To anyone interested, this method is used in this book, as well as other mathematical shortcuts.

Enjoy.

Show Me How is perfect! It's just a book with infographics on how to do neat things. I think there's a sequel too.

I used to work in a lab with hundreds of thousands of mosquitoes, and quite a few would get out when we were cleaning their cages etc. (It wasn't a biohazard/disease lab so we didn't have airtight containment chambers)

By far the best thing that worked for us is this thing which is basically an electrified tennis racket that you swing around to zap the mosquitoes. I can't find the exact brand we used, but anything like that should be fine. It requires pretty much no aiming skill since it's so huge.

Other than that, mosquitoes dislike a wide range of scents and will avoid them. DEET is very effective but bad for humans. Citrus scents are also effective. [Note: We couldn't use scent deterrants in my lab so that's not from personal experience, just from reading a bunch of papers about mosquitoes over two years.]

My husband has a deck of cards that has edible plants. Something like that and playing solitaire might help. edible plant deck of cards

Looks great. If you don't mind, I would recommend one thing, if your wife is ever like mine. My wife has several dress shirts that she won't dry, she has to hang. You could get a retractable indoor clothesline and install it in that gap between your shelves. That way you don't have a pole constantly in the way but a spot for her to hang clothes if needed. That's good to hear. For next time, get this. Keep one in each nightstand, one under the top corners of the mattress and one under the top center of the mattress.

Carboy. It’s the same shape as a bucket and doesn’t have a handle. It’s a glass container that’s super heavy when filled with wort/beer. Usually slippery after you brew which makes it even more useful to be able to carry it like this. There’s a LOT of stories on the homebrew sub where people have broken their foot, sliced their tendons, sliced their nerves, etc not to mention had tons of broken glass and like 5 gallons of beer spill onto their floor.

Not the book in question but one I received for my 21st birthday:

Always fun to open to random pages and read a bit.

You can also buy an aide that is like a small cup that fits over your eye. You attach the eye drop bottle to the top of the cup pointing down towards the eye. Within the cup you open your eye and stare at a dot in the cup. While you are staring, you gentle squeeze the bottle, and voile, you have instilled the medication. I got this for my mother when she had to give herself several eye drop medications after cataract surgery. Worked very well. example.

The worst-case scenario survival handbook may fit the bill. Want to know how to jump from a motorbike in to a car? Or win a sword fight?

Another solution is this neat cable. The USB-A end flips up to reveal a micro USB connector that works for OTG charging.
