Sounds like the brush isn't blending the powder very well.
I'm fond of the Real Techniques blush brush. It picks up a good amount of products and lays it down evenly. My issue with this guy is that he doesn't blend as well as some others because he's pretty soft so I found myself applying the blush and then reaching for another to finish the job. But if you're light handed to begin with, he's a cool little dude.
Sephora's Full Coverage Airbrush is my favorite right now for blush. I originally got him for blending out my bb cream but I like him a lot better with powder than liquid. It blends powders out so nicely. My only issue is that he's surprisingly small. I wish the handle were longer.
I just got these brandless brushes off Amazon on Saturday. So far the angled kabuki is really nice for blending powders as well. I like it almost as much as the Sephora one to be honest. The only reason why it falls a little behind is I prefer the slimmer shape of Sephora's a bit more.
Another Sephora brush is their Pro Visionary Face Blender. The shape is pretty funky but the curve of it hugs your face. I like this, but I prefer to use it for contour more than blush. I'm just adding it in as an option because the thinness of it lets you get pretty precise placement of the powder which is useful.
Hello all, in a previous post made yesterday, I had replied with a picture of a drawer of my Alex 9 unit and received a few of inquiries about how I made my drawer organizers. So, I decided to try my best to tell you how I did it. I apologize I wasn't able to make a complete step by step with a ton of photos, but this process was done over a year ago, and I wasn't really planning on doing it again since I finished!
Materials Needed:
Ruler
X-acto Knife
-I would recommend some extra blades as well-
--Foam Board (the more the merrier)--
Flathead Pins
--Contact Paper--
-The blades become dull fairly quickly, I think I used about four during the process-
--I was able to get a piece for $.99 at Michael’s on sale
---I decided to wrap each piece with contact paper because it makes it very easy to clean. In my actual vanity, I used fabric and it has gotten dirty and damaged and I 100% don't recommend it--
Template Materials:
Copy Paper or Grid Paper
Ruler
Actual makeup products
Steps:
Some other things to note:
In my palette drawer, I created L shaped panels to allow for the palette to be better seen
I also purchased from byAlegory a liquid lipstick and lipstick organizers to build around
In my lipstick drawer, I purchased little glass beads to allow for the products to stand up better
My paper towel drawer has a holder which I created using a wooden dowel and clay
Also, I grabbed plastic liquid dispensers to easily get to my various liquids
Managed to slice my finger open making little lids of acrylic to hold all my disposable paper products
*Most of my other acrylic pieces have been purchased from MUJI
I hope you enjoyed my
~teal battlestation~, if you have any other questions about it feel free to ask. And I'm sorry if it was unclear at all. And, I'm 100% aware I have a stupid amount of makeup that I've gotten over the years as a makeup artist, Sephora employee, and a true Make Up Addict.Wall of text incoming, along with the products that work for me. YMMV with individual products, of course!
All of these are just what I use, and all have alternatives that may work better for you and/or be cheaper. This has evolved over the past two years, I didn't just pick all this up at once and start throwing it on my skin - start slow, and see how your skin adjusts to each step for a week or so before moving onto another product.
I do my "skin routine" morning and evening, with some variations depending on how much time I have and what time of day it is.
First, hydration. Looks like you've taken care of that one! Water, water, and more water is what helped the most. I go through roughly 3L of water at work if not more, plus more once I get home.
Second, I never use foaming cleansers. I cut out anything with foams, and went with a two step cleansing process: first, oil cleansing (I use Banila Clean It Zero) to get rid of the bulk of my makeup. Then I follow with a cream cleanser (Guerlain Lait de Beauty, but there are MANY more affordable options out there).
Then I use a toner. But not the stripping, Sea Breeze type toner, a moisturizing one. Currently using HadaLabo Hyaluronic Lotion. Don't let the "acid" fool you - hyaluronic acid is extremely moisturizing.
Every 3-4 days in the evenings, I use a chemical exfoliator (NEVER physical, my skin can't take it) in the form of a BHA and AHA. BHAs remove gunk from pores, AHAs strip dead skin. Both mine are from cosrx:
https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-bha-blackhead-power-liquid
https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-aha-7-whitehead-power-liquid
Some people leave them for 20 minutes, I don't have the patience, I just go right into the next step and add a sheet mask. If you're new to actives, this will be too often - do them once a week, max.
Then the fun part - sheet masks. I looove sheet masks. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Anything with Hyaluronic acid is my go to. My Beauty Diary Hyaluronic Acid is a staple. I let that sink in while doing whatever around the house. I do one of these a few times a week, every night if I can.
Then I go onto moisturizing. I have a variety of serums, essences, and oils that I use depending on how dry my skin feels, but my basic routine goes:
If my skin is extra dry, I add in an extra moisturizing step here. I use Miss Flower and Mr Honey in summer, Scinic All in One honey ampoule in winter. Or sometimes I use Guerlain Face Treatment Oil.
