That's a good use, because that is exactly what a power strip is designed for, and, as you point out, when there is a a spare outlet - but that isn't what the LPT is claiming here.

They're claiming that somehow it would 'guarantee' finding an outlet abroad, and that you can share with other travellers. But that would only work if those other travellers conveniently happen to be from your own country, or happen to have those adapters on them.

Imagine you're from the USA, with a type B USA power strip. You're at Frankfurt airport and all the type F outlets are taken. Unless you can find someone else charging a US device, people aren't going to be that happy for you to take out their type F device and then offer them 5 type B ones they can't use!

Power strips can be super useful when travelling abroad, but more often for applications like yours than this LPT.

I carry a universal adapter with 2 USB outlets and a universal outlet. I can either find someone charging a USB device that I can then share one of my USB outlets with (and charge 1 usb and 1 AC of mine), or I can 'pass through' their plug (of any type) and charge 2 of my USB devices. It actually meets the requirements of this LPT way better than the LPT itself.

Here is my unbiased, heavily researched answer. I'm a doctor and also struggled with blackheads/acne, and the below answers tend to work well for almost everyone.

Use a cleanser and a toner as directed on the bottles once in the morning and once before bed. In addition, the below advice works really well for clearing out and keeping out blackheads, as well as preventing and treating acne.

The reason products like Pro Activ tend to work is they force people into a schedule of doing something productive on a regular basis. You don't need to spend that kind of cash as long as you keep a good regimen going. So in addition to cleaner/toner, follow steps 1-2 below and consider adding #3 for a huge punch, #4 if you want to take it a little further and get rid of some scarring (over time) and really keep your skin looking young, glowing and cleared up. USE PRODUCTS AS DIRECTED when you buy them - don't let a peel sit overnight on your face just because you think it'll help more. That's like turning the oven on 500 degrees to cook your cookies twice as fast - it doesn't work out and you just ruin the cookies. Same goes with your face.

  1. Use a pore strip (the Biore ones work well) to initially clear them out. You can do this 2x/week if you like. It's a way to remove without squeezing (squeezing = inflammation). This gets rid of most of the big ones. I use one on my nose and one on my chin.

to prevent blackheads, follow remaining steps. Some product links at bottom

  2. Use either a moisturizer with salicylic acid (Clean & Clear makes a great one - it's oil free) or benzoyl peroxide plus any other moisturizer on problem areas in the morning after you use a cleanser + toner. Problem areas are usually nose and chin. The acid eats up the blackhead a bit.

  3. Clay based mask (any old kind, cheap, as long as it's clay based) once or twice every week for 15 min to 60 min (you don't have to be strict about the time). Do this far from the time you do the peel (see below). Yes, guys do this. My husband loves it. I do this right after I use a pore strip.

  4. Consider adding a low to medium strength glycolic or lactic acid peel to your skincare every 3-4 weeks once. Follow the instructions meticulously. Don't get 80% stuff. Get lower percentages to try so you don't burn your face off. Don't do a mask within 3-4 days on either side of the peel. The next day or 2 your skin should be a little rough and dead-ish (because the top layer literally dies off faster than usual) and then boom your skin is brighter. This gets rid of the dead flaky stuff that encourages oils to stay in pores.

  5. Finally, if these things aren't cutting it or you are getting to the wrinkle stage of life (or want to prevent them - usually mid to late 30s) consider a retinol based acne face serum or cream. This will increase your acne for a couple weeks because it pisses your face off. Get through it and then your acne should go down. Don't use this if you're female and in the child bearing stages.

Step 1) Buy this book. Dale Carnegie's "How to win Friends and Influence People" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WEAI4E/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1

Step 2) Read this book

Step 3) put this book into practice

Step 4) Repeat steps 2-4 as often as needed

When I read the book and took the class there are a couple things i took from it.

  1. the first rule. Don't Criticize, Condemn, or complain. Nothing turns people off to you as much as doing those.
  2. Be a good listener. Another example of the 80/20 rule. Listen 80% / Talk 20%. Not only listen but actually pay attention. Put your phone down and have a conversation. Don't interrupt people when they are talking.
  3. Make the conversation about them. Ask people about their interests. Talk about what they like, not about what you like.

