I have a Logitech KT810 keyboard that I LOVE. It's almost full sized, has great feeling keeps, I can pair it with up to 3 devices at once, has backlit keys.

Of course the downside to that is it's not as portable and it doesn't have it's own stand.

I also have a Motorola BT keyboard that has a cover that folds into a stand. It's smaller, but still pretty comfortable to use. And always having that stand ready is nice. I got mine at a BB clearance sale for $20, so of course I love the heck out of it. Not sure what I think of the Amazon price though, seems a tad expensive.

The Microsoft Wedge keyboard might be a better choice since it's only $50. I've played with one at a MS Store and it seems pretty nice. Kinda small though, but that's a pro and con.

And of course there are pretty cheap $20 BT keyboards around that maybe you could buy and use until the Nexus 9 BT Keyboard/case comes out. Which might be what I'd do if I didn't have so many BT keyboards already.

I have a similar setup also for school. I use a Bluetooth Logitech Tablet Keyboard and I have an OTG cable that I use occasionally for USB storage and sometimes a spare Logitech wireless (unified) desktop mouse I have lying around. (Also, if you're looking for a case recommendation, I'm using the MoKo cover that a few other people on this sub recomended, and it's been pretty nice--especially for the price)

I find this setup to work pretty well, but the mouse is usually overkill. Another thing to point out with my mouse is that if you don't use it after a very brief period of time, it disconnects into a power saving mode and takes a while to reconnect. A few other notes from my experience with mice on Android is that left, middle and right clicks all act as touch inputs; hover events work in specific applications like Chrome; scrolling works like you'd expect it to; and the back button acts like the system back button (but the forward button is useless, even in Chrome).

I can definitely recommend the keyboard, though. The one I linked to already is a full-sized keyboard with decent keys and shortcuts that work like they say. Alt + Tab also works like on Windows--and it's amazing to say the least. Typing on it still feels a bit weird, and possibly my biggest gripe about it is that if you're holding Shift, the backspace button doesn't do anything.

I'm not really sure how it works to have multiple Bluetooth connections since I haven't really tried it before, but I think that the Nexus 9 supports multiple connections, even to older Bluetooth revisions. My only experience with this, however, is the fact that I once had my tablet connected to my laptop and the keyboard over Bluetooth.

Apologies if I'm interpreting your question incorrectly, but if a free book is what you're looking for I would highly recommend installing the kindle android app and downloading this book - http://www.amazon.com/Way-Kings-STORMLIGHT-ARCHIVE-ebook/dp/B003P2WO5E/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=&qid=

One of my favorites ever, and it's completely free right now.

I purchased the Moko Ultra Slim case off Amazon as soon as it became available on November 22nd for just $6.95. It's now $10.98. It's nothing fancy, but still an excellent case for the price and still has the sleep/wake feature.

This is now like the 4th case I have purchased off Amazon for tablets as soon as it was available for less than $10, only for the prices to go up just a bit a few days or couple weeks later. The other two cases I purchased were also MoKo cases for 2 Galaxy Tab S 10.5's and a 2013 Nexus 7.

MoKo Ultra Slim Lightweight Smart-Shell case

I also usually purchase their multi-angle stand cases anytime I buy a tablet because they are such nice quality and design for the price.

I really like this "MoKo Google Nexus 9 Case - Slim-Fit Multi-angle Folio Cover Case for Google Nexus 9" I had a similar one for my Nexus 7 and loved it. Looks like it is out of stock till December though.

It's not a folio, but I have the microsoft bluetooth foldable keyboard and it's awesome. Very thin and small form factor, easy to carry around with your tablet.

I've got this :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4RWLDY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which is pretty good. nice oleophobic coating, feels almost as good as the naked screen, and the cutouts are pretty well placed. it doesn't fit quite as well (the overall size isn't quite as accurate) as ones i've used on my N5, but i'm rather happy with it, especially for the price, and considering its a much larger piece of glass

edit: sorry didn't realize how long that took me to answer :/

On the subject of smart covers, I have a Roocase Origami that's awesome. It looks like they're clearing stock though, so grab one if you want one soon.

u/MakisupaVT · 3 pointsr/Nexus9

This is a tough question to answer, because I have found that a case is such a personal choice that everyone has their preference of what works best for them.

When I got my first tablet, which was a Motorola Xoom, I grabbed the official portfolio case that was on the shelf next to it. It served it's purpose very well and I used it up until I got rid of the Xoom. Thing is, with the Xoom's weight, the addition of the portfolio case didn't seem like a big deal because it was already relatively heavy.

When I got my first Nexus 7, the size and weight of the case was more important. I went through a number of cases, like shells with flip covers, portfolios, etc. What I ended up landing on was Moko SlimFit Folio. Best part of this case was a hand strap to help holding the device when the case was open and folded back. I ended up using this case on both my 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7s.

Here's a link to the yet-to-be-released Nexus 9 version: http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Google-Nexus-Case-Multi-angle/dp/B00J2QTR20/

I'll probably eventually order one of these for the Nexus 9 not far down the road.

Personally, the official keyboard case for the Nexus 9 isn't something I'm interested in at the moment, but I did pre-order the magic cover to see if it's something that will work for me.

u/Rovazet · 1 pointr/Nexus9

I second this.

Some guy here on this sub said he bought this one but I'm wondering if 10" isn't too big for the Nexus 9...