If my skin is red, I add in CosRX Snail 96 to help control it.
Separate eye cream, ALWAYS. Right now I'm loving Clarins Super Restorative eye cream.
Then the big moisturizers:
History of Whoo Jinyul Essence
History of Whoo Jinyul Cream
Final step for day, sunscreen - Biore Watery Essence SPF50 for daytime. Skipped at night for obvious reasons.
For the night routine, before bed I apply one of these masks:
CosRX Honey Mask
CosRX Rice Mask
Guerlain Abeille Royale Honey Mask
These give extra moisture at night while you're sleeping.
Again, this is not something that happened overnight - I can almost guarantee if someone takes this list and throws it all at their face at once, they'll end up a mess. I added things slowly.
If I was going to recommend an order, I'd go with this:
Wait a week.
You could swap the above two if you have a lot of cleanser left.
Wait a week.
Once you're used to those, add an essence. Something very moisturizing and rich.
Wait a week.
Look at adding in a sleeping pack.
From there, pick what you'd like to address and add them in.
I know it's a lot to take in, so if you have specific questions about any of this, just ask.
I love this look!! I definitely think men shouldn't be afraid to experiment in makeup, even if it's just natural makeup as opposed to "full glam". Other people have already said this but I recommend brushing through your brows with a spoolie and maybe a clear brow gel (my favorite is the brow/mascara duo from elf, it's like $2 and the clear mascara is actually really nice as well). You can also try cleaning up some of the lighter, angled hairs (hopefully you know what I'm talking about) on the tops of your brows with a small eyebrow razor. They're more forgiving than tweezers (hair grows back faster) and way less painful. I use these ones and they're awesome. Your arches already really nice so I don't think you need to clean up under them. :) hope this helps!
I appreciate all women who commit to their shoes. I am the type who will keep their shoes on the entire time their out but will also accept if someone offers me a piggy back ride to the car.
I use mac cork as my eyebrow color and my casual every day crease color all the time. The mac naked essential palette has a color I use too. Pencils look better using the same tip to top method but I just can't make pencil look good on me so I stay with powder then gel.
On the contouring I'm happy to say I've also had that issue and I've figured it out I use a flat top kabuki brush to make very solid thin lines with the side of the brush then use the flat top part to buff it out. I bought these on a whim before christmas and they actually are pretty solid and a good choice. I have to condition them after washing but it worth the extra work for how well they work/the price

You don't absolutely need to have brushes, they just greatly help over your finger. Try either a small set like this Ecotools one, which you can find at most Walgreens/Walmart/Kmart/etc. Alternatively, elf has many $1 and $3 eyeshadow brushes, some of which are excellent.
From elf, I would recommend the eyeshadow, blending, crease, and smudge (smudge brush not sponge!) brushes of their $1 Essential line, and the eyeshadow "C", small angled, contour, angled contour and flawless concealer brushes of their $3 Studio line.
Second, the main thing that you're going to need to do to make eyeshadow (applies to all makeup really) is:
Learn how much pressure you need to use to build color: start lightly at first, you can always add more. The "c" shaped eyeshadow brushes are great for patting color on. You want to use the blending/contouring ones in a windshield-wiping motion to blend across things like your crease or blend out a color line, so that it doesn't look harsh.
It will all look very weird and harsh on you at first. That because you're not used to seeing yourself with that appearance. I know it's a lot to start with, but these are things that I wish I had known to ask in retrospect. I hope this helped, rather than overwhelmed you. Good luck and have fun playing around with it!
I was just dealing with dry skin issues myself and found a lot of good suggestions on /r/skincareaddiction.
Things that helped me (and now my foundation sits soooo much better on my face):
Hope that helps!
All inspired by much research at /r/AsianBeauty!
edit: oops, forgot my cleansers.

For my makeup table I have a 3 way mirror that both sides move, that way i can see all sides (behind when I do my hair). This is mine- http://www.amazon.com/Bobkona-Croix-Collection-Vanity-Stool/dp/B005CWHY7I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1421524863&sr=8-3&keywords=vanity Mine dosent have lighting, but if it did I would want normal light bulbs and not the yellow off color that the lights that save on electricity use. That way your lighting is true to the outside lights.
I wish mine had more storage. Id suggest maybe doing like the picture and having some on top that hold the stuff you use all the time. Mine has drawers that I keep everything else in. To clean it, because mine gets dusty and left over makeup (powder), I use cleaning wipes. Hope this helps!
Apparently Wayne Goss also recommends these dupes, which are super cheap at $10 for 4 with free Prime shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0092SVTGA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I don't have a real Beauty Blender, but I just got these and I love them! They swell up to twice the size when damp, just like the real thing, and "moosh" very nicely against the skin. They're supposed to be a bit denser than the original.
