Budget: ~$2000
Country: Canada
Screen Size: 17"
Screen Resolution: unlikely to be anything but 1080p?
Touch Screen: No
Weight: not a major criteria

Looking for a "backup gaming rig." I have a good desktop, I use my laptop mainly when I need to be portable around the house (it also comes with me when I travel, but that's not frequently). That means relatively low-spec games like WoW and Diablo 3, video calling plus pdf reader plus spreadsheet for tabletop gaming, maybe some Photoshop, etc. Based on my target budget and wants, I know fairly precisely what sort of specs I'm probably looking at: i7 9750H, 16 gigs ram (wouldn't say no to 32 for a good deal), 500 gb SSD is adequate (1TB would be nice), no HDD, 1660 Ti (high-end GPU is a major budget killer and not really necessary - 2060 might fit in if it's a good deal). I'd really like it to age well.

Based on all that, I have already picked out some candidates. It seems like most of them are variations of MSI models: the GE75, GP75, GS75, and GL73 (depending on sale prices). I also really like the look of the Eluktronics G1Rx (and higher spec variation), but a company rep has informed me that they do not plan to publish it to Canadian market sites. Mechanical keyboard, though. I could get one across the border, but it would be a hassle and I'd risk not having any support if something breaks. Are the MSI ones decent? Sturdy hinges, good thermals? The GL73 was $1650 on Newegg.ca the other day but I hesitated to pull the trigger, worth going for again? It seems like the same specs but bulkier and cheaper build quality, not sure if I'd regret it later.

Edit: May also be good options from Sager, they any good?

>If you would go with a 15 inches, this [ Omen 15](https://www.amazon.ca/HP-15-Inch-i7-8750H-Processor-15-dc1040nr/dp/B07NDYF45F/ref=as\_li\_ss\_tl?keywords=gaming+laptop+rtx+2060&qid=1567796795&s=pc&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&sr=1-23&linkCode=ll1&tag=cheaponlinsto-20&linkId=2f73a942f8c991ba4f6d1864170f6fe7&language=en\_CA](https://www.amazon.ca/HP-15-Inch-i7-8750H-Processor-15-dc1040nr/dp/B07NDYF45F/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=gaming+laptop+rtx+2060&qid=1567796795&s=pc&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&sr=1-23&linkCode=ll1&tag=cheaponlinsto-20&linkId=2f73a942f8c991ba4f6d1864170f6fe7&language=en_CA) would be a great pick and of course, would run the games mentioned easily on ultra setting. If 17 inches is a must, go for this [Asus G731GV-DB74 ROG Strix Hero III](https://www.amazon.ca/Asus-G731GV-DB74-Gaming-GeForce-i7-9750H/dp/B07QLNXS9H/ref=as\_li\_ss\_tl?keywords=gaming+laptop+rtx+2060&qid=1567797146&refinements=p\_n\_size\_browse-bin:7326923011&rnid=7326915011&s=pc&sr=1-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=cheaponlinsto-20&linkId=82d00922dbe1e1f559300823d852d8c8&language=en\_CA](https://www.amazon.ca/Asus-G731GV-DB74-Gaming-GeForce-i7-9750H/dp/B07QLNXS9H/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=gaming+laptop+rtx+2060&qid=1567797146&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin:7326923011&rnid=7326915011&s=pc&sr=1-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=cheaponlinsto-20&linkId=82d00922dbe1e1f559300823d852d8c8&language=en_CA) would still be a great pick and get the job done for you.

It's possible, but I don't think it can beat that Nitro 5's value. The ASUS TUF FX505DT is a solid alternative under $1,000, you get a stronger graphics card: the GTX 1650.

Hi! I just posted in r/laptopdeals and then found this subreddit :)

I'm looking at this laptop or this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-Predator-GTX1660Ti-Windows-English/dp/B07V4QFKDM

Does the price seem fair? I guess I'm debating waiting until Black Friday to see if the price goes down...
