Neat. Is there a way to hook this up to a RetroPie? Would I need one of these or something like it?

Hyperkin's 6-button controllers are almost as good as the original. They're nearly identical, and are the best third-party controllers I've used. They're super cheap and it looks like some people get bad ones, but you can always send them back to Amazon if they don't work for you. I've used one for a few years with no issues.

I don't know if this is the cheapest place to buy them, but these are the ones I'm talking about.

I hear the 8bitdo m30 2.4ghz version is very good.

linky link link

(It is wireless though so may not be suitable for speed running due to latency)

Edit: added more info.

Check out the Minigen HD. I have no complaints about mine so far. I use it with my old childhood Genesis games. I just streamed Beavis and Butthead as well as Stimpys Invention from it, I’ll link my twitch at the bottom if you want to see how it looks and sounds.

The one he has been playing lately was this

I have not heard him complaining about input lag with it. Are all new "consoles" emulator based with low processing power an lots of input lag? Even those with a cartridge bay to play original games?