This video is where I first learned to contour. Also, all of her videos are brilliant. On the recommendation of a few folks in here, I bought NYX blush in Taupe for contouring. It works pretty well. Very matte, nicely pigmented...might be a little brown for my skintone, so I just use a very light hand. And you can't beat the $6 price tag. I also use matte bronzer sometimes too. (I have "warmth" from bareMinerals. If you can get a sample somewhere, get it. It might be the best bronzer ever)
THESE! By Ecotools! It is the perfect eye set. The Crease brush works as a totally decent blending brush, which is a super big must-have.
They also sell this little set that I also own and adore. I mostly only use the buffing brush from bronzer and the powder brush for blush! Liquid foundation can be applied pretty well with just fingertips, unless you're like me and you've got calluses. Icky pooey.
The Lorac Skinny is only 15 on amazon. It's pretty awesome and has earthy colors. It's also got a great price point if you can't splurge on the pro.
Also, I feel like a broken record here but wet n wild lipsticks are great an 2.00 a piece and you can buy a bunch of them! Also, their Fergie eyeshadow primer I've heard is great but can't attest to that myself.
Here's a couple good options for palettes: http://www.amazon.com/theBalm-Balm-Jovi-Rockstar-Palette/dp/B0096OBH4Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1416330457&sr=8-3&keywords=makeup+rockstar
http://www.amazon.com/theBalm-NUDE-tude-Eyeshadow-Palette/dp/B00OSNMWJW/ref=pd_sbs_bt_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0N2YFE65FM6P51GASP2F
and brushes- the ELF aren't so bad, some are better than others, but I really like ecotools. Real Techniques are also good but will cost you a little more.
http://www.amazon.com/EcoTools-Piece-Essential-Eye-Brush/dp/B0030HMQTS/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1416330506&sr=1-1&keywords=ecotools
http://www.amazon.com/Real-Techniques-RLT-1406-real-Starter/dp/B004TSFE28/ref=sr_1_22?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1416330506&sr=1-22&keywords=ecotools
I have the rockstar palette and love it.
oh it's so much fun. The top comments in this thread have some great tips. Also to get you started:
I just received my DragonPad 11 piece brush set order today for $11.94 (free shipping with prime). They are sooo soft, on par with more expensive brushes like MAC. The brush denseness is good for the price. The kabuki feels on a little thin, but the rest is adequate. I tried them out on my hand and they worked well! Applied eyeshadows and blended easily. I was also rough with them and no shedding so far. They did arrive with a smell, but I can only smell it when I sniff up close. I think this brush set is well worth the price!
Yay! I’m glad to hear that.
I use Cerave! But when my skin was super dry/dehydrated I started also using Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid lotion and it saved my skin and made it more normal than dry. If you’re interested, you can buy it on Amazon and should use it after you cleanse while your face is still a little wet. Then let it soak in - no rinsing required! Follow with moisturizer. On amazon here: Hada Labo Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist, 5.7 fl. oz. (170ml) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BSNBO9O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8K4YBb80CSH1B
I have two RealTechniques brush sets: RT Core Collection and the RT Starter Set. I've been pretty happy with all of the brushes and I know they're pretty well liked. In addition to those, I use the Urban Decay shadow/blending brush and I have the Bespoke Brush Set from amazon that I use almost every day. I am by no means a pro, but I've been pretty happy with mine so far.
ByAllegory has compact and single eyeshadow holders and they’ve come so in handy! They’re on amazon and have their own website as well. They also have lipgloss organizers which are perfect for liquid lipsticks and lipglosses that would fall over in regular lipstick organizers.
I also recommend getting your lipstick organizers at the container store because they’re cheaper they’re only $6. They also have little single containers they’re perfect for storing things like concealers, mascaras, eyeliners - I have 3 of the small ones for concealers, mascaras, nail polish (i have only 4 nail polishes) and then 1 larger one for lip liners cause they tend to be longer in length.
So, personally, I have never used the beauty blender, but I bought these generics and have been really happy with them.
I did look at reviews between the two and I have heard that the beauty blender is more porous than than the generics and that is why it is softer/squishier. This would also mean that it soaks up more foundation and when using a sponge I think the soaking up of foundation is a bit inevitable. I also would not spend $20 on a sponge, it just seems excessive.
My generic sponges have been stained, but I doubt that's of any surprise. I bought one pack and gave the other sponges away to friends and family last year, everyone is still using them and they have not deteriorated.

For the lips I just used a sheer drugstore reddish color (not very pigmented) and smudged it around my lips with a finger.
Then I darkened the center with NYC Mahogany.
Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer! It smells like mouthwash but is wayyy better than my UD sprays. I used it on my wedding day and, despite the heat, crying, etc., my makeup looked great at the end of the night!
If this is the case, then I can recommend you the product I use right now. Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil in #3 Gray Black is a really great brow product to go with black brows and hair. I got this after seeing it recommended by one of my favorite YouTubers, Jen Chae (frmheadtotoe). She also has a lot of tutorials for monolids, if you're interested in that!
i did! like pretty much everything else i bought storage-wise, they're a little spendier than i wanted, but they're a very nice, heavy acrylic and the height is perfect! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IM0FSCA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_Rju9wbBBT0CQX
I learned with this one on amazon. Super cheap and worked great! I liked the price because I was practicing all the time so I didn't feel bad or like it was a waste when I would redo it a million times.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5TB1LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I do a lot of my shopping online but I've seen it before in store at sephora too, I just did a search on sephora.com for beauty blender and it showed up for $39.95 for 2 blenders and the cleanser! Apparently amazon has it for sale 2 for 20 bucks (no cleanser though), and free shipping if you're a prime member: http://www.amazon.com/Beautyblender-Ultimate-MakeUp-Applicator-sponges/dp/B000I5HJ2Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405482062&sr=8-1&keywords=beauty+blender
Here are the lights I purchased! I've had them for about 7 months now and love them! The lighting definitely helps with my makeup application, it's not too blue and not too yellow- I would liken it to department store lighting or even the same kind of lighting that makeup ring lights have. They have a lot of reviews with good information in them so I would read the reviews before purchasing if I were you.
Thanks! It took the most self-restraint to not scratch my nose with this on. XD I didn't really try to make it last/not smear because it was late at night, otherwise I would have used a setting spray. I hear Ben Nye has a really great setting spray. I know Ben Nye for special effects makeup, so I would expect that it'd work well for facepaint. Though I already have UD All Nighter so I really should have tried that. It probably would be the same. :)
I actually love the stark contrast of the black brows against my skin, I use black eyeshadow for the most part.
That all said, on days that I'm feeling lazy and don't want to spend time making sure they don't look like sharpie brows, I use this gray pencil: http://www.amazon.com/Lioele-Auto-Eyebrow-Gray-Black/dp/B008J7I8MS/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1414961452&sr=1-1&keywords=lioele+eyebrow+pencil
It's not too harsh, just very neutral gray, so I just swipe for a bit and then set it with clear eyebrow gel. I think they are an Asian company. The reason I looked into that was because Dark brown/black hair is so common over there. Hope that helps.
So cute! I love the different colors of pink in your eyeshadow, lips and hair. They go well together!! I bet you could experiment with incorporating a pink like your lips blended into your eyeshadow.
I know people have pointed out suggestions for your brows, I just wanted to add that I use these little facial razors to shape my brows: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014HNOXZS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_yWD-AbYWCC6ZF
Makes it super easy to get into those tight spots for a clean look, but without having to spend the time/hassle of plucking. Just a suggestion!
Tinkle eyebrow razors. They're six for $5, use one every two weeks.
I have blonde hair and always felt conflicted about my "peach fuzz" face because on the one hand I thought that's not another thing women should have to worry about shaving, but at the same time even though mine is very light, it bothered me.
Finally saw those razors recommended, and I'm happy with the results. It doesn't remove every bit of hair, but trims it very close, very quickly, and very economically. It doesn't have any negative side effects when growing out. Just about two weeks later I decide to do it again.
Makeup sits much more nicely on my face.
I have a MALM Ikea desk that I purchased solely for school/regular desk stuff. Since then I've become more invested in makeup and have transformed it into a half vanity half regular desk hybrid. I fit a lot of makeup (like palettes, primers, and large highlighters and bronzers) in drawer organizers in the top drawer of the desk and use the large bottom drawer to store school stuff. On top of the desk I have two Ikee acrylic containers from Amazon here and here that I use for eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipstick, foundation, blush, concealer, and basically everything else. I also have a couple Sonia Kashuk brush holders on top of my desk as well, along with a lighted makeup mirror. I also hung a larger mirror on the wall in front of the desk.
It's a pretty big desk so I can fit a lot on it and it works well for multi-tasking with all of my school stuff.
They're used for stippling on foundation. The beauty blender is kinda the brand name for makeup sponges (like sharpie for permanent marker). This is the [sponge] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006840FE8/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that I use, it's the PURE beauty blender. Ones similar to what OP posted are like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0092SVTGA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3RW1WU31M2I07&coliid=IRE5S2HX4O6WI). You can google for some videos, but the company explains [how to use a beauty blender] (http://www.beautyblender.net/sponge.html).

Love conair! & budget friendly. Look up conair mirror with lights a couple with pop up! :)
Girl save your knife and get a beauty spatula! they're awesome for all containers and even getting into foundation bottle corners :)
2 Ottlites and a Conair light up oval mirror.
(The two big windows on either side help too.)
I like the Ottlites because they're a good simulator of daylight, and fold up when you're not using them. And I like the oval mirror because it has x1 magnification on one side and x7 on the other, which was hard to find for a light up mirror.
I got mine in black from Amazon and I looooooove it! It comes with a cute little stool as well.
Edit: Forgot the link. oops!
Here's where I got mine. It's a few dollars more, but if you have Amazon Prime - free shipping! Woooo!

