I’m not positive about this but I’m pretty sure you’re correct in that you can’t just use any external drive. But if you’re getting one off of eBay just make sure that it’s a 360 S drive. And I believe it’s on the bottom of the console there’s a cover where you can just take it off, take the drive that’s in there out and put the new one in.

This one seems to be a bit cheaper, but gets expensive quick.
On Ebay It ranges from $57 to about $155 on that first page. Hell, the first item on the list is for the box alone. Wow.
I'm happy to have paid what I did. The dynasty mode is well worth it alone, and it was still under retail price anyways. Others may not be so lucky. That's why if anyone here mentions they're going to try GameStop, always look for discount codes and use powerup rewards points if you have them. You might can find discounts for Amazon, but I've never tried, so I have no clue. You're buying from individual sellers on Amazon, and not Amazon itself. So I don't know if the same concept would apply.
