Dude. Where are you located? I'm in Cape Girardeau, this is something I would LOVE to know more about.
Edit: I just got a chance to read back through the post and a fair bit of the comments. Maybe I can give a little insight as to how I would see it as a 20-something from Cape. Entry fee: I personally wouldn't mind paying an entry fee, I saw further down you threw out $5, and I think that's completely reasonable. If it becomes a weekend-long thing, maybe offering a camping spot for the whole weekend for a set price. You could do wristbands for one-day admission or an all-weekend pass with different colors.
Prizes: Depends on how many people show up and by extension how much money there is to cover prizes. I would say that a Switch would be an awesome grand prize, but also Switch accessories (or just useful tech that can be used with the Switch) would offer a pretty big selection and be really well received.
Stuff like:
Age ranges: It depends on whether you're talking about admissions or entry into the tournament. For both, it would suck to be excluded - if I was a kid that wanted to play Mario Kart with the grown ups, I would hate to be told no. That said, it does leave the adults entering (like myself) in an awkward situation (no one likes being the hardcore one that beats all the kids at games). But for a first-time event like this, I don't think that's something that should be a big priority. I think the best thing would be to get as many people playing and in on the fun as possible. As far as admission to the event in general, I think it's important to allow kids in as well. At the end of the day the goal of something like this is to have fun. However, if groups are camping, there might have to be some guidelines set when it comes to kids under a certain age, just to make sure things don't get too crazy.
Time to get to matches: I think 5-10 minutes is reasonable, depending on the size of the drive-in. (I've never been there, so I don't know how big it is there) If there's a loudspeaker, you could take numbers and announce the numbers of the participants for the next match. If after 10 minutes they don't show up, they forfeit their place. If there's no loudspeaker, you could try and keep people updated via something like Twitter or even text messages, and just have people write down their Twitter handle or phone number to be alerted.
Other thoughts: I saw that you mentioned coolers down below - personally, I'd prefer to bring my own, since I like to drink craft beer. I'm also more than happy to pay a bit extra to bring my own cooler/drinks, and even if I did that, I'd probably still end up using the concessions anyway for snacks and stuff. I don't personally have a camper, but I'm sure some people would prefer to bring one, especially if they're bringing a family. If there aren't areas for campers at the theater, is there a nearby park or campsite that they could use?
I'm really excited to see that there's something like this happening relatively close to home for me. Even though Cape and SEMO have a fair bit of events, there hasn't really been anything like this that has caught my eye.
One thing that also immediately popped into my head when I thought of a drive-in theater was viewing parties for esports. A good friend of mine is the president of the League of Legends club at SEMO, and if you ever decide to rent out the theater for events, I bet their club would love to watch the League of Legends Finals or something at the drive-in! But that's just wishful thinking, let's focus on Mario Kart for now!
I looked online and saw prices ranging from $300-500. Is there any difference between these consoles other than the skin?
The $300 base model of the Nintendo Switch (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01LTHP2ZK/) does not include any games, but is still what you should most likely buy. More expensive models may have games bundled or free in-game currency (e.g. Fortnite), but they shouldn't be more than $350 (plus tax). At $360, you're not really saving any money, and anything more expensive than THAT is from a third party trying to make a quick buck. The console itself currently has few variations; most of your customization will depend on what color controllers you get with the console.
What type of accessories am I going to need?
This depends on your use case. I'd recommend getting a screen protector (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/). If you expect to bring the Switch out of the house a lot, also get a case (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MR63I6F/). Anything else, like special controllers (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0748S3GXG/) or a dock cover (https://www.etsy.com/listing/560319070/), is largely unnecessary right now; look into them when you find you need extra joy-cons (https://smile.amazon.comdp/B078GZM4H8/) or a tabletop stand (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9RTMWS/) for your Switch. In the end, you should not be spending more than $400 for the Switch, one game, and core accessories.
As for games, so far I planned on buying Smash Bros, Let's Go Pikachu, and One's Justice. Can you recommend any other games? I was never into Zelda but hear the new game is very good.
How old is your kid? Super Mario Odyssey (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MY7GHKJ/) is fun, and has a great co-op mode if you want to play together. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also always a blast (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N1037CV/). I'm also a huge fan of Splatoon 2 (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9QVIRV/), but it's probably better for older kids because it requires more dexterity. There's lots of games to recommend, but it'll help to know what your kid already likes... or what you want your kid to like ;)
Side note: To play online, you need Nintendo Switch Online (https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/). It's $20 a year for one ACCOUNT, or $35 a year for 8 accounts. Each account also has separate save files, if multiple people will be playing on the same Switch. Smash Ultimate and Mario Kart both have online modes, but Splatoon's primary game modes are online-only.
Whats the difference between mario party and mario space odyssey?
Super Mario Odyssey is an action-platformer for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Party is a virtual board game for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Galaxy is an action-platformer for the Wii, a completely different console.
Let us know if you have follow-up questions!
Definitely a Screen Protector
A Travelling Case would be nice.
I also added Dr Scholls Moleskin to the front of my dock to reduce the risk of scratching the screen protector. (Two small strips on the parts inside the dock that are raised.)
A Memory Card also helps for the digital only games.
What color Switch did you get? I got the grey switch then bought a pair of Red Joycons and another pair of Blue Joycons. So in total I have a grey, red, and blue L Joycon and a grey, red, and blue R Joycon.
If you got the grey switch and then buy the [two color Joycon packs] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753597&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+joycons) then you won't be able to get one of each color for L/R without over paying. This is because the [two color Joycon packs] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753597&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+joycons) are always Red L and Blue R.
If you bought a neon switch, then buy the [two color Joycon pack] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753597&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+joycons) and a pair of Grey Joycons for all combinations.
Also, don't buy Joycons on Amazon, they are stupid expensive right now.
I don't have a pro controller yet, but people seem to love it.
Games:
Zelda = Must Buy
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe = Must Buy
1-2 Switch = Great for parties/friends
Snipperclips = Great for people who don't play games often (girlfriends/parents/kids). Secret here is to not explain how to play/what to do and let them have fun and try to figure out the puzzles on their own. Act like a support character and you'll have a blast watching them.
Binding of Isaac = I love this game, but put countless hours on the PC version. Mature themes
Super Bomberman R = Classic mode with easy CPUs is fun for roommates. I haven't played through the adventure mode yet.
Wonderboy = Cute/Fun side scroller.
Has Been Heroes = I don't have this yet, apparently very difficult.
Other notes:
I started collecting amiibos after getting a switch (Be very careful, it's easy to get addicted and drop a ton of money here).
I got a Joycon charging dock since the only way to charge extra pairs of Joycons without the Joycon charging dockis to rotate them in and out of the switch while it charges/docked.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
PS I love the Switch so much. It's definitely my favorite console ever.
I own what I think are the three most common (in the USA anyway):
With any of these, I highly recommend getting the cases. Once you put these grips on, the Switch doesn't fit into any standard Switch case. I failed to follow this wisdom with the first grip I purchased (the RDS GoPlay), but fortunately it fits into the Satisfye Slim case (probably the big one, too). I don't think the inverse would be true, as the GoPlay fits with room to spare. I'm assuming the actual GoPlay case would be too small for the Satisfye.
All three of these are comfortable and provide a substantial improvement over the Switch with nothing. All three of these cases have issues with docking. The Satisfye and RDS grips will not ever fit into the dock...they're just not designed for it. The Skull & Co was designed to fit into the dock, but they only just barely managed it. The fit is tight, and they also did not realize that Nintendo's docks are not all created equal, and some have a smaller gap, into which the Gripcase won't fit into. It's really a crapshoot whether your Gripcase will dock with your particular dock.
The Gripcase is the trickiest to remove of the three. If you do it wrong, you'll put noticeable "shearing" forces on your joycons, because you'll be leveraging them against their rails as you try to peel the case off. Make sure to watch Skull & Co's usage video on how to remove it.
The Satisfye only requires a careful sliding of the Switch, against some rubbery friction. The RDS case simply pops off after you flex the plastic clamps a bit. Ironically, the RDS is both the easiest to remove, yet also allows you to detach the joycons without removing the Switch from the grip--not an issue for a plane ride.
The Grip Case is the narrowest and most compact. For analog-stick intensive games, it provides a good grip, but doesn't give you "adult" thumb spacing. Your thumb knuckle may still need to bend quite a bit with your right hand. The Satisfye, OTOH, is explicitly asymmetrical to deal with this, and gives you a very good thumb placement onto the analog stick...at the expense of making the buttons a little harder to reach without adjusting your grip. The RDS is symmetrical, but "flares out" almost as widely as the Satisfye, so you can simply adjust your grip as appropriate.
To be honest, I use all three at different times. Specifically for a plane ride, I'd use the Satisfye. However, if I could keep/own only one to be used for all my grippy situations, I'd keep the RDS, simply because I find it to offer the best combo of comfort, versatility, and ease of use. The Satisfye is slightly more comfortable, but it needs to be removed more often (and removal itself is less convenient). The Skull & Co is the smallest/narrowest, but also least comfortable of the three (though still very comfortable compared to no grip), potentially somewhat versatile if it fits in your dock (but that's random chance), and trickiest--arguably scariest--to remove. OTOH, it also offers side & back protection for the Switch, since it's more like a silicone smartphone case. So if you are trying to increase the Switch's ruggedness, this is probably the best option of the three. Also of note: the Skull & Co grip case doesn't reliably fit into every Nintendo dock, but it certainly works with Skull & Co's own dock, which is a nice product if you're willing to take the buyer-beware risk of using third party docks. The Grip Case also offers multiple palm rest options, but none of them flare further out to the sides, I don't think even the newer, chunkier palm rest they've started selling would help with the right-thumb-to-analog stick spacing.
> That's when you know Nintendo is stepping up.
Hi. Not a Nintendo fan but I would argue that the GBA, DS, 3DS (which I had) lines were are mostly fine so I would say its more so that you just didn't want their stuff. Their older consoles weren't bad either from what I have heard. They had slip-ups like the Wii U but they were doing fine in the past. The Switch is more of them being good at what they do.
> Unfortunately when I got old enough for my parents to let me play CoD and Halo,
Whats unfortunate about being exposed to a wider variety of games? Are you now a psychopathic killer that doesn't know right from wrong because if not you might be exaggerating a bit... I am sure you enjoyed those games so lets not pretend that we are above them now or that there is or was ever anything wrong with enjoying them along with everything else.
> (Not to knock halo or CoD, fantastic games in their own right)
This was basically an "I don't mean to be rude but let me just say something rude" to the devs. Nice.
> they were seen as the "holy grail" of games just because they were violent
Welcome to the world of being a Nintendo fan. Congrats on taking your first steps to being unnecessarily snobby towards other systems and devs for no good reason.
For your info Activision and Bungie devs certainly did a fuck ton of work and with how popular their games were back in the day I think I can say that most of the world agreed that their games weren't just popular because they were violent. Some of us played games because we actually liked them. You may have played them because you thought it made you look cool or mature but that wasn't everyone. Step off the high horse. Halo 3 and the early COD MW series were so popular because they were actually good games.
> And then I see YouTube videos of these Nintendo games that people enjoy. Mario kart, Zelda, splatoon, etc. Quality, content filled games that focus on the most important things about video games: THE GAME ITSELF
Probably because you were purposely only looking for those.
Again congrats on another milestone. You are now pretending that you can't also go to a PS4 and find plenty of games that play good, look good, don't put a hole in your wallet, etc. You are circlejerking on a Nintendo sub the right way. Keep it up.
> Every game now a days is trying to nickle and dime me PAST my initial $60 purchase
> focus on the most important things about video games: THE GAME ITSELF. Not DLC
Yup. Even though Nintendo has started announcing Season Passes before their games are even out. Yup. Totally. Not Nintendo.
^Sub ^Hint: ^This ^is ^the ^part ^where ^you ^should ^now ^say ^"Oh ^well ^now ^I ^am ^okay ^with ^it."
> Sure the graphics may not be as good, or the framerate, which is definitely an issue for people sometimes. But damn it I don't think most people notice it when they play the switch because it's just pure FUN.
Don't notice it? Source? Did you see all the different forum posts and reviews about people noticing the framerate dips in Zelda? Do you see reviews and discussions for some of the games with questionable ports? Framerate does actually affect gameplay and more than a few people notice it. You say you play on PC so I am sure you get that. I am not one of those super snobs that goes "I just can't play games below 60fps" but there is a clear difference. Inconsistent framerates do affect my gameplay and fun. My game slowing down during a fight isn't "pure FUN." I am not saying I don't still enjoy the game but I am not in such ecstasy that I don't notice the drops.
> the online infrastructure seems a little sketchy
You can say its more than sketchy. Its outdated and archaic. I need my phone to use voice chat.
> And i kinda wish I got the red and blue joycons and not boring old grey, but I couldn't find any red and blues lol
Check Amazon US. It looks like they have some.
I like my Switch and a lot of Nintendo's catalog but damn guys...
I'm going to copy and paste a comment I made on another post, maybe it will relate to you.
> I just bought a Switch last week and over the week bought BOTW, MM2, and MK8. I was torn between a PS4 and a Switch, but have been so happy with my decision.
>What I wanted to mention though, is how easy it is to get your X1 or PS4 controllers to work on the Switch. I'm not crazy about the joycons, and it was eating me up thinking I had to spend $89.99(cdn) to get a second controller (pro) so my friends and family could play when they are over.
>So i started looking for 3rd party controllers, which lead me to finding 8bitdo, which is a company that makes controllers across all gens of consoles, as well as lots of adapters and other gaming things.
>I bought this adapter for $25 and it will let you use your ps4, xbox, or other controllers on the Switch.
>This was perfect since I alread had two PS4 controllers for my PC. Once the adapter showed up the same day (thanks Amazon) it was as simple as plugging the USB adapter directly into the Switch, and hitting pair on the adapter, then the PS and share button on the controller, and boom, it worked just like that.
>Full rumble, full motion controls, and I get to keep using my favourite controllers on the Switch, with seemingly no compromises. :).
Long story short, if you already have controllers laying around that you like, you can save money by just getting an adapter for them. Once you do the super easy setup, it just works like a Switch controller with no more steps, so it doesn't get confusing. I see someone below recommend 8bitdo's version of the pro controller, and based on my experience with the company, that is probably a good purchase too.
edit: This is the link to the adapter. The quote didn't carry over the link.
One important thing to mention, I believe the adapter only works in docked mode, so there is a compromise. Though if you're playing handheld you likely have the joy cons attached anyway.
First, Third and Fourth- I take it you've really haven't had a Nintendo console for a long time.
Nintendo is trapped in another decade when it comes to online, and it really shows with the Online service and onboard NIC card. When it comes to the price of first party games; welcome to a nintendo console: Anything with a first party Nintendo character will rarely price drop but they're usually worth it with Nintendo being one of the few devs to sit as high as they do on metacritic for as long as they have.
> Yeah I know there are some good games for this thing, but the system experience outside of that is really sub par.
That's the whole point really. The video game console plays really good video games. Pick up Fire Emblem if you enjoy a tactics game/Persona's social system or Mario Odyssey if you enjoyed Sunshine on the gamecube days or Bayonetta 1&2 or Smash. Or start trying indie games, my Switch for a really long time was a glorified Binding of Isaac machine after Breath of the Wild until the library expanded as large as it did
As for your second point it's really your preference, I got large hands and the switch feels fine in portable mode. Used to have a Vita and it was a nightmare. If you hate the Joycon dpad so much then I recommend Hori Dpad Joycon (But to be clear it does not work wireless nor vibrate. Friend of mine loves the dpad on it though) for handheld play and a Pro controller for docked, the pro controller for me is on par for comfort with an Xbox one controller, never beena fan of Dualshocks.
Not really related to this particular suggestion, but if you're going to play with single joy cons with any kind of regularity, I highly recommend the FastSnail single joy con grips. They work/feel great and make single joy con play much more enjoyable.
It may even help keep your friends from pressing the snapshot button accidentally, although I am afraid it will not prevent them from pressing it "accidentally."
Here’s my loadout:
First, I like being able to play in tabletop mode as I like having the joycons removed and separated while I play on the go, I carry the straps (though I removed the strap part so it’s just a way to add extra width to the joycons) and this tablet stand because I do like the normal one.
Next up, I use a portable USB-C charger with a PD port on it. I used to use a third party Switch charger since I’m not using it to dock, but I like having the option to charge my phone as well.
Finally, I use a case to carry everything in. The normal slim ones definitely aren’t enough, so I use one like this that fits everything so I can have everything on the go in a compact space.
TLDR: I keep a tablet stand, joycon straps, and a portable charger in a large case for when I’m on the go with my Switch. None of these are must haves, but I enjoy them all.
P.S.
One ESSENTIAL accessory is a screen protector. I got a small scratch on my bezel from my dock and it still bugs me I didn’t get a screen protector immediately. It baffles me that there’d be a design flaw like that, but it happens.
Finally, a lot of people like the Satisfye grips. While I’ve never found them necessary, a lot of people have. It would also be worth getting the bundle with the carrying case since it wouldn’t fit in a normal one.
Hope this helps or gives you some ideas of what you might want.
That's definitely fair xD my younger cousins who come over for holidays are teenagers now, but back like 5 years ago I probably wouldn't have trusted them either.
I'm fond of this case: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel-Breath/dp/B01N5T26EP/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1511991163&sr=8-5&keywords=rds+switch+case
It comes in several colors/styles, but as someone who buys a fair amount of physical games, I love the 2 game card cases that fit into the bottom. The mesh zipper pouch that sits over the screen of the console when inside isn't good for much (might fit like a USB cable, or the individual joycon grips in it), but otherwise it houses the console and up to 8 extra games comfortably which takes care of my portable needs. I'll just toss a charging cable and pro controller if needed into the same pouch of my bag and call it a day when leaving to hang out with people.
i got both too, and my switch pro controller just collects dust. honestly never thought i would prefer a third party controller to a first party one but here we are. so much stuff i play on switch warrants a good d-pad and that $70 pro controller just ain't got it.
another suggestion is that if you have and prefer something like a ps4 controller, you can use that with your switch. these adapters will let you use pretty much any controller with the switch. i used the Mayflash one and it works like a charm. until i got the 8bitdo using a ps4 controller to play Mario Maker 2 was the next best thing.