My favorite brand for facepainting is TAG Body Paints, you can get the individual pots of color and they have some beautiful blues.
Since it is water activated, it will start coming off if you begin to sweat. I use a sealant instead of water to activate the paint (it's my tried and true method). [Ben Nye Final Seal] (https://www.amazon.ca/Final-Seal-Matte-Makeup-Sealer/dp/B005MZ4A7C) is my go to. It's a little bit pricey but it's definitely worth it to make everything fade proof. Then I set everything with a translucent powder.
To remove, baby oil is where its at.
I bought this set from Amazon (from other sellers, it's under $10 but shipping takes longer). They're really soft and pretty good quality!
Not a foundation recommendation but I have the same issue with peach fuzz so I started using these little facial razors and my foundation goes on a lot smoother! And I can wait longer between waxing my upper lip which is a nice bonus.
https://www.amazon.com/Tinkle-Eyebrow-Razor-Pack-6/dp/B014HNOXZS/ref=sr_1_4?crid=28A0O1UC1QJAA&keywords=tinkle+facial+razor+for+women&qid=1572381417&sprefix=tinkle%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-4
My favorite is the lorac skinny nude palette! I've traveled with it a few times already and it was very versatile for me in creating something very muted and light to something smoky/shimmery. It has three matte shades (light, medium, dark) and 4 beautiful shimmers. Here is Temptalia's review with swatches and Amazon has it in stock right now here
I'm finally really happy with my makeup organization. Almost everything is in the top drawer of my 4-drawer Ikea Malm dresser. In the drawer, things are separated by item type (eyeliner, single shadows, brows, etc.) into these, except for palettes, which are in a mail organizer in the drawer. On top of my dresser, everything else fits into one of these except for my brushes which sit in a cup. Then I hung a mirror and a light over the dresser and have a great standing vanity that still has three drawers for clothes and other stuff!
Welcome! If you like it here, of course you should be here! Don't be afraid to post a picture if that's what you'd like to do, mostly everyone is very nice and any criticism is usually very constructive!
What size organizer are you looking for? Do you want one organizer to house everything, or are you looking for different pieces?
I have this for everyday products: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/richards-homewares-clear-19-compartment-cosmetic-organizer-with-drawers/1041660133?Keyword=cosmetic+organizer

I think Sephora is great, but drugstore brands also have a lot to offer! Check out Ulta.com for drugstore brands and more mid-range brands that Sephora doesn't carry (Lorac being a major one!)
Also as someone with very dry skin ont he Asian Beauty Hype Train this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BSNBO9O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00
changed my life. I use it after toner and before moisturizer and it takes away a lot of the flaky dryness. In the morning I use my moisturizer a Nyx primer and the Sephora Perfect Air Brush Foundation and I have no flakes and my makeup feels light, but stays on. The foundation is $28 and looks great in photos and feels very light.
Right now Ulta has a Stila palette on sale for $20 online and it has a couple of purple shades and a few good neutral colors. I personally like Lorac and Amazon is selling a skinny palette [nice and portable] in two different color palettes for $15. Ulta is doing free shipping over $25 right now too.
Lora Skinny Palette
Stila In The Moment Palette
I've had decent success with Amazon brushes, and regularly reach for them. I've used and enjoyed these brushes, especially as a beginner set. They're very soft, no shedding, and pretty versatile.
Bought from Amazon.ca for $17 CAD
SHANY Eyeshadow Palette, Bold and Bright Collection, Vivid, 120 Color https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0026J10CU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_yEcYAbP2TRVEK
pleasantly surprised by the quality considering the price
I purchased these
I like them a lot - very bright and easy to install, though be careful where you place them because the stickies don't come off once placed. I don't suggest putting them on the frame of your mirror because they will take the Finish off. I put mine on the mirror surface.
I'm a fan of the EcoTools Essential Eye Set. I don't do anything crazy fancy, but I can get a good, basic look, or a nice halo eye using these.
The greyest one here is NYX Taupe, with NYC Sunny on the left. Sunny looks very warm/orange here esp compared to Taupe.
I don't know what Amazon's international shipping policies are like, but here's a link for NYX Taupe for $7.50 with free shipping!
> I'm just confused as to why it's mostly happening on one side of my face
It could be a number of reasons. Do you sleep on that side? Or it could be an area that you USED to use actives on. I've noticed that my chin seems to show dehydration first, but I think that's cause I always broke out on my chin and used to apply benzoyl peroxide like it was my job haha.
I'd check out this post: https://np.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/68lq2o/review_my_first_haul_for_dehydrated_sensitive/?st=j29ap4v7&sh=107750a6
(which is new, so you can still comment! lol)
https://np.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/4gltx6/newbies_why_your_first_haul_should_only_have_four/?st=j23lo48x&sh=ae796877
I'd pay special attention to when users talk about repairing their moisture barrier. For me, the biggest difference has been adding in a low pH cleanser to my routine and following up with a hydrating toner. I use the Hada Labo Hylauronic Acid toner and apply 3 light layers each night. This toner is great because it helps with lack of water (dehydration) instead of lack of oil (dry).
I have used this acrylic organizer for more than a year and I love it! It's definitely much cheaper than what many organizers of that size are, and I think it's worth the $35.
I was eyeing some Muji drawers, but I opted for 2 of these instead. I like to store my foundations standing up and the open top part of this lets me do that. I have one for lip products and one for foundation/concealer/highlighter/bronzer.
I'll also second the byAlegory lip gloss organizer. I like to store lip gloss upright, too, and they kept flopping over in regular lipstick organizers.
Here's a better link. OP's link came out pretty funny for me.
Sleek has a simple one
This one is a generic one that several brands sell
Bh cosmetics has this one
I don't have any of these but I've been considering them- I don't know much about their quality, but I would guess Sleek has a good one. Hope someone else can give you more feedback!
I made a post a couple of days ago talking about this $10 Frola Cosmetics powder Contour palette (which has since become a $6.50 add on item... Amazon, you so silly), and promised a more high quality post of how I use it, so here we are! I tried my best to give breakdowns of exactly how I use each color in the description of the imgur album, but if I've left anything unclear or you have any specific questions feel free to ask! I also did My contouring and highlighting slightly more heavily than usual so hopefully you can see what I'm talking about more easily.
Here's a product list of everything I used:
Ooh, that looks nice! Definitely not my eye shape, though. =/ Mine's pretty much like this. Part of the problem is I'm not sure what I want to do with my eyes - I guess I just want to emphasize them, since I like the color, but I'm not sure how one would go about doing that, and I'd imagine there are lots of different ways!
I actually have a ton of other eyeshadow sets/palettes, but they mostly go unused because I have no idea what to do with them, and I don't want to waste them on my terrible experiments! (Which I know is counterproductive, sigh.) The one I use for playing around is the Shany Bold and Bright palette. I also have a couple of these from ELF in purple and grey/black, but they don't have the greatest pigmentation, and unfortunately I don't think the colors look too great on me. :( About a year ago I ordered Shiro's Hobbit collection, which is so gorgeous, but I've barely used it because I don't want to waste it - and also because I don't think I can handle loose minerals yet, lol. Finally, I just ordered a few palettes from ELF (Studio Prism Eyeshadow in Naked and Sunset, and Studio Baked Eyeshadow in California and Texas), as well as Sleek Makeup's i-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in Vintage Romance, and I'm planning on ordering Coastal Scents' Revealed Palette... so I really need to get my shit together before these all arrive.
So basically I think I gravitate towards browns/bronzes, which do go well with my eyes, but I would love to get some golds, pinks, and blues (preferably of the turquoise variety) in there. I'll check out some of the color combos on the Makeup Geek website!
I'm not OP, but I got mine from Amazon and it had the best price that I found anywhere:
http://www.amazon.com/Bobkona-Croix-Collection-Vanity-Stool/dp/B005CWHY7I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413818914&sr=8-1&keywords=vanity
I use a tiny rubber spatula intended for getting the last drops of product out of bottles. It's like this but a different shape. Love it!
I bought this contour palette after it was suggested by another user on here. I love it! It's soo cheap and HUGE! It's really only for lighter skinned gals, though.
If you ever need to buy more, try getting these EcoTools brushes (Amazon link). Each one is about 4.5 inches long (closer to 4 inches if you don't include the bristles). I bought some at Target a while ago and I love them, they're fantastic.
They have one just like this one on Amazon :)
Acrylic Makeup Organizer Cube | 6 Drawers Storage Box For Vanity Tables | By N2 Makeup Co https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WJ1IFWI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_2PkLwbJ7BKJ89
It's eligible for prime if you have that.
I personally have this one from Amazon.
Acrylic Cosmetic Organizer with 3 Drawers, Removable Dividers and Top Shelf by D'Eco https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EKQLX6U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_CSkLwbNFGVEDC
It's smaller but a lot less expensive. It's really nice and the dividers are remove-able.
These lights are great for makeup application! I also apply about 5-5:30 every morning. These lights are bright (and have a dimmer) so I can see everything going on on my face.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00XK9QASE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1467993410&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=makeup+lighting&dpPl=1&dpID=41hG0NNEJiL&ref=plSrch
Yes! I have these amazon brushes and they are amazing. Way softer than my sonia kashuk ones and the blush brush is about as soft as my ecotools one if not softer. I seriously recommend them.
I do! For anyone in the US here's the sigma dupes, and here is the RT dupes. Also I found the bamboo set and this one comes with an extra brush I totally wish came with mine. Not sure of the quality of these as I haven't tried them myself but i'd guess its pretty similar.