EDIT: I just bought this one based on the nice reviews I have been reading. It looks very nice too.

u/MetalPirate · 2 pointsr/Nexus9

If you do want a good Origami case once you get it repaired I suggest Roocase, I have one and it's nice (though it is like $30)

Kingston Digital 64GB Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3.0 Micro USB OTG (DTDUO3/64GB)

http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-64GB-Traveler-DTDUO3/dp/B00LIXJ54K/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1419521796&sr=8-12&keywords=Micro+USB+flash+drive

However, if what you want is expandable storage, then you might want to take a look a Wifi enabled hard drives

Seagate Wireless Plus 1TB Portable Hard Drive with Built-in WiFi (STCK1000100)

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Wireless-Portable-Built--STCK1000100/dp/B00AQRUW4Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419521928&sr=8-1&keywords=Seagate+wireless+plus

A lot more storage, has its own battery rated to last for ~10 hrs (doesn't consume the N9's battery), and you don't have to worry about future devices having OTG support or not when trying to use it. (it works with anything that is wifi capable).

Edit: here's just the enclosure if you happen to have an HDD lying around already.

EDIT 2: After an afternoon of researching different options, I have decided on buying at some point in the near future this to solve any storage needs I may have with present or future nexus devices (it accepts any USB flash drive or SD card reader, and can be easily accessed as a NAS on ES File Explorer):

HooToo® TripMate 6000mAh Battery Charger with Wireless N Portable Travel Router (USB Storage Wi-Fi Media Sharing, Access Point, Wi-Fi Mini Router & Bridge)

Agreed. I picked up this one for the time being [Moko slim folding cover] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J2QWC3Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Actually pretty nice.

u/therm0dynam1x · 1 pointr/Nexus9

Purchased a ridgecase from devicewear. Haven't received it for my nexus 9 (they just released it), but my nexus 7 (2013) uses the same case and it's awesome.

MoKo TGSP $8.99. It's in stock and I have used it for the past 9 months and it's still perfectly fine.

u/spinel_sky · 1 pointr/Nexus9

If you're looking for a keyboard and you don't want to pay for the folio cover, this is a cheaper option. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Bluetooth-Multi-Device-Smartphones-920-006342/dp/B00MUTWLW4/ref=sr_1_58?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1420863184&sr=1-58

I like that it has the slot to prop up the tablet, and you can use it with 2 other Bluetooth devices. I have a Nexus6, and it's cool to use this keyboard with the phone as well as with my tablet.

u/Le_Groundhog · 2 pointsr/Nexus9

Overall, I like it so far. The cover has magnets on it so it isn't loose. It has the Auto Sleep/Wake Function when opening/closing the case and it feels good to hold it in the hands.

I ordered this http://amzn.com/B00G2MZCU8 should arrive later this week. Looks like a decent stop gap until the real cases come out. It uses plastic clips and it think a bit of elastic at the corners of the tablet to hold it in place. Says 8.9 to 10.1 inches and also iPad support so I'm thinking the 4:3 aspect ratio of the Nexus might fit this tablet. I'll let you know if it works when I get it.

I ordered the N9 white (32gb) last week from Amazon for $460. As soon as I got it in, I saw from the serial number that it was made 10/14, during the time they were transitioning to the updated, problems reduced model. As soon as I got it, I sent it back unopened for a refund.

Then I spent $480 to buy the new "sand" model directly from google play. Everything I read said that the sand model is the newest iteration and has fixed the recessed buttons, and much of the light bleed. I can confirm that the one I received Friday has very little (unnoticeable except in pitch black) light bleed, and the buttons are recessed, but accessible. I highly recommend it.

I know that doesn't help you with coupons, but if you're ordering in the near future, I'd suggest going directly through google to make sure you get the most current model.

Just wanted to update: Amazon brought its $50 cut back. I'm purchasing mine now while I can. I'm also a PhD student looking to do the same things with mine (reading and note taking)... let me know if you end up finding an annotation application/method that works best for you.

Im looking all over for a matte black TPU case with no decoration. I did pick up the Amazon basics 10" tablet sleeve it's super solid for transport. Always kept my tablets in neoprene sleeves for transport never had an issue.

u/skujaster · 2 pointsr/Nexus9

It actually just dropped back down, but only for the 32GB versions. For some reason the 16GB black just went up but I swore all the 16's were also down earlier this morning. If you wanted to pull the trigger, now's the time it seems like.

u/zoxxo · 2 pointsr/Nexus9

I'd like to get a Portenzo, but it's too expensive for me at this time. I'm currently looking at the Amazon Basics neoprene sleeve. It fits my basic needs right now and it's very inexpensive...

u/hzml6226 · 6 pointsr/Nexus9

I bought a 10" sleeve from amazon primarily for storage and transport... Amazon Basics 10" tablet sleeve.

It fits well enough, and I figure when I get one of the origami covers or something similar I'll still use the sleeve when I throw it in a bag.

u/cosmo_polite · 1 pointr/Nexus9

I was planning to get MoKo multi-angle if I end up buying N9. That case was awesome for N7, but it is probably a bit bulkier than magic cover.

u/c435087 · 4 pointsr/Nexus9

I got a MoKo Ultra Slim case (black). It works very well and the screen turns off when you close the case and turns on when you open it :).

I ended up ordering this case:

And ordered this as a stop gap until the case ships on 12/9:
