Well, you could go that route and get different drives for each thing which is the best option for performance.
Right now you can get an NVMe SSD at the price of a SATA SSD so you should get that instead.
So, what I recommend doing is removing the HDD and replacing it with a PCIE 3 SSD which you can use for OS and Software, and you keep the PCIE 4 SSD which you will use for the files. Then later on you can buy an HDD, possibly even an external one. Best Buy usually has an external WD 10TB HDD for around $170 and an 8TB for $120.