Lioele auto eyebrow pencil in gray #3! You can get one from Amazon if you don't have any Asian beauty stores in your area. Perfect for black hair. The pencil is angled so it's super easy to apply, and it lasts. I've filled in my brows before fencing tournaments and still had them look the same after 4 hours of ridiculous sweating. My only quibble is that the packaging is kind of brittle and you'll probably lose the spoolie cap before you use up the pencil, but I wholeheartedly recommend it anyway.
I picked up some Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid lotion when I was in Asia and I love it! I pat three drops' worth all over my face and neck before I apply my daily moisturizer. It's done wonders for my dry patches.
Do you have prime? $22 for a duo pack. I think it's legit, just got mine and daammnn is it soft! Im in love!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I5HJ2Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you have any suggestions or advice on how to go the dewy route, please do tell! You do it very well! I've always gone with matte foundations and have been too worried going into the dewy goddess realm.
I hear that dermablading (shaving) your face will help with makeup application if you didn't want to go the waxing route. I've used these guys to just touch up my eyebrow area if I can't find tweezers, but they work just as well on any other part of your face. But again, haven't gone and used them for my stache.
Can anyone else chime in on face shaving?
The absolute best brushes I've ever used in my life are these Bestope face brushes from Amazon. They're a set of 8 for $8, and they're the softest things ever. They're the perfect density, and I've had them for a year and there's been no shedding or any problems. I reach for these more than my Sephora brushes!
I sure do! I've also seen very similar ones at Home Goods if you have one nearby you! :)
I use this eyeshadow palette (not the cheapest, but it lasts forever and you'll never have to buy another eyeshadow again). Then I just followed the old ROYGBIV principle starting with red at the corner and moving through to the orange, yellow, green, and blue segments across the upper lid. Then I shadowed my entire lower lid with purple while reapplying the colors for boldness and smudging to blend them as they meet. I just used that basic teardrop, shaped sponge applicator that comes with most eyeshadows. Way easier than it looks!
This is the one that I just bought a couple months ago. I use a plastic drawer set next to it to contain all the makeup though.
I bought mine in black, and it was shipped by amazon at the time, so it didn't have the ridiculous shipping cost, but it looks like the other two colors are still shipped by amazon.
If you're looking for something with more storage in it by default, this is one that I was also considering, that I've also seen some of the ladies on this sub with.
Sephora sells them (although apparently not online) for $6. They look pretty much like this: http://www.amazon.com/Every-Beauty-Drop-Spatula/dp/B0069VYSFM
They don't sell at Sephora - idk about Ulta but probably not.
The brand is geared toward theatrical makeup - really good high quality. A lot of brides use Final Seal to keep their makeup on all day etc.
Final Seal
Stage Makeup Set
Foundation Wheel
I use the fourth brush from the left in this set for my all-over base shadow and light brown crease because it's nice and fluffy. I use this brush for the darker brown in my crease because it's denser and more precise. If it feels too harsh, I'll go back with a light brown color on my fluffy brush to blend it out. And this has been my go to for packing eyeshadow on the lid. It's small enough for my lid and does a great job.
I really like the Nyx eyebrow cake powder in black/gray. It doesn't have that red undertone that makes the color look unnatural.
As an alternative, this Lioele brow pencil has a very natural color to it too. Plus it comes with a spoolie at the other end.
Highly recommend Ben Nye Final Seal. It's actually made for setting stage makeup where the actors are heavily makeup'd and under very bright lights. I swear by the stuff!
Fair warning: it's heckin minty. Like, make you wince peppermint in your eyes fresh to death. So do your mascara AFTER you set everything else.
You can pick up a beauty spatula in a ton of places - even walmart carries them in the US. In Canada, you can get them from Amazon (non affiliate link)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DUJEWDE/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awd_7NgBwb2NSHHKM
This is where I bought mine!
*edit: I didn't see the other comment with the same link so forgive the double post, but I highly recommend this organizer!
I bought it in black and I love it so far.
Yep, they do have neutral-only options - here's their palettes page. There's the Unzipped, Pro to go, Pocket Pro, the Skinny Nude on Amazon, and also some new smaller palettes for the holidays on IG and YouTube.
I got the generic ones from amazon. There's like, 4 in the pack for...$10? I think. Don't need to buy the expensive ones!
[EDIT] These ones! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0092SVTGA/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?qid=1394085391&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
http://www.amazon.com/LORAC-Skinny-Palette-Nude/dp/B00KYJDWDY
15 usd with free shipping and mascara! LORAC has a really good reputation for its palettes, but I've only heard of them recently because we don't get this brand in Singapore. This one is often in and out of stock, so grab it while it lasts!
EDIT: Has a mix of matte and shimmery shades though!
Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KYJDWDY?pc_redir=1414610979&robot_redir=1
From what I can tell, this palette originally was sold at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and was sold out in 24 hours. For some reason Amazon is now stocking it! I got three: one for me and two for friends as Christmas presents.
I'm not sure what you mean by missed out on NYX taupe blush. It's still available on Amazon for a relatively good price: here
I also called NYX last week to see when it would be back in stock and they said late November. :)
Updated desk items:
Box to the left:
Muji 5 Drawer Acrylic Case would not really recommend... I can only fit my lipsticks and some blushes into this.
