Hey there! I love wearing bold colors, but I agree with you that sometimes they don't match my skin tone. I usually cover up the top over with a lip creme that works well with my skin tone. Here's what I do:

  1. Apply lip primer before you start. Here's one that I love using--I usually don't like using lip liners for some reason. Either they're too hard (sharp?) or they don't work very well.

  2. Use a flat round-tipped brush like this one to apply your lipstick. I have all my lipsticks repotted into flat metal pans but you can also just pick up the lipstick from its original stick container with the brush and apply it onto your lips that way. I usually start with a bright color (like magenta) and then blend it with a muted color (like mauve/brown) to add dimension to my lips. I cover my entire lips thinly for every layer.

  3. If you're not happy with the color, add a different color to change the tone. Sometimes I do 2-3 layers of lipstick (very thin layers) and then cover with a matte lip cream. My favorite one is Meet Matte Hughes in Committed. I also use my lip brush to apply the cream/liquid lipstick.

  4. This step is very important if you want the refined look: Take your liquid foundation, squirt a very small amount onto your palm or finger. Then take your beauty blender or small brush and dip the pointy end into it. Use this on just the outside of your lips to cover up any mistakes. This creates a sharper edge between your lip color and your face. You can smooth out the foundation by going away from your lips. Be careful not to go overboard at this step or you'll make your lipstick look smaller than your lips. If that happens you can just use the lip brush to fix it.

  5. To set your lipstick, you can cover your lips with a tissue and brush on face powder with a big, fluffy brush to blend it better with your face. Usually if I wear the Meet Matte Hughes brand, I don't have to do this step because it "finishes" the look already.

    Hope this helps. Have fun!

Since you're really pale,
I would suggest some asian brand makeup for foundation.

That foundation is HIGHLY popular. My mom uses that one and it makes her skin color looks great (gets rid of all her redness and brightens her face up)
Or maybe for redness, you could use CC cream. (color correction cream)

I used one before as a sample (from the face shop). Holy... it's like my pores vanished.

you might need a oil control moisturizer like Neutrogena's Oil-Free Oil control moisturzer (combination skin version). I use this twice a day (once in morning and night after showering/washing face before bed) and I dearly wish I knew of it earlier.

For the oiliness, you might be applying too many layers of makeup that dries your skin and makes it oiler as the day goes by.
Try just applying maybe a liquid foundation and a powder finish.

Contouring is totally possible for a pale skin person.
The only way to be good at makeup is to get a good makeup remover (i suggest an oil based one for its gentleness and overall better removal effienceny) and sit in front of a mirror and play around until you are happy.

I suggest makeup revolution for a great budget makeup!
I feel that a lot of the stuff they have works just as good as the high end expensive stuff.

Check out Carmindy's 5 minute face for techniques. The video is on YouTube, it's really basic. I agree with other commentors that you should go get shade matched. Ulta seems to be better than Saphora for that. Once you know what shade you wear in their higher-end stuff, plug it into the Foundation Matrix here to get drugstore brands (if you want to save some money, not sure what your budget is).

As far as what to use, here's what I'd recommend as a starter package:

Liquid foundation or a BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer (foundation is better if you have reddness, acne, or other trouble spots to deal with, the other products are good if you have generally good skin and just want to even out the tone).

Pressed powder (I love Milani's Conceal and Perfect)

Single eyeshadow in a shade 1-2 shades lighter than you skin tone. Use it on your browbone, inner corner of your eye, and top of your cheakbone, you don't need anything else for an everyday look. I use Wet N Wild in Sugar since I am pale but Creme Brulle is supposed to be really good as well if you're on the lighter side of the spectrum.

Blush. Wet N Wild Color Icon in Pearlescent Pink is really good. It looks pretty alarming when you see it but it goes on really sheer and creates a really natural flush.

Basic black mascara.

A set of makeup brushes will also help. I use the Unimex one and it has just about everything you need. Here's a link:

I haven’t read any reviews on the KVD lash liner and personally I don’t know anyone who uses it so I can’t say whether it’s good or not.
The products I like to use:
L’Oréal
maybelline
urban decay waterline
And brushes I prefer:
real techniques silicon liner brush This one helps me push gel into my lashes easier to fill in gaps.
sigma e10
sigma e06 for easier winged liner in my hooded eyes.
And for the “stamping” I use a flat japonesque brush that they apparently no longer make as it is about 10 years old BUT sigma makes quite similar that are on sale rn that are described as “tightline and waterline brushes.”
sigma e17
sigma e16

To REALLY get in between the lashes place your ring finger (don’t push too hard!!) on your eyelid right above the lashline of where you’ll be placing the product and lift up a little bit. Tilt your head back so that you’re looking downward to the mirror a little bit. That will keep you from blinking/tickling ish as well as spread the lashes so you can work the product into the gaps easier. It also helps keep that part of your eye from getting wet as it will pull it away from your eyeball a little bit. If you get teary, you can squint your lower eye a bit and it should force the tears out so you can keep going once you’ve let them fall from the corners. Do this all before the rest of your shadow. Allow yourself to blink if you must and you can dab off excess moisture on your upper waterline and lashline with a clean finger.

If you use pencil you can use a blow dryer on the tip for a few seconds (not too long! )to warm it up and make it glide easier and be more malleable.

Again, there are many techniques I’m sure that are easier that other people use, this is just what works for me❤️

This is my favorite palette ever: https://www.amazon.com/l-f-Eyeshadow-Piece-Palette-Natural/dp/B00AB4ZTEW?th=1
I think the texture is good and pigment is rich, not too much glitter but a little shimmer, they don't leave too much fall on my cheeks with application, and I LOVE the two beige colors that are in the first two columns on the left, second row up from the bottom. I wish they just made those two colors in huge singles, because I love them as a base for a lot of things but also by themselves. At around $7 usually, I just end up buying a new palette when those run out b/c I never use up the other colors.
