12. Phillips LED Dimmable A19 Light Bulb with Warm Glow Effect 450-Lumen, 2200-2700 Kelvin, 5.5-Watt (40-Watt Equivalent), E26 Base, Frosted, Soft White, 16-Pack

    Features:
  • Philips A19 LED light bulbs with Warm Glow Effect provide 450 lumens of soft white light, equivalent to 40-Watt incandescents. These bulbs fit standard medium base (E26) fixtures with the look and feel of a classic bulb. Not for use with Philips HUE products.

  • A19 soft white light bulbs are perfect anywhere you need a balance of clarity and warmth with the flexibility of dimming in an slightly smaller bulb. The E26 medium base fits standard fixtures on pendant, vanity, and bare lamps.
  • This 16-pack of A19 LEDs is expected to deliver a lifetime of up to 15,000 hours and over 20 years based on standard usage of three hours per day, saving you the cost and hassle of frequent bulb replacement.
  • COMFORTABLE LIGHT: Our products meet strict test criteria including flicker, strobe, glare and color rendition to ensure they meet EyeComfort requirements. Switch to Philips LED, light that’s designed for the comfort of your eyes.

There is a long history of not necessarily creative suits deciding they can improve a movie. They say they love the movie, like Terry Gilliam ‘s Brazil, which was improved by one suit by chopping off 20 minutes, and instead of the original dark ending creating a happy ending.

Or Harvey Weinstein who loved Shaolin Soccer so much he tried taking the axe to it to so as to improve that movie. Same with Snowpiercer.

Fortunately these films are available in their original, pre-suit improvement, versions.

I would say that both the book and the movie told the story very well in terms of their respective mediums.

The book goes into more detail of Ellie's youth, the prime numbers and how the message is encoded. It also goes into more depth regarding the philosophical discussions she has with Joss (Matthew McConaughey's character), the international cooperation that occurs in building the machine.

Essentially, it's the story of any book - unbound by the runtime of a movie, and given readers ability to re-read things until they get it, the book goes into a level of detail that many movies can't.

Oh, and the book is written by astronomer Carl Sagan, so it's science is pretty solid (for the real stuff) and convincing (for the fictitious stuff). If you enjoy reading sci-fi, definitely give it a shot. Here's the Amazon link.

I enjoyed both the movie and the book, seeing the same story come to life in two different forms.

I learned about the significance of the pin while reading "The Nazi Officer's Wife", a book about a Jewish woman in Austria who survived the Holocaust.

She had a friend who was an original Nazi Party member with the special pin who used her influence to help the woman escape Austria with a new, non-Jewish identity.

It's a really good book with a crazy story: https://www.amazon.com/dp/068817776X

Yes, they are pros. They watch several times and script their jokes. You have discovered one of the funniest things of all time.

I have never laughed harder than when watching this show.

For some quick fun, they also have "shorts" where they make fun of short educational videos. A ton of then used to be on hulu for free, no idea if they still are. In my opinion these are often funnier than the show itself.

OBSERVE:

Also, although the show is dead they live on as "rifftrax" which is just as good as the show if not better.

Many of these are on amazon prime video, I mightily reccomend "Frankenstein island."

Also also, every few months they do a live riff in theaters, so you can go and have a ball with your friends.

Would this be the one you mean? I'd like to read these, but yeah definitely don't want to try to hunt down individual issues, and prefer physical for my reading media. Thanks for the help!

That is super cool to hear!

Hey, if you don't already own it on Blu Ray, go add the multiformat one here to an amazon wishlist and send me the link, I'll send it to you!

Two things I'm a fan of is this movie, and people in love.

Excellent suggestion!

Let's start with the original soundtrack

Or the official video

Here's the Wikipedia artile

Depending on the country in which you saw the movie, there was a cover version included that played over the end credits. In the US, that was Demi Lovato.

And now that I've gone through all of that and gotten these links, I found out who Adelle Dazeem is. So, you got me on that one :)

Richard Williams is amazing, he wrote the book on animation, literally. The animators survival kit is pretty much the go to for anyone who wants to lean how to animate. And I highly recommend it if you want to learn about how good animation is done.

That's assuming the camera has an infared LED for night vision. The easiest way to find a hidden camera is buy a 15 dollar doohicky like this. You look through the filter and you can see the reflection of the sensor through the lens as a bright red dot. Here's a video of a guy testing one out. You can search around YouTube for more.

When you can buy a camera that looks like a screw for less than 20 bucks it's not the worst thing in the world to be wary.

u/itsgallus · 11 pointsr/MovieDetails

Haha, yeah I agree! In fact, Burtt and Lucas did go through each script and wrote actual lines for R2. Then Burtt crawled into a corner with his recorder and whimpered in the approriate tone for each line, then later combined it with a synth (something along those lines). I wouldn't be surprised if that was R2's actual line.

Source: This book, highly recommended.

so it’s subjective. depends on the type of light you want. i wanted something with the warmth of incandescent, dimmable, and not too bright, and this is it. def not overly warm though, i’ve experienced bulbs that are just yellow and gross, these phillips ones are nice. 40w equivalent, so not super bright, but they do make a 60w equivalent in the same bulb line.

also when you turn it off. it has a nice fade out which i like. all e26 bulbs in my apartment are this type. love em. if you’re uncertain, maybe get one and see if you like it.

And don't forget that Disney didn't acquire Pixar until 2006. They had a partnership for distribution but Pixar was well-established before being owned by them.

BTW, the origins and methodology of Pixar are fascinating, everyone should read Creativity Inc if they get a chance.

Sure that's not just a shitty quality version of the poster?

It's perfectly visible here

-e- here too

> That's a really great article going into way more detail of what transpired that fateful day that I would have thought.

It's only a great article because they were able to transcribe portions of the book which did the work to document this stunt. Gizmodo sure as shit wouldn't do all that research on its own.

Here's the book.

Interesting. Like I said, it was a guess; I can't find any concrete info on why it's titled like that, but it is the only Marvel movie with "Marvel's" at the front.

It's onscreen at the end of the film, on digital listings for rental/purchase and the trailers, and and on the cover of the Blu Ray. From what I can tell, the posters at the time are the only official material that refer to it as just "The Avengers".

It was like it's own series of 33 issues. You can buy the three volume set on Amazon.

Vol 1

Vol 2

Vol 3

Howeverm if you are not in a huge hurry, they are releasing it as a 2 volume set, and you can preorder the first one which comes out in May.

Getting the 2 volume one will save you a lot because it costs more for the 3 separately anyway, and somehow it's hard to find Volume 2 (of the 3 set), so the price is higher.