Hey guys!! This is awesome to hear my buddy is not the only person who would love to have something like this!!!
I'm somewhat new to the 3d printing and designing, but if your guys have this Hori case:
https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Game-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01NASY99Z
The design I made fits one of the 2 pieces of plastic that holds up to 12 game cards.
It's nice, when you don't want to risk loosing all your games when you want to take half of them on a quick road trip.
Also I was going to publish this design to my thingiverse so anyone with a 3d printer can print this out whenever :).
If anyone does want one, I would love to start producing these for people. It would be a dream to turn my designs and prints into a business at some point in time. Otherwise I'm just happy to hear that others like how it looks and would like one as well.
I am a paraplegic and get the exact same pain with handhelds. Grips have been a lifesaver! I tried skull & co.'s kickstarter grip and a cheap rubber one off Amazon before sticking with Satisfye's Switch grip. I have big hands and it was the only one large enough to comfortably play with. Edit: They JUST launched all new products but I have their OG Switch grip.
I have other branded grips for my N3DS XL and Vita, but forget what they are (I think they're Japanese brands I found on Amazon), and they're comfortable and work great.
I suggest buying a handful off Amazon to try out and then keep the one that works. They're all made slightly differently so you wont really know until you have them in your "grip" :-) .
Good luck!
Edit: I found the exact grips in my Amazon purchase history (all from Amazon and I live in the states).

Some things to consider.
The costs: A second set of joy-cons runs 70 bucks or so, additionally you're correct a Joy-Con Grip should be purchased to seat the controllers - probably another 10 dollars or so. There are joy con grips with a port for a charging cable, that will charge the joy cons those are 25 bucks. I have one, but I never use the charger, rather I swap the extra joy-cons onto the switch while it's charging.
A pro controller runs around $60.
Ultimately, 80 bucks for joy-cons vs. 60 for the pro-controller.
The quality of the controller:
The pro controller is nicer, no question. But it can't split into two allowing two people to use it.
What your kids will want/what will save you headaches:
My vote is to get another set of joy cons to ensure they're both playing with the same type of controller and not fighting over it. They're likely at an age where they won't feel the need for the "best" controller so much as they'd want the ability to play with more friends.
Hi guys,
I really need your help. I was thinking of gifting someone a nintendo switch after a few months but I know little to nothing about video games or consoles. I didn't grow up playing video games and have never owned a console. I was hoping you guys could help answer some of my questions and help me.
Thanks in advance.
I bought these and couldnt be happier.
FastSnail Grips compatible with Nintendo Switch Joy Cons, Wear-resistant Handle, 2 Pack (Red and Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y6BX6HT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xRUxCbNGXH9QV
They are mini controllers with R and L trigger to play with your joy cons while side ways. In my opinion they are a must have. Super comfortable, good build quality, the plastic is really smooth and very satisfying to touch, and it really makes the difference while playing. Specially mario kart. They also bring with them joystick covers for your joy cons which feel really great.
Also the controllers have some rubber on the inside so your joy con stays in place. There's no risk of it falling off or anything.
Some recommended Switch accessories:
I would recommend getting a charging dock for the Joy Con if you'll have more than the base 2 pairs. The only way to charge the Joy Con is to have it connected to the system and in the dock (or the expensive charging grip). With a charging dock like (https://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-switch/accessories/nintendo-switch-joy-con-charging-dock/141872) here, for example, you can pop up to 4 joy con in there easily and charge them at any time.
Also, if they won't be playing the Switch docked and you want extra protection, there is a heavy duty rubberized hard case cover to protect it from drops. https://www.amazon.com/Mumba-Nintendo-Switch-Heavy-Rubberized-release/dp/B071ZRM6C1 <- like the one shown here.
Another thing to mention is that if you're looking for traditional controllers, you could buy 3rd party ones now for much cheaper than the pro controller (although the Pro controller is king). First option could be a cable for $16 that allows you to use your other console controllers with the Switch. https://www.amazon.com/FastSnail-Controller-Converter-Controllers-Compatible/dp/B073ZFPJLQ
The other options are about $30 and luckily come in many styles, but the only caveat is that they are wired, like the one I'll mention next.
https://www.amazon.com/Wired-Controller-Plus-Super-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B075DNGDWM
Aside from that info, only other thing I'd say is that the physical game cartridges are small, about same size as a 3DS cartridge, so you'll have to plan that out accordingly. ;)
Good luck, Santa!
Here are some of the chargers that are known to perform "GOOD" or "BEST" with the Switch.
---------
Best

Cables
I won't list prices here since they fluctuate a lot. Some of the chargers listed above have a non-removable cable. All the others (except the iPad charger) require a USB C-to-C cable.
USB C-to-C: For the Macbook, Google, SONEic, and battery pack chargers listed above. Here are a few on Amazon: AmazonBasics,
Anker, Cable Matters, Aukey.
USB A-to-C: The iPad charger is the only one that gives good charging speeds with these. The 5ft cable included with the Pro Controller works. Here are some others on Amazon: AmazonBasics, Anker, Cable Matters, Aukey.
No matter which charger you use, it doesn't matter whether the cable says it's USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or USB 3.1. They all charge at the same speed. Just make sure it has the correct plug shape on each end, that it has good reviews at a reputable merchant, and that it's long enough for how you want to use it.
I’ve never heard of that controller but 8BitDo is good for a controller with a good d-pad. I would recommend waiting for the SN30 Pro+ to come out because it’ll be much more comfortable than the current SN30 Pro
I have the wired SN30 Pro and it’s d-pad is fantastic. It’s a nice cheaper option
You can also use 8BitDo’s adapter or the MayFlash adapter to use a DS4 controller on the Switch if you already have one
I've been going overboard with accessories. Here's what I picked up so far:
Glass screen protector - Just in case.
128GB microSD card - I rarely buy physical games
Pro Controller - I love it. So comfortable.
PowerA Hybrid Case - I basically use this as a stand for my Switch when I'm on the go.
JDeal portable dock - It works. Make sure to follow the instructions. Works with my Nexus5x 5v 3A portable charger.
[Retractable HDMI cable] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019J96PSI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Hestia case - The Switch with the PowerA Hybrid Case, portable dock, portable USB-C charger, and retractable HDMI cable all fit in this.
USB 3.0 LAN Adapter - Faster speeds when on the official dock.
Gooseneck tablet holder - Ultimate comfort. Play while in bed.
Magic NS Wireless Adapter - I had originally bought this so I could use my PS4 controller. This was before I picked up the Pro Controller. It works. There was a recent firmware update that gives gyro support for PS4 controllers and it works well with Splatoon 2.
On the way:
Mumba case - For better comfort/protection while playing in handheld mode.
Get grips or wheels.
Grips are more useful for other games if you think people might be turned off by the wheel shape, but the wheels seem like they fit pretty substantially in the hand. Either choice is great.
I have two Hori Game Cases that store 24 games, or so. I had all my games in one of them, then I started buying games enough to fill the second one. By the time I filled the second one, I said screw it, and started putting all my games back in their original game cases. It's too much money invested to have them all in these storage cases that are easily stealable. I don't travel heavy with my Switch, but if I do, I just put a few games in one of my Hori Game Cases for the trip itself and I'm good to go. But travelling with / storing ALL my physical games? Not my thing anymore. I have a lot of RPGs I'd like to keep in good condition, not get stolen, as well. :)
Here's what I used: https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Game-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01NASY99Z/
I’ve got the Sheikah Eye traveler case in blue. It holds the Switch plus joy cons (has indentations for the back of the joy cons to rest in too), 8 game carts (or 6 plus 2 micro SD cards), and the top has enough room for my earbuds and probably a small battery and charging cable too. It’s really cute and sturdy, and I’m pretty happy with it.
I want to HIGHLY recommend the Hybrid case (Normal or Splatoon 2 version).
Its SO fantastic and pretty cheap. Only con is that you have to take the Switch out of the case to put it in the dock. BUT that sounds harder than it is, I swear it takes maybe 2 real seconds.
Its fantastic case that protects the Switch and allows you to set it up in 3 different angles. PLUS, it looks really good.