Ontop of box Makeup Brush Holder from Amazon also a cotton ball/QTip holder from Amazon
Box to the right: Awesome acrylic box (that I have now filled up and need a new one of) from Amazon again!
Both Mirrors are from Bed Bath & Beyond... Left i'm not sure but right is the Simple Human Mirror which is INCREDIBLE.
You will be pretty much saying "Hey mold and bacteria, come play in my foundation bottle!" It is not safe nor worth it to dilute products with water. If you want to get every last drop, try a beauty spatula!
Don't know if the exact same brush you're talking about is included, but I have been SO impressed with the Ecotools eye set (this one here, for the curious). Blending time = cut in half.
I have three of those racks for my collection. They do NOT work well for long lipsticks, especially round ones.
I find that my lip glosses and rollerball perfumes are best stored in these extra tall acrylic organizers.
http://www.amazon.com/Conair-Double-Sided-Lighted-Makeup-Polished/dp/B003JFBXMM I like this one a lot! I warn you, though, you're going to get really into cleaning up your eyebrows when you get that 7x magnification. My boyfriend and I both did!
I bought the same one earlier this year for 17.50, here's the link. Looks like the price increased. http://www.amazon.com/Ikee-Design®-Acrylic-Jewelry-Cosmetic/dp/B00DUJEWDE
I know they are taller, not sure about slimmer. Here is one on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Acrylic-Gloss-Organizer-Beauty-Care/dp/B00IM0FSCA and in the review section some people posted their own photos which should give you an idea :)
Here you go! :)

I'll never be able to sit at a large desk with a beautiful mirror at the end of it either.
My setup is on my desk and I plug in a light up mirror that I can have an inch away from my face. I also bought a cheap makeup organizer on amazon to have enough room on my desk.
If you're having trouble seeing and want to put your makeup on at a table, invest in a small light up mirror that you can pull towards you. I got this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003JFBXMM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1487103564&sr=1-1
Try this. I just bought one it is really useful.

What about something like this where you could lay them flat in a drawer?
There are spatulas to scrape out the last week of foundation from glass bottles, highly recommend.

Just get a little spatula. They have ones specifically designed for makeup, like this
IMO the Beauty Blender is overhyped. The texture/shape is different from a normal sponge, but you can get much cheaper versions that many reviewers say are exactly the same.
If you buy it on amazon you can get two for the price of one!
see?
you can also get it at walgreens online
or amazon (These have good reviews but I'm not 100% on their authenticity.)
You can buy two for the price of one on amazon
And they are the original ones.
Kind of the wrong subreddit to post this, would be better suited for /r/asianbeauty or /r/koreanbeauty.
I use the Hada Labo Hyaluronic Lotion (or any moisturizing toner) with peelable cotton puffs or a compressed facial sheet.
Here's an amazon link!
Oops I thought I linked to the Amazon page! Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D5TB1LK/
I got them as a set on amazon when I was living in the States! Here's a [link] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DUJEWDE/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_Zl2Lwb9V32AT3).
You could get one of these. Worth every cent.
Not sure if this will work for you but someone posted the Amazon link for it here - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005CWHY7I/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_p5yGwbSTH52CE

Just bought mine on amazon, here
I live in Houston... I think the best thing for the summer here is Ben Nye's final seal setting spray link. It has made a world of difference for me. That shit is practically waterproof.
I would try the same makeup you use now plus this spray over it
You could get a beauty spatula and scoop some out every time.
Try this for applying liquid foundation. You will not regret it.

I wanted deep drawers but there are smaller acrylic organizers for slightly cheaper or you can just spend an extra 30 Ish dollars and get Alex drawers
I bought this one. Decent quality for the low price. The two kabuki brushes are my favorites for achieving an airbrushed finish (I prefer it to a BB, but that's just me).

^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
I have used the tinkle blades and the sephora brand ones but they both are a bit longer so I wonder if I should try out the smaller ones.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for but you can try the lorac skinny pro. It fits in your budget and it's a neutral eyeshadow palette.
I bought this set and I've had no issues with any of the brushes.
I know they're not handcrafted Japanese quality, but for the price I do think they're really decent. I will not pay anymore for a brush set until the need presents itself and I know exactly what I'm looking for and can justify the price.
For anyone curious about what to store your liquid foundation in after you've hacked open the bottle, these are the guys I use and found to be a good size and pretty damn airtight. I had tried several others in the past, but they don't travel as well as these do.
Also, this is hokey but every year my aunt gives this to us and I swear by this damn thing for glass bottles in case anyone wanted to know how to get every lost drop from bottles you can't just hack open lol.
I have not seen it in my store, ever, nor a spot for it on the shelf. But I do know it's easily obtainable from amazon if you really really can't ever find it at ulta!
edit: wrong link!
