anymore.

For more in depth reading I'd suggest The Web Application Hacker's Handbook. Also check out /r/netsec for a good discussion platform.

Try "A Short Stay in Hell". Based on the same premise but I liked it more than Borges' story.

GuHong is pretty dated. Go with an AoLong: Amazon