I got this 64gb card for $16 on Amazon. Seems like the sweet spot for me. If you happen to need more in a year or two, larger sizes will be available, and prices will come down. Why pay more for space now that you aren't going to use? In my personal situation, I am going to want physical copies of games whenever I can, so I may not ever get to fill this thing up when I'm just using it for the occasional Snipperclips or other digital exclusive games. For $16, it is cheap and good peace of mind.
Also, it's nice that the system will still use its 32gb storage for your profiles, game saves, etc. It'll then use your 64 microSD for games and other things you can re-download easily from the eShop. They will work together, it's not a complete replacement. So in a way, it's sorta like having more than just 64gb.

I'm looking to buy a Switch through Amazon. I notice the cheapest options (all the options under $300) are from "Just Launched" sellers and mostly are shipping straight from China.
The price of a Switch is a bit high for me, so I want the cheapest option, but am I right to be wary of the cheapest Amazon offers (Found here)?
Any advice on how to get a Switch for the cheapest price? I see it is $300 on Best Buy - is that my best option?
Ill build two routes handheld gaming and docked.
Docked
Switch - $300
Pro Controller -$65
Legend of Zelda BOTW - 44.99
Mario Kart 8 -$55
Total - $ 464.00
Handheld
Switch - $300
Legend of Zelda BOTW - 44.99
Nintendo Official Wall Charger - $28 (I choose this because I am very picky about power options with consoles and I know this will function)
Switch Case - $15 (This can be hit or miss a lot of people love butterfox but my two smelled like shit and opted for a better version, but for the price it is unbeatable, worth the risk of the smell)
Mario Kart 8 -$55
Total - $443
Games can be changed in and out but imo BOTW is the best game on the switch and Mario Kart 8 is loads of fun. I personally do not have a pro controller, mainly because I play strictly handheld but from what I have been told it is a must for docked gameplay.
Edit: In the future you are going to need a SD card. Especially if you are going the Digital route, again personally I prefer physical and the at of collecting the games but that is me.
As far as Amazon goes, best advice is to be on the ball. You can go HERE to click the [Email Me] button, ensuring that you're updated when preorders go live. A solid guess is that it will go live after the Jan 12th presentation, but you better have it now to be sure.
As for in-store, I'm calling Gamestop one of these days to see if they already take pre-orders. People have reported that SOME stores are taking pre-orders now, and others will obviously wait for the Jan 12th presentation. So if you want a midnight release or in-store release, make sure to call some places now just to be sure.
Zelda is a no brainer. If he's never played Binding of Isaac go with that one. Honestly, I would stop there. Zelda will keep him busy for a long time.
I would strongly recommend an official Nintendo carrying case. He's going to want to travel with it at some point. Have a doctors appointment, got to go get your car inspected, or anything else where you have to sit and wait? The Switch is perfect and the carrying case is big for it. The small one that carries just the Switch will do. You don't need the $30 one that carries even the dock. He'll like this one or this one.
The next question is physical vs digital. Does your boyfriend like to collect physical copies of games or just download them? Check for one of his existing systems. Does he have a huge library of physical games or does he just have the console? If he is a digital guy you may want to consider an SD card of 128 GB or 256 GB.
The Pro controller is great, but it costs about $70. If it is in your budget get it. It is great.
I've heard that you can charge the Switch out of the dock via a USB-C adapter plug thing. Do I need to use the official Nintendo Switch AC Adapter, or am I safe using just my phone (HTC 10) wall adapter and any USB-C cable?
Planning to finally join you guys officially next week thanks to Target's 20% coupon and this sub and /r/NintendoSwitchDeals have been amazing for making sure I know and save as much money as possible as I hop on board.
I planned to be digital-only, but came across a couple good deals on games that I don't necessarily need/want constant immediate access to ($15 for Lego City Undercover? Why not?). Plus my 200GB SD card is filling up quick. So I've ended up in a kind of "digital-mostly" middle ground. So I'm glad I got a case that holds carts as well. I got this one and it's fantastic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0711K97BS
I guess you could keep multiple SD cards and swap them out for rarely played digital games though.
And every review says "Great for little hands" or "small", haha. Though I appreciate the link.
I guess I didn't realize you could play with motion controls with the pro controller, so I guess that could be an option. Can you play motion controls with the comfort grip, ala: https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Joy-Comfort-Grips-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MS7YUA7/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1549558299&sr=8-2&keywords=switch+joy+con+comfort+grip ?
I guess it's not much different than the Pro Controller.
Split controls are great in my opinion! Hand cramps are a concern for some, but honestly it hasn't been a huge deal! If you're concerned about the size, or find you want something a bit more substantial, try getting a set of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y6BX6HT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Or equivalent from other manufacturers. They add some nice size and haven't had any complaints. Plus, they are inexpensive compared to a pro controller!
Satisfye - Accessories Compatible with Nintendo Switch - Comfortable & Ergonomic Switch Grip, Joy Con & Switch Control - #1 Switch Accessories Designed for Gamers. FREE BONUS: 4 Thumbsticks https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FNJJG5V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HQZ3CbRNFBP09
Would definitely recommend a pro controller, so much more comfortable than joy-con. I got joy-con comfort silicone grip things that go on the joy-con, but even then my hands absolutely kill me from playing Switch. If you just want to play as soon as you can, I guess get silicone comfort grips for your joy-con, and a comfort grip controller. Also definitely get a glass screen protector, and this case.. For games, I'd recommend BotW, Splatoon 2, and Odyssey (I assume by the time you have enough saved up odyssey will be out, it comes out in a month)
I really like the joycons. The button clicks feel nices and using the pair feels good. I will say I prefer the pro controller overall, but I use the single joycons when I plan on playing with a few people.
For the comfort issue, you could always buy a grip like these https://www.amazon.com/FastSnail-Nintendo-Joy-Con-Wear-resistant-Joy-con/dp/B06Y6BX6HT
I've been using the fast snail grips for when I go out and plan on using the switch in table top mode. It definitely is more ergonomic and gives the controller a little bit of bulk
If you want to be able to play over the next couple of weeks but not spend the full amount for a new Joycon, you might want to check out the HORI D-Pad Joycon. It's pretty cheap because it doesn't have most of the internals that are in a full Joycon, but it still works and feels fine.
The main limitation is that it only works in handheld mode (attached to the Switch) because it doesn't have a battery or bluetooth. But if you're okay with that, it's a great little controller -- I bought one for playing platformers with the D-pad, and ended up just leaving it on my Switch.
I wanted to add something I highly recommend. It may be too much for you right now, but it's something to keep in mind if you and your husband have trouble using a single joycon sideways. It's a grip that you can put the sideways joycon into to make it feel like a real controller. I got a set after having difficulties with Mario Kart (and I have medium-sized female hands). Here's the ones I bought, I think there are other brands available though: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y6BX6HT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They really feel so much better and I don't get hand cramps from playing anymore. Mario Kart is noticeably easier to control as well. Even if you don't get them now because of tight funds, you can keep it in mind for the future if you'd like to play more 4-player games but get hand cramps from gripping the tiny controller.
Thanks for pointing that out! I ended up going with a 400GB, but it looks like the seller is "Unikoss". Hopefully its legit, they seem to have positive reviews on Amazon at least
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=twister_B07B3MFBHY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
>Should I get one of the pro controllers?
If you're going to be playing docked frequently, absolutely. It's a very nice controller and more comfortable than the Joycons.
>are there versions with more storage or do I just buy an extra memory card or something?
No version with more storage, but you can use a micro SD card in it.
A SanDisk Ultra of whatever size and pricepoint you want is my usual recommendation. The Switch's read speed tops out at 95-100MB/s and read speed is irrelevant, so a card with a read speed of 100MB/s is what you're aiming for. If you're buying a super fast Extreme Ultra Mega SD card for the Switch it's not going to do anything other than make your wallet lighter.
I'm using this as reference: http://i.imgur.com/5oXEONa.png

Ok, so powerbanks, in general, deliver voltage/amperage in different ranges, like some deliver 9v/2A, some 9v/2.5A, some go above the 18W recommended, some have PD, some don't... So... Let's say I'm using a powerbank with PD, will it adjust itself for the Switch needs? Does the Switch work with PD or should I get one that deliver specifically 9v/2A, 12v/1.5A or 15v/1,2A?

I know it's been a while but I'm about to order a powerbank for my devices and I'd like one that would work fine with the Switch at it's maximum intake, 18W (did it change?), like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LQ81QR0/ref=emc_b_5_t ?

Or maybe I should go with a PD model, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071WNWRNC/ref=emc_b_5_t ?
Im getting my switch in about a week and a half, so i've started to look for accesories, and I think i need some help :P
Initially ill be getting Mario Kart, so im going to buy the official Joy Con Wheel x2 thing.
I was also going to buy a carrying case, and I saw this one, which looked nice.
The last thing I was going to buy for now was a screen protector, since i've heard they can get scratched easily when placing/removing the console from the dock, so I was thinking of buying this one. I also saw a Hori screen protector, but it has horrible reviews (Mostly complaining about it unsticking at the bottom of the switch because of the heat when being docked).
So, are these good choices or should I buy some other one instead?
Also, ill probably end up buying a controller, however, I find the pro controller to be too expensive, so I was thinking of buying the Hori one which is much more affordable, but is it any good? Are there any other good controllers? And I was looking at Hori stuff, so I stumbled upon the Playstand, and the game case. Are they worth buying?

Sorry if this comment is too big, im very hyped for the Switch, and I dont want to ruin my experience with bad accesories =)

EDIT: I forgot to ask, Is a big SD Card worth it? How much space would you recommend if it is?
Hows the input lag and can you connect multiple controllers at once? Does gyro work with PS4 controllers?
I bought the coov n100 like a month back because I don't mind it being wired its the small black one got it off ebay for 10, think fast snail sells it on amazon now for 17 . Best 10 bucks I've ever spent on an accessory. This
My PS4 controller plays like it was meant for switch gyro rumble and all. But for a few bucks more if this does all that plus allows you to connect as many controllers as you like I'd say this is a no brainer if you want something like it.
Previously commented in /r/nintendo:
Wow! Both the original post and the comments are really thorough. I have to confess a lot of this is over my head.
I have a question: is it safe to use a 3rd-party converter with an official Nintendo AC adapter?
For example:
I'm hoping the converter simply acts as a pass-through, and that the power adapter works as it should.
Note: I hope links to Amazon are allowed. Apologies if they aren't. I wanted to make sure I identified the products I own.
Well I'd say your best bet would be cutting the bottom of the grip with a Stanley knife. Saves buying another grip and should be pretty easy, it's just soft plastic. Otherwise I've heard good things about this Satisfye grip - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07FNJJG5V/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_vGMRDbG23WWCE and it doesn't seem to obstruct the USB C port at all.
If you're nervous about scratches (as I am), I would definitely recommend this console cover. It's doubles as a kickstand of sorts, but much sturdier than the one built into the console. You don't be able to dock it while the cover is in use, but if you purchase a USB C extender, you can just plug the console into the dock-- that way you never have to worry about scratches if you have a warped dock.
I have both of these products (just got the extender today) and they work beautifully. I hope this helps!
The chances of a website with a high profile product such as the switch is likely and possible of crashing, although in cases like those, it's always great to have the app installed onto your phone. I've been able to preorder items with high demand, like the switch through the app, and also by monitoring its offer listings on Amazon, instead of the direct URL. Typically the item will appear first on the offer listing page, and then it'll appear on the direct URL to the product page. Feel free to bookmark this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01LTHP2ZK/
i think i saw somewhere that there are joy con with dpad's like this one : https://www.amazon.com/HORI-D-Pad-Controller-Zelda-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01AJRN4CE?th=1 . is this just a modded version of the hori joycon? so this doesnt have all the features of the original joy cons?

I have this travel case and it's a pretty great case. Easy to put the switch in(it fits with the joycons already on), 20 cartridge slots for games, and the zipper pocket which should be big enough for an extra set of joycons or two + a bit more like some cords.
https://www.amazon.com/Hestia-Goods-Switch-Carrying-compatible-Nintendo/dp/B0711K97BS/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1524421049&sr=1-4&keywords=nintendo+switch+case
another very similar case is this https://www.amazon.com/Orzly-Carry-Compatible-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01NAUKS62/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1524421049&sr=1-3&keywords=nintendo+switch+case
So here's the thing about the switch, it's stupidly durable. Here's a video showcasing how strong the console itself actually is:
https://youtu.be/kqMgv9hHmrY
That being said, the closest I could find to a case similar to what you described would be this:
MoKo Nintendo Switch Case, Segment Design Protective Set Crystal Hard Back Clear Cover, Shock-Absorption and Anti-Scratch, for Nintendo Switch Console (2017) - Crystal Clear https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B078V15VY4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ArTKAbS1SVHHA
All other cases I've seen are kidnapped stow and go and don't let you play the console without taking them out of the case.
As for controllers you have a few options. The main one is buying another set of joy cons (which are the controllers that CE with your switch). This way you'll technically have 4 controllers because each individual joy con can be used as one. You can also buy the Nintendo official pro controller which is similar to the one made for the Xbox 360/Xbox one and doesn't split into two like the joycon. To buy a set of joycon or a pro controller is about the same price. Nintendo does have some officially licensed pro controllers that have Zelda and Mario designs on them but they are not wireless which may or may not be a deal breaker for you (they are cheaper though).

Nintendo Switch Wired Controller Plus – Super Mario https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B075DNGDWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_CwTKAb20D87WT. (this one also has a Zelda design for the same price)
Can anyone can help me price my Switch bundle? I'm in no rush to sell, I just never play the thing.
I'm selling the following:
So what do you think a fair asking price for all that would be?
I was thinking:
$419 total, do y'all think $400 would be a fair price for all that?
This stuff is pretty obvious. Look at your friends, people you know. How many people use wired ethernet nowadays? It's a vanishingly small number I'm sure.
So why put a port that is niche onto a device and make it more expensive for everyone? When it comes to maximising profits on hardware then every penny counts. Putting an ethernet port on adds to the Bill of Materials (BoM: the amount it costs to manufacture the device), it increases the number of faulty devices coming back for repairs under warranty and increases the amount of testing required. So you're adding costs and risks to your device when only, what, 5% of your customers will ever use it.
That barely used ethernet port could be the different between a $299 and $310 device, and that leading digit could have a huge psychological effect on customers' perception.
So what's the alternative? Well, manufacture a separate dongle. Because it's a niche product you can jack up the price to cover its design, manufacture and testing costs and warranty returns. Because it's separate to the main device it doesn't matter so much if there are issues with it. In fact, you could tender it out to a third-party to manufacture and not have to stress about it much at all. It's off your critical path, it's out of your books. Your risky, expensive port has been transformed into pure profit.
Sorry dude....
07:41 AM PST Priyanka: I see that the there is no such item available on Amazon (now)
The link which you sent me will be available within 15-20 days.
What I will do is, once the item is in stock I will email you personally.
Would that be convenient for you ?
07:42 AM PST Me: Ah, so there are no colored ones available for Amazon? Other retailers had it available in grey and then the color I showed you. So that color will not be available for 15-20 days?
07:43 AM PST Priyanka: Yes, correct it will be in stock within 1-2 week but has no estimated date
07:44 AM PST Me: Is it possible that there will be another option for this item? B01LTHP2ZK

For sure it would fix your issue (and wired is always better for gaming). I'm not sure if they are all compatible with the Switch, but here is the official version on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Internet-Officially-Licensed-wii-u/dp/B01N6S068R
And one of the suggested items showed a cheaper version as well:

Hope this helps :)
I hear you man but can I make a suggestion and buy the joy con that has to be attached at all times to work? The one with the D Pad. I’ve had it half a year and other than a goofy squishy minus button it works flawless. It’s normally $20 but I bought it for $13 on Amazon.
Edit: this HORI D-Pad Controller (L) (Zelda) Officially Licensed - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AJRN4CE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EUPNDbS63BBTA
If you're worried about him ripping the joycons off with his Hulk-strength maybe you'd be interested in the grip attachment made by Satisfye.
Personally I've found it makes it much more comfortable to hold playing handheld and, in your cousin's case, it would probably greatly help in acting as a brace since he'd be holding the grip which also runs across the back of the console as well and not just the joycons themselves. You'd have to try pretty hard to accidentally break that thing.