Making friends is tough. You need to get the other person to be interested in you and that doesn't happen right away.

    And 1 more thing...

NEVER EVER EVER EVER be a story topper. Everybody knows what I'm talking about. It's one of the very first things I will notice about a person and I can't stand people that are story toppers.

So you think adding black pepper to turmeric is just bullshit too. You speak of all this science you believe in but want to pick and choose I guess. All vanillin does apparently is make it not evaporate as fast, what is hard to understand here?

And plus I said more catnip studies need to be done, but catnip essential oil is safe for topical use, so really the only research needed is just larger studies of the effectiveness on mosquitoes.

I've shown you studies on how effective citronella, lemon eucalyptus and now catnip essential oil is on mosquitoes. The only downside for some is how long it lasts. This can easily be avoided by using a oil like coconut oil as the carrier, problem solved.

Plus like I said it works great for gnats as well, which is something DEET can't touch.

http://www.amazon.com/Eucalyptus-Therapeutic-Essential-Edens-Garden-/dp/B002RTVKOC/ref=sr_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465101277&sr=8-7&keywords=lemon+eucalyptus+essential+oil

So for about 11$ you can get 1oz and 10mL of essential oil and only need about 20-30 drops per 4oz spray bottle mixed with witch hazel (or coconut oil). 1 oz is about 500+ drops.

Plus if you read any of the reviews it shows how well it works for other people at repelling them.

it will be total silence

I sleep with just the earplugs in.

if I'm up and reading and want total silence I put the earplugs in and then put the earmuffs over, these earmuffs are extremely comfortable, also you put headphones (earbuds) (for music and movies) on and put the earmuffs over. I can't say enough great things about these earmuffs.

Like someone else said on here your neighbors, landlord, and the cops just don't care. Moving is the only option.
Best advice is to move and never move back into apartments again.

I've suffered from depression for 14 years. I've received this advice from my husband on numerous occasions. But the last time he told me, it clicked. I don't know if it was worded differently or if I was finally in a place to accept the advice, but I've started changing my mindset and I haven't been happier in a very long time. I'll always have to take a cocktail of medication to keep me sane, but changing my mindset will help me live a more fulfilling and happy life. The thing my husband said to me that clicked was Event + Response = Outcome. It's an equation where you have to solve for Response. What Outcome do you want? Figure that out then respond in a way that's likely to get you to that outcome. Also check out this book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0345472322/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469532314&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=mindset&dpPl=1&dpID=51m5-B0GaXL&ref=plSrch

Good luck. Depression sucks, and while the above isn't a cure for it, it's definitely helped me be a more positive, resilient person.

Okay, in my experience, these
don't cover my teeth all the way but they don't make my teeth sensitive and I love these in general besides that whole not covering my teeth all the way thing.

These
work a little better, are a little more expensive, cover my entire teeth, BUT make my teeth slightly sensitive and this has never been a problem.

So you could use sensitive toothpaste for the second kind if it becomes a problem for you too. Or what I've started doing is just alternating with both kinds. Maybe I'll get used to the second kind soon. Good luck and let me know if you try it out and what your experiences are.

I just toothpasted my car over the weekend. It does indeed work. Just buy some simple Crest toothpaste with whitener in it. I doubt the chemical compounds of the toothpaste do anything, but what you are getting is a very mild abrasive compound.

Take a spray bottle of water, slather up some toothpaste on a rag and cover the head light and buff and buff and buff. When you think you've ground down the surface layer enough, spray more water on and rinse and wipe clean.

If this doesnt do it, you can step up to something like Bar Keeper's Friend mixed with water for more abrasion. You can also try 1000 & 2000 grit wet sanding, however you have to be careful sanding them as you could make the surface even more rough and cause it to cloud up again more quickly.

