Wash Day: Morrocan Curl Cleansing Conditioner

Or, I Co-Wash with Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Moisture balance conditioner. I also prefer the TJ's shampoo when I need to wash my hair to remove product buildup (which I do once every two weeks).

Post wash I use the LOC method to moisturize.

Leave In - Giovanni Direct Leave-In Weightless Moisture Conditioner

Oil - I use my own mixture I created with Peppermint Oil, Tea tree oil, Black Castor Oil, Almond Oil, Avocado Oil and Olive Oil. My hair really loves it.

Cream - I wear my hair in twist outs, the cream I use for my twist outs is the Cantu Conditioning Curl Cream

I retwist my hair once a week (personal preference).. and I use a bit of Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream, but sparingly, as it makes my hair feel slightly crunchy, I only use it in the front for my bangs to curl up very tight when I twist them.

For edge control, I use the Olive Oil Eco Styler gel..

My hair is 4b/4c. Chopped two years ago -now past my shoulders, nearly 16 inches in length. I tried a LOT of products before I found those my hair likes.

Also, I recommend checking out Amazon's Texture's and Hues page. It's for women of color.. and it's AMAZING.

No problem. I think it will make a big difference. The TGIN Honey Miracle Mask is a really great deep conditioner that many people love. I put a plastic cap on and then use a microwavable heat cap like this, very easy and convenient, works great.

Best advice I can give you is start using the ACV bar. It's a solid shampoo bar that is just amazing. Vegan product with no sulfates, no preservatives, just lots of apple cider vinegar, neem, shea butter, castor, etc. And this shampoo bar lathers like crazy! The smell is a little weird, but it after rinsing it smells great. It took about a week to adjust to using a shampoo bar, but my dandruff & itch are pretty much gone. :-)

I'm still unsure if my hair is for sure low porosity, but I've been using the Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque as a conditioner and leave in. I love the smell, and it makes my hair very soft. I get pretty nice results without leftover residue just sitting on my hair.

I've had similar problems. A main factor is due to the weather changing but also my hairdresser told me a lack of drinking water can cause it too. A great shampoo I found on Amazon called Maple Holistics Sage Shampoo. I've added the link below: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CNTJHQO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I've found this to really help maintain a clean scalp with less irritation, flaking and itching. I would also recommend as a home remedy using Olive Oil and Tea Tree Oil as a hot oil treatment for like 20 minutes.

I swear by Shea moisture's Dandruff control pre poo rinse!
https://www.amazon.com/SheaMoisture-African-Dandruff-Control-Pre-Poo/dp/B00ZEF61D6
This stuff has been amazing for me. I used to get visible dandruff and have to wash my hair way to often which was drying and I think made it worse. I use this and rub into my scalp and let it sit at the start of washing and the dandruff takes waaaay longer to come back.

Edit: I actually went no-poo and just use the pre-poo rinse and condition. Honestly the pre-poo rinse has taken care of my dandruff and I found most shampoos to be to drying despite trying plenty of all natural ones. My hair is doing well like this

I have the same hair as you...exactly, except my frizzness is in the front. Here's what I do:

  1. I don't use a comb. I use this paddle brush. https://www.sallybeauty.com/hair/brushes-and-combs/lightweight-cushion-less-vented-paddle-brush/SBS-680993.html?list=Search_Results#q=Paddle&start=1

It won't hear your hair out while you detangle, which is nice.

  2. I use biolage hydrasource conditioner, and my shampoo had sulfates to get rid of the build up. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JVU5F0A/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1539374967&sr=8-3&keywords=biolage+hydrasource+conditioner&dpPl=1&dpID=41lkVKvHkUL&ref=plSrch

I wash them condition my hair. The water is hot to start out. I like lava showers, so this is fine for me. It allows the cuticle to open up. I detangle with the conditioner and puton my shower cap. I go through my washing routine with my shower cap on and will also let the hot water heater is up the cap. (Time 15 minutes)

  3. I turn the water to cold, then I rinse the conditioner out of my hair the cold water closes the cuticle.

  4. I then moisturize my hair with a little cream (like cantu/)

  5. I put eco gel in my hair while it's still wet. It activated my curls. My hair is crunchy, but not frizzy anymore.

About the edges. I just embraced frizzy edges. The upside is that I have edges that look amazing when I do slay them. If you really want to lay them down. You can't get wrap mouse and use that with the gel. Then, use a scarf or the paper wraps, and put that over. You can blow dry a little to dry faster. Then they will stay straight and layed.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Retention Shampoo is amazing. My hair almost feels conditioned after using it, yet very clean.

Curl’s Blueberry Bliss Deep Reparative Mask

Not Your Mother’s Matcha Green Tea and Wild Apple Blossom masque

I’d also recommend a heat cap if you don’t already have one. This is the one I have.

I have been using this mask for a little over a month and I have to say I love it. I don't think it's 100% CG approved, but it works for me. I have higher porosity hair as well. Here's a link to Amazon

Have you considered using something like a shower visor. I used something like that when I was a kid and it worked well.

Behold: Nairobi Wrap Shine Mousse

Go with a slightly humectant leave-in, then comb this through and twist. You can take the twists down when they're mostly dry and get some definition on your natural curls, or wait (or heat dry) and then it will take the twist/knot/braid- pattern. You can also use it on dry hair too to reshape curls.

And I know you didn't ask, but I just found this leave-in last week and feel like it might've changed my life?

I have a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis, which means I have itchy painful scales on my scalp. It’s like dandruff on steroids.

I am sitting here browsing reddit with damp hair, because I just finished my wash routine. :)

I use this first, really working it into my scalp. In fact, I use this battery operated shampoo scrubber to make sure I get all the scales off my scalp. That takes care of my scalp.

Then I use this shampoo, and this conditioner which moisturize my hair.

Using the scalp shampoo first really helps keep the itching and the flakes under control, but I need the other for my hair.

I don’t know if this would work for you, but I guess my point is, don’t be afraid to mix things up!

The ACV bar from Wildlands. My derm said basically the same thing. Working for me.