I'm using a 26800 mah RavPower. I just got back from ten days in Northern China and this battery just kept going. It's the non-USB C version, but it's powerful enough to charge the Switch while playing Zelda and then keep the Switch at 100% for hours. Also, 26800 mah is the largest capacity you're allowed to take on a plane, so it's the perfect travel companion not only for my Switch, but all of my devices.
It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012NIQG5E?ref=emc_b_5_t
I bought it locally here in China. Also, I use the USB charging cable that came with my Pro controller.
Thanks, I am currently looking at this option on Amazon, beyond buy the games separately, is there really anything else I need? This comes with the docking console to play on a tv, but do I also need some third party cable or cord? Is there anything else you suggest for a kind of starter pack gift do?
I'm looking for recommendations on a travel case that will fit THIS inside as well as the dock, pro controller, joy grip, power and hdmi.
most of the full travel cases I see have the thumb sticks rubbing on something and this imo is not good for them. Thus I rather find something that will fit the above case in it to prevent this problem.
Thank you in advance for your time and have a good day.
I think Blunty made a nice video on this matter, because choosing sd cards is absolutely confusing to me.
I'm going to go with this one (Sandisk Ultra 64GB - $15.99) because its a good price for a nice amount of memory. I'm not going all digital, and honestly 64GB may be too much for me, however I'm holding onto the hope that they'll release GC games on the switch. If they do, I'm prolly gonna buy a ton of them and thus would need more space.
Well again, I'm not wound up about it, but literally every version of these games that has been re-released (even Wii/Wii U VC) has either Y and B inputs or button remapping, so it's a weird defense to make. Also I'm not sure why someone wouldn't use a pro controller if they have one, ESPECIALLY when I'm playing 2D games on the TV because the joycons have no d-pad to speak of. I even got this so I could have a real d-pad in handheld mode rather than those insane buttons. But again, that's me and I'm not saying everyone has to do it the same, just a bit weird that you're confused by using pro controllers (which I'm not sure even came up in this thread). My question would be why use a single joycon for a game with no analog controls? Why would I want to play NES games (or even modern 2D platformers) with a joycon control stick?
Again, nothing wrong with X and A but there are pretty obvious benefits to using dual joy cons or pro controller over a sideways joycon (which I personally view as the ultimate last resort for multiplayer games).
Same with me. I tried several different grips and not many of them helped except for this one. It actually works pretty great. It changes the angle of the right side so your thumb lays across the joystick more comfortably.
If you want a protective but not as aesthetic option id recommend a combination of these two things off of amazon
https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Hybrid-Cover-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N22YBVY/ref=sr_1_3?crid=36NGRU7P5EXJB&keywords=nintendo%2Bswitch%2Bflip%2Bcase&qid=1571879299&sprefix=nintendo%2Bswitch%2Bflip%2Caps%2C139&sr=8-3&th=1
(A hybrid case than can open and flip shut)
and
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Comfort-Grip-Grey-Guards/dp/B01MUAO202/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2B2R99FX54P59&keywords=nintendo%2Bswitch%2Bjoycon%2Bguard&qid=1571879348&sprefix=nintendo%2Bswitch%2Bjoy%2Bcon%2Bgu%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-4&th=1
this will get you full button functionality as well as the ability to flip it open and shut. also 3d printing would probably be more expensive unless you have one locally available.
Anything over 20,000 mAh would fit that bill.
Rav Power And Anker make the most popular devices.
Do note, that you will need to play in airplane mode, and maybe turn the brightness down a tad to stretch out your play time.
you need to decide if you want it "small as possible" or to fit a Pro controller can't be both :/..
i really like this one. its "semi hard" which i recommend it to help protect the switch in case it fall or it get hit
I'm trying to decide this myself. Currently my frontrunner is this one, but I could be convinced otherwise if anyone has a case they really love.
That's if they restock it. Reggie said during the Treehouse presentation that there is only a limited number of them being made and once theyre gone, theyre gone. I mainly want the map and the coin, the statue is cool but you can get much more detailed ones elsewhere. What I did was set up alerts on Amazon so hopefully they get restocks while the Americans are asleep. Heres the links if you want to do the same. Consoles are region free so the cart will still play here
Thanks for the link. I wonder why the Special Edition is $99.99 in the US (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N224U9S/) and £159.99 in the UK? That seems...wonky.
Edit - it's gone down to £89.99 now. Any sign of the master edition in the UK?
Edit again - looks like the special edition in the UK includes the master sword, so maybe that's the only edition we're getting?
A little over 26800 mAh translates to just under 100 watt hours which is the maximum battery capacity allowed on most commercial airlines. But of course, always check the airline's website before flying to make sure. With that amount of battery, you should be able to play for over 11 hours.
Here's the battery pack I have for my switch and it works wonderfully:

I've had this one since launch. It's held up great. It doesn't fit a pro controller, but it comes with 2 game cases that hold 4 games each, and there's also a zipper pocket inside for other things/more games. You could find a bigger case that holds controllers and dock, but at that point you might as well just throw all your shit in a backpack or duffle bag. This size case works best for keeping the system safe, whether you're only hauling just that, or putting it in another bag.
There are other colors and styles made by the same company, some a couple bucks cheaper.

Thanks ! Some people advce this one, what do you think about it ?
I don't understand anything about the battery specs ^^.
10 hours is very cool ! Have fun too.
The Skull & Co. Max Carry case fits 2 Hori 24 game card cases perfectly in the compartment below the Switch.