Follow it up with some Meguiars Plastic X polish and you should be good to go. http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-PlastX-Plastic-Cleaner-Polish/dp/B0000AY3SR

> So you think adding black pepper to turmeric is just bullshit too. You speak of all this science you believe in but want to pick and choose I guess

in the context that adding black pepper to turmeric makes food taste better? I don't think that is bullshit. I would think it is bullshit if you said that adding black pepper to turmeric cures a sore throat, cancer, helps the skins, and repels bugs. Though, if there are science backing up any one of those claims, then I would use it. And no, I don't pick and chose my science. I agree with you on lemon eucalyptus, but it was citronella/vanillin mix that science need more research for. (and in the study I provided it did say that vanillin extended the longevity of the repellent.)

> And plus I said more catnip studies need to be done, but catnip essential oil is safe for topical use, so really the only research needed is just larger studies of the effectiveness on mosquitoes.

On which I agree with you. I said it looks promising, but it still needs to be tested for human/animal safely. With new chemicals/substances/cures/etc, you never know how it reacts to human/animals. I simply said that many "cures for cancer" pop up and most never make it final product. Thus, Catnip may turn out to be a dud

> I've shown you studies on how effective citronella, lemon eucalyptus and now catnip essential oil is on mosquitoes. The only downside for some is how long it lasts. This can easily be avoided by using a oil like coconut oil as the carrier, problem solved.

Once again, I agree with you on lemon eucalyptus, but catnip and citronella need more research. Coconut oil (again, adding a new substances, I see) can be used as longevity extender since it is an unsaturated fatty acids (like you said slows evaporation). Again, they look promising as an alternative to DEET.

>Plus like I said it works great for gnats as well, which is something DEET can't touch.

......in a discussion about mosquito repellent.

People can claim anything they want about Citronella Oil or Lemon Eucalyptus and its effectiveness on insect repellent. Only with science, can we determine if those claims are true. Anecdotal evidence is worthless in science.

SureFire Sonic Defenders are my go-to ear plugs as an audio engineer and person who spends a lot of time in loud situations. They aren't your average foam plugs, which actually do muffle the sound a lot. These babies just turn everything down by almost 30db. And they're much more comfortable than some of the other brands I've tried; they're made of silicone so they're very flexible. They're also pretty stylish, and most of their models have color options for different skin tones (though not as much variety as I would like) Looking at their website, they're marketed towards people who hunt or spend a lot of time at the gun range, but they obviously will work in every loud setting. I'm seeing several of their models on Amazon for less than $20, which is great considering one pair will last you at least half a year if you don't let them get too caked up with wax.

Definitely should be wired as much as possible. Channel interference alone can cause a lot of performance issues if you live in a moderately populated area, especially in apartment buildings.

Most wifi routers are pretty poor quality. dd-wrt helps, but wired is much better if possible. I used this for a while and it worked great: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PA4010KIT-Powerline-Adapter-Starter/dp/B00AWRUICG

Even 802.11n doesn't really compare to wired in my experience, living in cities.

This is the lactic acidosis peel I use twice a week. Just swab your face with one of the soaked pads, wait 1 minute (it’ll tingle, pinch slightly) and then douse your face with water to deactivate it.

This is the one I use once a month. At first I thought it was kind of pricey for just 6 uses but trust me, it’s so worth it and actually works. You’ll see and feel the difference in just 1 treatment and year’s worth of treatments at one a month is cheaper than getting 1 microdermabrasion done.

As for the Vitamin C and Argan oil, I try different brands as I see them go on sale.

There is a nice book about this. The present mantra of popular career advice is follow your passion. But this turns out to be not so good idea, becasue to actually have work that has the qualities of good work, you need to have something to give in exchange. That something is your unique skills.

Yes - I bought a cheap $15 bluetooth ODB2 module that links to my phone. From there, I use Torque to manage everything. Great for testing sensors, checking codes, etc... Also cool to have it in my glovebox for when my coworkers need one out of the blue - makes you look cool for half a second.

I never actually asked for a counter article, but I didn't ignore your post. It never showed up in my comment replies, or the thread. I had to check your profile page to find the link. I think that post might have gotten auto-modded or something.

I did read the article though, and it does indeed say in that study that people who consumed 5g a day or more saw the health problems. So I will say that one ramen packet a day is not bad, since it only contains about 1600mg of sodium (about 800mg per serving, with 2 servings per packet according to the nutrition facts). However, if a person consumes a lot of ramen, my point still stands. Say, eating 2 packets of ramen per meal, for two meals in a day. 1600mg of sodium x2 for two packs in a meal = 3200mg. per meal... so 6400mg in that day. According to your article that would be concerning, **IF** it is a regular part of your diet.

