Sale discounts for new manga in US:

  1. Rightstuf holiday sales: 50% off. Only for select series, but includes popular titles like Berserk and Jump stuff.

  2. Barnes & Noble buy 2 get 1 free: ~33% off. Often you can get more than 33% with additional coupons and some volumes aren't at retail price to begin with, BUT you have to play around with the numbers because they take the cheapest things as free.

  3. Rightstuf publisher sales: 33% off.

  4. Rightstuf non-sale: 25% off. They often give out 5~10% off coupons with orders, which can lower this more.

There are also other retailers like instocktrades which give 40% off regularly, ebay for used stuff with relatively common coupons (going up to 20% off), and Amazon where volumes go for 50% off randomly (for example, Grand Blue Dreaming vol. 2 right now).

Canada has Indigo, which goes up to >50% off: detailed sales info

I don't know quite how much you are buying them for on eBay, but, if possible I think it's best to order from Amazon 1st Box Set 2nd Box Set, I bought the first two box sets for roughly £120 ( £60 - £65ish each ). Good luck!

Edit: And if you didn't know, they both come with some really good looking posters, I have pictures if need be! :)

Thanks! Here’s the link to the bookshelf just a basic one off of amazon! Got it because it matches my desk pretty well South Shore 4-Shelf Storage Bookcase, Pure Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002VECNTE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_L2PPCbN4M733G

I try to keep it somewhat neat and clean lol

Yeah I'll probably focus on finishing My Hero Academia first (or catching up to it at least) and then work my way through other stuff.

Right now the on going debate that I have with myself is that if I want to either buy the individual copies of the manga or if I want to go with the trade version of the manga.

For example:
Get the singles (or the bxo set of singles) https://www.amazon.com/Naruto-Vol-1-Uzumaki/dp/1569319006/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Naruto+Manga&qid=1556685416&s=gateway&sr=8-5

or get the trade like the ones that have 3-4 in this giant ass book
Like this https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/naruto-masashi-kishimoto/1118028884?ean=9781421564753#/

I reckon I want to do the box sets and just do the individual ones instead of buying the trades of them.

Also, if English isn't your native I saw you said Spanish. I'm Mexican myself so you are more than welcome to speak spanish.

Very happy to see Utsubora showing up in more collections. :) You seem to like Junji Ito; which one's your favorite out of the ones you own, and will you be picking up Shiver?

u/Shigofumi · 1 pointr/MangaCollectors

Thank you for making the list bro, it's hella dope. The Chobits set is a slipcase with volume 8 only and a PVC figurine (the figure is the same as art on the cover of vol 7). You had to individually buy volume 1-7 so then you could put your books into the slipcase. Here's a picture of someone who sold one a mint condition one. It's exactly how my own looked when I bought it at Borders Books and Music many years ago.

IDK how you'd define CCS' box. The CCS manga is 12 volumes total. The first 6 were Tokyopop's left to right American style print. Which covered the 1st arc in the story with her bird wand. Volume 6-12 were primarily with her star wand. For this second half Tokyopop had begun printing manga normally (right to left). But they reset the number count making this batch numbered 1-6 as like a CCS 2nd Edition.

The bonus content for these is that they included a made up "clow card" bookmark (colored, glossy, between the cover and the first page with perforations for you to easily rip out as if it were a coupon book) in each of the volumes in the set. So you get 6 bookmarks total. These were not present in the individual loose volumes sold.

https://www.amazon.com/Cardcaptor-Sakura-Volumes-Special-Collectors/dp/1591826624

PS; do you have/have you made a similar list for omnibus releases? I was thinking about these two how they had individual volumes, and a 'box set', and also an omnibus release with multi volumes in one with some additional content. Like Dark Horse's Chobits omnibus had like 16 color pages of artwork in each.

What the hel!!!!
Wow!!!

You should've taken some pictures of at least one of the books without the dust covers on.

I don't have the money for it.. 290 with the shipping..
It's perfect..

EDIT: Through Amazon, as opposed to the 290USD option through Rightstuff, I have ordered it for myself to where I am, south-east Europe, for 168 USD (143€)!!!
I took the middle shipping option, can be purhcased for 139€
.

Edit2: How do you, OP, already have your one? It's due to being release only at the 21st of Nov. thus isn't it unreleased as of yet..?

Edit3: I am excited about this, thank you for sharing this on this sub!

i’ll be honest with you, i don’t even have a bookshelf so i can’t answer that question with 100% confidence. i would assume just looking up shelf bracket, something like this would probably work

u/HolyManBob · 2 pointsr/MangaCollectors

I also love how nicely the shelf height fits the books! and yes they are Billy Bookshelves with 2 extra shelves. I was going to get the top extensions as well but it was like 1-2 inches too tall for my office ceilings :( The black things are just book ends. I bought the through Amazon I'll give you the link below.

u/xXIRedStrikeIXx · 2 pointsr/MangaCollectors

For the Berserk figure, this is what I bought, but the price increased dramatically.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7YOWVA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But there is a similar pre-order for a much better price (the blade is just a little different)

Here are the Goku figures I got:

SSJ3 Goku

u/flavvvvvv · 2 pointsr/MangaCollectors

Not sure if that was sarcasm but ping pong is getting a release next year! Great collection btw!

u/futureroboticist · 2 pointsr/MangaCollectors

It’s something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B6PXGTM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Jsn7CbB5SZVB6
I also found one that looks pretty tall but I can’t find the link atm on my phone.
I am researching my options, there are also cheaper options like putting moisture absorber in air tight containers, and you put moisture gauge to monitor it yourself.

Dimension W glows in the dark, that's pretty nifty.

> Ah... I can see that. The first manga that I got also didn't have furigana :')

I see :( What series was it? How was reading through it?

> How do you study kanji? If you know the radicals, it isn't that difficult to look them up (still a lot better if we know the reading though haha)

Good point, I'll have to try looking them up by radical instead of drawing them :) I've been going through Heisig's "Remembering the Kanji" to learn new kanji and I try to learn how to read/write them when I learn new words.

> I didn't even know that it existed for English volumes... Where do you get them?

I don't think they're specifically for books, but my friend recommended these which I've used for some of my volumes. I'm not sure I like the ziploc, though; it's kind of difficult to get them in and out. Were you talking about something like this?