Nintendo AC Adapter
I got one question..
If I buy a official ac adapter from nintendo like the one from above will I be able to plug it in the EU Nintendo Switch and charge it normally without problems?
Checking on Bestbuy, I found both the charging grip (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-joy-con-charging-grip/5730706.p?skuId=5730706) which'll charge your joycons as you or your friend play, and an off-brand version for a very reasonable price (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/powera-comfort-grip-for-nintendo-joy-con-controllers-black/5729901.p?skuId=5729901).
The charging grip is also available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Charging-Grip/dp/B01N33MFPK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1497755536&sr=8-3&keywords=joycon+grip), as is the non-charging off-brand grip (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Comfort-Grip-Black/dp/B01MS7YUA7/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1497755536&sr=8-4&keywords=joycon+grip).
It's pretty weird that you can't buy a standalone Nintendo-brand non-charging grip, isn't it?
There's also a lower capacity model w/ charger for a little bit less. I don't think it has the same features as this one, but otherwise it seems like a good deal as well.
If you hate the dpad, you can get a dual shock 4 (might still be on sale at Amazon) and the 8bitdo USB adapter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0786JC6VW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_RJ3-BbAKCBXWQ).
Yes, this allows you to use the DS4 on a switch, it also allows use of motion controls. I don't know how well motion controls work on the ds4 vs the switch cons, but I've heard that this set up works flawlessly.
I personally did the dpad mod with some tape over the electrical contact points. It did slightly reduce the rate of wrong directions from rolling the dpad back and forth, but the design of the switch pro controller dpad means that it will never be as accurate as the joycons even if it's more comfortable. Rolling left right left right is almost always going to throw an up or down in the mix.
8bitdo also makes SNES looking controllers that work natively on the Switch as well. I've heard the newer models are nicer than the old ones.
Note that any of these solutions will lose HD rumble because that is exclusive to Nintendo first party controllers.
can someone recommend a charger cable for the switch. I plan on going on the road and i want to charge it with my power bank.
I have this powerbank:
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-RAVPower-Battery-26800mAh/dp/B012NIQG5E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1520468343&sr=8-3&keywords=ravpower+bank
An amazon link to a cable would be perfect. Thank you
So I'm using a very full 64GB MicroSD card and bought a 400 GB replacement. Now, what is the best way to backup your things?
Do I connect and transfer the old card contents from Micro SD card, to my PC. Then format my new 400GB Micro and then put the data back onto the 400GB?
Do I need to use any Cloud features? Will I be losing anything?
This is what I bought btw. Is it a good one? (19K 4 1/2 Stars)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074RNRM2B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: Also, I did a search before posting this here, both here and google.
Master edition : https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Master-Switch/dp/B01MT8SWKC/ref=zg_bs_videogames_4
Special edition: https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Special-Switch/dp/B01N224U9S/ref=zg_bs_videogames_3
Special edition case looks more or less like the regular retail version. The Master edition is black and a bit cooler looking.
If you're talking about the carry case, then yes, they seem to be exactly the same in both packages.
Amazon has the neon red-blue for msrp right now. You can also order the double red or Grey but they'll take longer to ship.
Amazon
edit: Gamestop has grey joy cons online as well
I was able to very recently pick up a 512GB Micro SD Card for $89, which was a worthwhile investment for me because my digital library has expanded greatly since I got my switch at launch (I’m at about 90 games now, with I think 16 physical)
However, I also see that this 400GB Micro SD Card is on sale for $56.99 right now. If you don’t think the extra $32 is worth the extra 112GB (I don’t blame you) then that’s an absolute steal. Prices on Micro SD cards have dropped by an average of over 30% in the last month by my estimate.
I will say you probably don’t want to get a “phone case” type case for your switch due to the fact that you need to dock it. Invest in a good Tempered Glass Screen Protector , and get a good Carrying Case . I use and highly recommend the ones linked. The carrying case is a perfect fit for the switch without holding the joycons too tightly; it straps the switch in with velcro. The 12 game cart capacity and the elastic cart holders is also the best solution I’ve seen in any case. I am able to put joycon straps and headphones in the little pocket without worrying about anything hitting the switch, since the game cart flap is soft on the back and acts as a barrier between the two. The tempered glass screen protector has lasted me two years without a scratch.
EDIT: as a further note, the theoretical limit to the switch’s SD capacity is 4TB but micro SD cards only go up to 1TB at the time of writing, and those cost $449
I have the RDS Deluxe case, and really like it! I work at a library and occasionally bring the entire system in for a program, and it comfortably holds the tablet with joycons attached, dock, pro controller, AC brick and HDMI cables... I can fit the joycon grip in one of the slightly curved slots in the top left and right (I usually tuck the AC brick in the other).
There's also enough space that I can bring along, without worry, a second set of joycons, all four joycon straps, and a Hori game case. I just tuck these things in and between the Switch itself and the dock. I face the Switch screen towards the front of the case, and while I do have a screen protector on it, nothing has ever gotten scratched -- with the case zipper shut, it holds everything snugly enough. I'm not sure where you live, but I was able to pick one up at Target in the US (Oregon), and it was nice not to have to wait on shipping.
That being said, the reviews that mention it having kind of a weird smell are totally true. I left it open and airing for a day or two before use and it doesn't bother me/I don't notice it anymore.
I just got this I posted the link below it's only $17, and let's me use my Xbox one controller with my switch. It works perfectly and just saved me a lot of money than to buy another controller since I have three Xbox one controllers already. It works with PS4 controllers as well if you have one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B073ZFPJLQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have one of these cases that I got for free when I bought MK8D. The product description says "4.7 x 1.2 x 6.1 inches", but I'm pretty sure that should be cm.
Yeah 8bitdo has this controller adapter for only $20 if you want to use your dualshock 4 on Switch. I almost got that myself but I decided to wait until the SN30 Pro+ was released because I wanted a good proper dpad lol
I have dismotricity so I know your pain. I am only able to play it using the Satisfye grip (https://www.amazon.com/Satisfye-Ultimate-Comfortable-Ergonomic-Accessories-Thumbsticks/dp/B07FNJJG5V/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 )and even then I still do feel as if the game was no made for gamers with disabilities. I hope you will be able to enjoy it too and good luck !
I feel like it would be best to get things like this for Switch and this for 3ds and just put it in a generic backpack/messenger bag/purse/whatever.
I got a recommendation for a off brand adaptor on Amazon from this sub reddit that works great. I went from a 6mbps(wifi) to a 39mbps(wired). The adapter was $10 with free shipping.
UGREEN Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 to 10/100 Network RJ45 Lan Wired Adapter for Nintendo Switch, Wii, Wii U, Macbook, Chromebook, Windows 10, 8.1, Mac OS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_nk7jJt2Ewrut5
I use the RavPower 26,800 mAh one and it's been great. Bought it from Amazon in 2017 and they replaced it for free after 18 months under warranty. If that's too big I would go with either Anker or RavPower in a smaller model.
It's $50 now (I think I paid $65 for it)
https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-Portable-Charger-26800mAh-External/dp/B012NIQG5E
Screen protector and a case for the switch is the only thing I can think of. And oh... the 24 games case that can also hold 2 extra sd cards. Its this one. They sell them at gamestop or electronic stores for super cheap, totally worth it accessory. :) https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Game-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01NASY99Z
Okay, I found this one here that seems to get good reviews.
I asked somebody else on this drive the same question, if I got this one instead of the more expensive one you posted as well as a second charger I can have one dedicated to the switch.
Is there much difference between the amperage on these two?
Currently my router is upstairs and I have 1 ethernet cable running through the floor to my desktop. I would rather not use Wi-Fi on my switch. Could I use something like this to split my cable, or would something like this be better?
Secondly for the cable should I purchase the official Nintendo connector or would this cheaper one work?
No, the standard non-pack in grip is larger and rubberized. And also made by powerA but branded Nintendo too.
"The Comfort Grip is slightly wider than the original Joy-Con Grip."
Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Comfort Grip - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS7YUA7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_9xmEzb6CQ7D0C
I have not tried it personally, but there are solutions like a dongle with a wired xbox 360 controller:
This would be the dongle:
https://www.amazon.com/FastSnail-Controller-Converter-Controllers-Compatible/dp/B073ZFPJLQ
But I don't know if you can use 3rd party controllers with that.
Agreed, 64GB should be good! Here's one that's pretty cheap atm! Amazon
I use the charging base from my iPad with a braided USB-C cable. The cable rolls up nicely and tucks in the pouch of my Zelda case, and I tuck the charging base right below the D-Pad.
I did some testing when I first got the Switch, and this combo charged at the exact same rate as using the official charger. I've been very happy with it!
yeah, I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-Portable-26800mAh-Recharged-Nintendo/dp/B01LRQDAEI/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1518448115&sr=8-32&keywords=ravpower
I like it because it has power delivery and USB-C to USB-C which means it'll charge the Switch faster, and if you have a good USB-C wall adapter, it'll charge the brick faster too.
But this one: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-RAVPower-Battery-26800mAh/dp/B012NIQG5E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1518448103&sr=8-4&keywords=ravpower
is the same capacity without power delivery and USB-C for almost half the price. I got mine on a significant sale ($55) so it was worth it to me, but if I were buying new right now at these prices, I'd probably go for the cheap one. It won't charge the Switch as fast, but you shouldn't have any problem with it not charging fast enough while you're playing games, unless you have multiple things plugged into it at once.
I have that same Sheika Slate Switch case that came with LoZ:BotW Master Set... I can fit 3 of these cases by Hori...
https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Game-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01NASY99Z/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Nintendo+Switch+game+case&qid=1559112276&s=gateway&sr=8-3
Each holds 24 carts, and they’re not thin cases, they’re about an inch thick. 2 will fit under the netting, and the 3rd fits right next to them, it’s just not under the net. As long as you don’t want anything else in the case to also carry, 3 will fit just fine. Just a suggestion.
Any experiences with hybrid covers like this one?:https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Hybrid-Cover/dp/B01N22YBVY
I would like to get one, but is it comfortable to use in handheld mode with the flap in the back?
True, $10
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B00ET4KHJ2
I hadn't shopped around because it wasn't my Switch, and Splatoon is gonna be a bit janky anyway because nobody else is using Ethernet, but the Nintendo one is $25 for some reason lmao
A lot of Switch accessories seem to be made by generic Chinese sources and sold under various brand names so you might see these under different names, but I like these. Before they were out I tried the Surge ones, but they're smaller and don't have mechanisms to make the SL/SR buttons larger.
The one advantage the Surge ones have is still leaving it possible to press the regular shoulder buttons, but that's just a theoretical advantage since I don't think anything uses them in single Joy-Con mode at this point.
I have this which is sadly the best case to actually put on your switch in my opinion. The single piece hard shell case you'd need to remove the entire thing if you want to just remove 1 joycon. The TPU cases seem a bit too finicky to get on from some reviews.
I might give this grip and case a try. Apparently the grip is larger than the stock one so it should fit better in my hands. The case seems like it should fit joycons so it seems like it's what OP's looking for. The licensed one from Nintendo is hot ***. Doesn't fit anything but the switch, games, and cables which is what I get from my $2 generic case.
I'd like to put this here as a cheaper alternative to the official Nintendo adapter. Haven't had any problems with it, works great.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you're not confident enough to fix it yourself, I'd say go for a new one (they have them on Amazon for ~$27). I'd also recommend sticking to official Nintendo ones, since a lot of 3rd party accessories (primarily docks) have been bricking Switches (plus 1st party AC Adapters aren't hard to find, again, ~$27 on Amazon).

Amazon
Best Buy
Gamestop
Looks like Best Buy is the only one not sold out.
If she's good with a PS4 controller, you could try this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073ZFPJLQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_5vDHzbKG3W2E8
I haven't had a chance to try it for myself yet but it looks like a potential solution that's way cheaper than a Switch Pro controller.
FastSnail Joy-Con Grips, Wear-resistant Joy-con Handle for Switch, 2 Pack (Red and Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y6BX6HT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_YPbvzbJGN3WJD
I love these. Makes each joycon feel like a full controller!
Do you know if this would work with the dock?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7RUZ49/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
I had imagined this was for plugging directly into the console and the description seems to indicate the same. Some comments seem to indicate this can also be plugged into the dock. I have. $25 credit from a shark week promo that’s only valid on a select number of things, so I might grab a $40 dock if I can get the power adapter for $2 after my credit. I just want to make sure this is compatible with the dock first though and not just for plugging directly into the switch. I’ve heard too many horror stories of bricking consoles with 3rd party docks, but this power adapter and the dock should both be first party.
Direct Link to the 1.13 Firmware update
I just played some Rocket League to test it out and it seems to work flawlessly with no perceptible lag and rumble support. The buttons correspond to the button position on the Pro Controller, so the transition was seamless.
Only the newer Xbox One controllers are supported since the earlier ones didn't have Bluetooth. I am running on the latest firmware(5.0) for the Switch as well.
The adapter is available from Amazon for $20.
Edit - This usually gets asked everytime so let me preemptively say No,Third Party Controllers do not support Amiibo.
Any reason why you don't simply buy a Hori D Pad ? It is a great solution...
https://www.amazon.com/HORI-D-Pad-Controller-Zelda-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01AJRN4CE