As far as equal amounts of sustenance per dollar value: at my local store ramen is 0.25 dollars for a packet. According to the packaging, there are about 85g per packet (each of the 2 servings is like 42 or 43g. By my math that comes out to 3.44 g of noodle per penny.

At this link you will see Barilla penne pasta, which is MORE MONEY UP FRONT, but comes out to approximately 0.07 Dollars per ounce. One ounce = 28 g, meaning these noodles are 4g of noodle per penny. Pretty much equal, yea? If not a microscopically better value, but admittedly more up front for more food at once, which would have to be properly portioned out or the point would be lost.

Also, why are you calling my siblings degenerates? I get that we have different ideas on healthy eating, but you don't know me or my family.

You should consider Frequency reduction values table. I made a little research on this theme, asking vendor for the frequency tables. Here is the table for ~$20-30 earplugs for musicians:

Vendor \ Average reduction Value | 125 HZ | 250 HZ | 500 HZ | 1000HZ | 2000HZ | 4000HZ | 8000HZ
---------|----------|----------|---------|--------|--------|---------|---------
Crioxen Earplugs | 15.1 | 15.4 | 17.1 | 19.9 | 26.9 | 17.7 | 29.9
ER20XS Earplugs | 14.5 | 14.2 | 17.1 | 21.1 | 25.3 | 20.5 | 23.3
Eargasm Earplugs | 14.7 | 14.8 | 16.8 | 20.3 | 24.3 | 21.4 | 25.7
Reverbs Earplugs | 14.1 | 13.9 | 15.2 | 18.7 | 22.2 | 18.3 | 22.1
LiveMus!c Earplugs | 13.5 | 13.5| 14.5 | 17.9 | 23.1 | 18.2 | 20.1

Viofo A119 . I follow r/RoadCam and r/DashCam and it seems like that one is always rated as the best bang for the buck. It's the one I currently use, with a gps mount, and it's perfect. Great night and day quality, easily detachable, etc. It's about $100 and has saved me thousands. It also has given me unlimited content to work with for Reddit because as soon as it turns on, the idiots on the road come out to play. I have the V2, but the V3 is out now.

Something I learned on these subs is that many of the dashcams out today use batteries which aren't good to have when the weather changes so much. I live in Seattle (basically 60 degrees most of the year), but this summer it got into the 90's surprisingly and inside the car could get up to 120 degrees (which may cause a battery to explode). Similarly, batteries wouldn't do good in cold conditions either when it drops below freezing which Seattle also can do. When looking for a quality DashCam, always make sure they don't use a battery, but instead use a capacitor for this exact reason. They will last way longer and won't be as susceptible to failure in weather conditions.

somthing like this could help depending on your need. All the fun of having ethernet in the wall except for cutting of drywall.

Unless you clean the bottom of your pots like taking the chrome off a trailer hitch, seriously, get a cheap travel clothes steamer and hang the clothes over a door if you don't have a steaming bored. They are like $20 bucks.

Edit: Exact model I have. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00070OWMU?cache=4ab21e24ab8f63e0d3cc07aa21679b6e&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1407719700&sr=8-2#ref=mp_s_a_1_2

I recommend this

Two USB charging ports and you can charge your laptop or whatever at the same time. Even comes with a spare fuse.

I have been using mine for 6 months and it gets a lot of use. It has been excellent.

I agree with the apnea conversation. You can also try foam ear plugs like cyclefreaksix mentioned and get a vibrating alarm that shakes your bed to wake you up.

I bought a $7 Bluetooth adapter for my car's ODBII port. It does a lot more than read and clear codes. When they're not on sale they go for around $10.

This is all I can find but it looks about the same. It's not all that light weight or compact but it has worked well for me. 800 Watts ought to do the trick.

Maybe go for an alarm clock for the hard of hearing? I used one for a while, and it worked. It has an attachment you put under your pillow and it vibrates really loud. Worth a try!

Yeah, almost exactly what Cal Newport found.
