I just got one of these for my MacBook (USB C to HDMI Multiport Hub... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SZ535MS) and it works without external power (Note9 only) and supports USB (I use an Asus Chromebox kbd and mouse). Haven't tried headphone out or VGA but the critical bits work.
Going to make this my daily driver while I'm finally at home for a week. I want to know if I can make this my road warrior package. I can always find a monitor.
