31. Mavoro Strong Magnetic Hooks for Hanging. Up to 65 lbs. Set of 4 Black Magnet Hooks Heavy Duty Magnets, Neodymium 52 Rare Earth Magnets. Rotating Swivel Style Magnet Hook for Refrigerator, Locker etc

    Features:
  • Hold everything, onto anything: The first thing most people notice about Mavoro Magnet Hooks is the incredible strength. Because we use only the strongest rare earth heavy duty magnet for our strong magnetic hooks. How strong? Heavy winter coat and loaded up backpack strong! Up to 65lbs in fact!
  • Eliminate the coat rack: Whether you need magnetic hooks for cruise cabins, adhesive hooks for the side of your filing cabinet, door or whiteboard, or, stick on hooks for the fridge or campervan, this set of 4 magnetic hangers sets you free from the bulk of a standing coat hook, and stuck mounted wall hooks.
  • Hold awkward things: Unlike other door hooks, these strong magnet hooks can hold odd shaped things, like headphones or coffee mug! Or, hang your keys and hang something else on the same hook! They’re also rust free, for use as a towel hook! And, the unique design stops things from sliding off.
  • Like a big magnetic rotating swivel: Each magnetic hook is 2.25” long with enough space for hanging. The magnetic disc is 1.42” diameter. Easy to carry in your bag for those times you need a bag hook in a restaurant! Available as a 2 pack or 4 pack, and White or unique Black Raven.
  • Aside from being the strongest, most ergonomic and well-designed hanging magnets you’ve seen on your search today, Mavoro Removable Hooks also has a solid 4.5 Star Rating. And a lifetime guarantee (… not that you’ll need it), so go ahead and try them out now and see! Keep away from pacemakers. DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS BETWEEN TWO OF THE MAGNETS, magnets can cut, pinch or entrap hands and fingers

If you have cable, log into CMT and they have a 3 part series called "Nascar: The rise of American Speed" that you can watch for free. They go from the early days before Nascar started, through the forming of nascar, to Building Daytona and Charlotte, all the way up to current day. I highly recommend watching it. They use actors and act out the story, rather than tell it. I learned so much, and I thought I was a mega fan.

If you dont have cable you can also buy all 3 episodes for $5.99 on Amazon

Also, there is a great movie on Dale Earnhardt, one of our heroes that died at Daytona in 2001, called "3: The Dale Earnhardt Story". You can watch it here on youtube.

EDIT: Here is a great list of memorable finishes

This might not be the best overall, but I can remember actually laughing out loud in a completely silent classroom while reading some of the stories about Dale Earnhardt in this book. I recommend it as a good read for anyone interested in Earnhardt, a good amount of the off the track stuff was new to me.

Living at home. Saves money but.....living at home.

I love, love, love the case - have had it for a year now. Very easy to hang. You can take the door off the hinges. Four holes for the screws. Position the case where you want, mark the four holes with a pencil, then you put in plastic anchor screws at each mark, then simply screw the case into the anchor screws.

The tilt is what really makes it unique and awesome. Not sure there's a better way to display a collection. Got it here:

Nothing at the moment, but I've been thinking of ordering this.

I'd love to know more about car setups, and, it could possibly help with iRacing too, so, it'd be neat to test some of the stuff out.

The song is "First Breath After Coma" by Explosions in the Sky. It's off their genre defining album "The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place". If you like the song, then you'll love this album and their music. Seriously, go out and purchase the album, some of the best 6 bucks you can spend anywhere. Amazon link here

But I would agree that Jr's book is among the best that's been published lately. It's a really excellent book.

"Race With Destiny" by the late, great David Poole is excellent. Tells the story of Alan Kulwicki's championship, along with everything else that happened that year...

I just use these wired ear pieces and cheap $10 generic ear muffs over. $20 total and work perfectly and comfortable. Plus, I can still hear the radio when I go to the concourse and don't need hearing protection.

Edit: In full disclosure, I linked a Smile Amazon link. It's not a referral link, but donates a portion of the sales to charity. All of my Amazon links do that, so I forgot that when I linked, wasn't trying to pull any wool over anyone's eyes.

Dang, used to live in Tucson and was unaware of the proximity. Lot of great cars in there. The Porsche LMP2 is particularly special, as it outshone and beat the diesel Audi R10 LMP1 juggernaut at Sebring that year, and was competitive against the faster class all throughout the schedule. Legendary times in the ALMS.

Some reading suggestions:

The Unfair Advantage - Mark Donohue's pseudo-autobiography cataloguing his and Roger Penske's continual development of the cars they raced in the 1960s and 1970s, a true golden era for gains in automotive racing technology and performance.

Beast - the story of Penske's secret Ilmor-Mercedes engine project that once again gained the unfair advantage and lead to victory at Indy in 1994.

I would suggest "NASCAR: An IMAX Experience" from 2004. It's available (not free unfortunately it looks like) virtually on google play, youtube, and Amazon. Here's the Amazon link:

Great place to start IMO

The good thing about the FanVision cables is that it uses a regular Mini USB plug that can be picked up at a place like Best Buy or online

No problem. There appears to be a slightly newer, "improved" version here for $34. Or you can get the same version I have, here for $26.

Either way, basically the same radio, may as well just go with the cheaper of the two. Both are the same unit internally; but if things like a multi color backlight for the screen are important, the $34 dollar one is better.

With either, you'll also need a headphone adapter plug, 2.5mm to 3.5mm, here for around $5.

  • Real NASCAR By Daniel S. Pierce - My go-to NASCAR history book; he covers a lot of the sport's business dealings and gets further into some more recent eras (late 80's/early 90s) than some other "History of NASCAR" books.

  • Driving With the Devil by Neil Thompson - The top of my hypothetical NASCAR 101 reading list. If you want the literal dirt on the sport's formation and NASCAR's organization, this book covers it. Thompson takes care to feature a lot of the big stock car racing players outside of the France family, which is incredibly eye-opening.

  • He Crashed Me So I Crashed Him Back by Mark Bechtel - With the best title out of any NASCAR book, this one just gets deep into the 1979 season, which only got crazier after the groundbreaking national broadcast of the '79 500.

  • NASCAR Generations by Robert Edelstein - Has a lot of firsthand accounts on almost all the famous NASCAR families.

Scanner: Baofeng UV-5R v2, $33. I have the previous model of this one. The older model is now $25.

Antenna: Nagoya NA-810 2.5-Inch Mini-Whip VHF/UHF, $14. The stock antenna on that radio has a lot of bleed, I changed the antenna on both of my radio's and the next race we went to there was no bleed whatsoever.

I just use normal earbuds for audio and have noise cancelling ear muffs, but plan on getting a microphone headset in the future.

Noise cancelling headset here

So for a little more than the price of renting one of the scanners you can buy your own and have it ready to go every year. We go to multiple races a year, so after two races we were already saving money on scanners.