Otherwise I just stick to the "Benson approved" ones.
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Internet-Officially-Licensed-wii-u/dp/B01N6S068R/
Would definitely get the official adapter even if there are cheaper ones out there, since the recent update has been reported to have caused some issues with the third party adapters like ugreen (from what I've seen).
You might also want to grab one of these. It's not really necessary, exactly, but might help prevent fights, haha. This is a comfort grip. Basically a piece of plastic that you connect two joy-cons to such that it looks more like a typical video game controller. You'll get one with your Switch, but if you end up getting another set of joy-cons, you might run into a situation where Kid 1 has a grip and Kid 2 doesn't, and Kid 2 is mad about it. It's not really a necessary thing, but might make for a smoother experience all around.
Getting Prepared for smash and have 2 questions.
1- Lan adapters - Does it matter exactly what i get? I would like to NOT pay 30 bucks for the official Nintendo one and found this on Amazon but wasn't sure if its exactly what i need?
https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1543589715&sr=8-5&keywords=nintendo+switch+lan+adapter
2- Game cube controllers, Do any USB(unlicensed) game cube controllers work with the switch? Or do i need to buy either the USB converter or the Switch Game cube controllers?
Thanks!
Wow, thanks for the heads up!! I got an order in.
It's confusing because I had the original special listing in my wish list, but there is a new listing for this.
Link: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N224U9S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
How does it compare to something like the Ravpower 26800? I've never owned a power bank before but was just told to try and get something with USB Type C ports.
All I really care about is which item powers my Switch quicker.
This is the Anker one I bought. It doesn’t have the logo but on a Reddit thread that compared listed this one and it works perfectly.
Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD, 20100mAh Portable Charger & 30W Power Delivery Wall Charger Bundle, Input & Output Type C Power Bank for MacBook Air/iPad Pro 2018, Nexus 6P, iPhone 8/X, MacBooks, S10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071WNWRNC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7hkrDbVQ0YEV4
With this you can use a PlayStation 4/3 or Xbox 360/one cord wired. I just ordered one from Amazon and got it the other day it works pretty good.
I'm not the same person, but I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074RNRM2B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also, I picked it up for $80 and this one is now $63.65 so that's cool
Edit:
It works perfectly, never had an issue.
Yes it's true and you need a adapter. I use thisone to play with a xbox 360 controller and a logitech F710 and its work perfectly. Its plug and play. I know there is other adapter too but never try them.
https://www.amazon.com/FastSnail-Controller-Converter-Controllers-Compatible/dp/B073ZFPJLQ
Oh, I either didn’t notice that or completely slipped from my mind
Well I’ll keep that in mind if I need an extra
That’s what I noticed when looking through some - makes it difficult to tell honestly
But it looks like I’m looking at:
Butter fox Nintendo Switch Carrying Case
Which will hopefully fit in the Anti-Theft backpack I’m looking at)
Anker Powercore portable charger
Onson Anti-Theft Backpack
Unless there’s better options that come along (Though it’s difficult for me to be able to figure that out - comparing specs and tech isn’t my forte), I think I might have things locked down.... but pricey though from the looks of it, but should be worth it in the long run
I think that would cover everything I believe
An alternative to buying a pro controller is to get a better joy con grip. This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Joy-Comfort-Grips-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MS7YUA7
That is not the same grip. That looks like a third party grip.
The left one looks like this third party grip
Don't both these companies have versions already out for the OG switch? I have the skull and co case lol.
Sec let me look
Skull&Co
Satisfye
There's even more compact options like this that make a huge difference too (I have this one as well). Grips stick out past the switch but they're smaller. It's kinda like the skull&co with the smallest grips attached but a little less bulky.

I can't seem to find the Best Buy links now, but they will also probably be there too. All additional Joy-Con variations to purchase now are: Gray (2), Red (L) & Blue (R), Red (2), Blue (2), Gray (L), & Gray (R)
it is, and it's wonderful. If you're concerned about the kickstand, there is a cover that you can purchase that is really good quality, and you don't have to take the cover off to charge it (you will have to remove it to dock though)...
https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Nintendo-Switch-Hybrid-Cover/dp/B01N22YBVY/ref=sr_1_12?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1510032650&sr=1-12&keywords=nintendo%2Bswitch%2Bcover&th=1
I was able to find it at GameStop if you can't wait for Amazon shipping.
I think any USB pack will charge the Switch when it's not being used, but might not keep up with it while you're gaming on it.
To get the most charging potential, get a pack with USB-PD (power delivery). It can deliver a lot more power than standard USB.
Although pricy, I bought this one LINK and it works great. It also includes a USB-PD charger, which is nice...
I keep seeing the Switch listed at different prices for seemingly the exact same thing. For example, on Amazon I'm seeing it listed for $359. Whereas at Best Buy, I'm seeing the exact same thing listed at $300. Is there something I'm missing here? More memory in the one on Amazon or something? I'd obviously buy it from Best Buy if it's $300, but I feel like I'm overlooking something here. I thought the Switch was $300 at release. What's with the sudden price hike at some places?
this seems to be the best game case out there, but doesn't look like its as compact or thin as the case you mentioned. Might be worth waiting a little bit to see if anyone are producing are thin game case if you really need it to be thin and compact, this still should fit in a bag or a coat pocket though
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06Y6BX6HT/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have these as well. They're awesome for Mario Kart!
I have had two cases so far.
[This] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Starter-Kit-Mario-Icon/dp/B01N9RO6AM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1493574619&sr=8-3&keywords=mario%2Bswitch%2Bcase&th=1) is the first one. I bougt it when I first got the Switch, mainly because it was the only one in stock. I didn't care for all the extra accessaries, but some people have liked them. The case is incredibly roomy and I could my switch, with joycons and silicone grips attached, as well as a USB-C cord, headphones, amiibo cards, and a modified grip. Dropped the case several times with not a bit of damage to my precious.
I also just bought this [Zelda case]
(https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01N5T26EP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493574538&sr=8-1&keywords=zelda+switch+case), since my local store took my first one for tradein and I really wanted a Zelda case. It is a bit narrower, and I only feel confortable leaving the Switch in it, and now carry my accessories in a separate pouch (I have too many amiibo cards, so this was not an issue for me.) It could just be me though, as I have an insane fear of putting too much stress on the screen.
Both cases have space for games, Mario - 12 games, Zelda - 6/8 depending on if you use some space allotted for microsd cards. I feel like both are solid cases, it just depends on what you want to do with them.
I think there is a 1TB microSD card available, but it's absurdly expensive and not worth it for its price point. Most people go with 256GB, 400GB, or 512GB.
You don't need to use a Nintendo branded microSD card. In fact, you're literally just paying for the branding and cool looking card (that you don't even look at anyways because it's in your Switch 100% of the time). A better thing to do is get a 400GB one for $50 USD on Amazon..
Btw, Amazon US still has 64GB SanDisk microSD cards for $15.99 right now.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010Q588D4/
For anyone who is planning on going "all" physical (the exception being digital only titles) like myself, the 64GB extra should cover pretty much everything else.
I just ordered online from Amazon Prime now
Maybe everyone but me knew about it but I was shopping for toys on the internet and found this weird thing called amazon prime now. For kicks I looked up if they had a Nintendo Switch and was able to order one. I had to call and ask customer service if this was actually happening (she laughed at me and said it was). I have been looking for a Switch for months not expecting to get one anytime soon but there in stock in Denver. So if you live near Denver put down the pot and get a switch. if you haven't already.
https://primenow.amazon.com/dp/B01LTHP2ZK?qid=1499289656&m=A1PDIPZWKAU9IY&ref_=pn_sr_sg_1_img_A1PDIPZWKAU9IY

Has anyone brought these? They are grips for the single joy cons. Want to know if they are worth it.
To be honest i dont have a clue, just repeating stuff i have read on this thread. In summary I think this page:
(https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01LTHP2ZK/ref=olp_twister_child?ie=UTF8&mv_edition=0) is the best one to refresh.
No idea how valid that info is though.
For the 110/240 issue, that's a tough one. I'd assume the one that the switch comes with will be localized, and if the label on it says 110/240, you'll be fine ordering any adapter.
Like this one!
www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-AC-Adapter/dp/B01N7RUZ49
If it says only one or the other, you'll need to be more careful and make sure you get the right one.
Edit: clarification about 110/240
This one seems good for a cheaper option. Not sure what the exact amp output it has (says 5.5A max). Might be a good one to use while playing however, even if there will still be battery drain on the Switch.
Yeah looks like it has something like the Hybrid cover: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Hybrid-Cover/dp/B01N22YBVY
SanDisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FF.BDbQ23NTTR
I bought 128gb card at launch and am just now having to delete games in my library. I’m planning on holding off until Black Friday to get 512gb card for as cheap as possible.
Hi, I'm thinking about picking up a carrying case for my switch (something I could keep in my backpack that wouldn't get flattened by my books) and I've narrowed my search down to three cases. Which would you say is the best option?
Hestia Goods Switch Carrying Case
Orzly Carry Case
Nintendo Switch Carrying Case – Protective Deluxe Travel Case
Amiibos
Tempered-glass screen protector
Pro Controller
Deluxe Carrying case
Carrying case
Portable charger
Pro controller + joy-con charging dock
Game card case (for physical games)
Gamecube controller (for Smash) and adapter
Poké ball plus (for Pokémon Let's Go) and charging stand
LAN adapter

These are all accessories that I have and love.
if you get any samsung or sundisk SD card it will be good also look for ones that have higher read and write speeds theses ones are good

So sorry you're still looking for a preorder :( Have you tried your local Walmarts? People seem to be having more luck there than anywhere else. Also, if you want the Neon and can spare the extra money, you can preorder the Neon Joy Cons from Amazon and just buy the grey Switch from Walmart.
Canadian here. You can order from Amazon.com.
https://www.amazon.com/Satisfye-Ultimate-Accessories-Comfortable-Ergonomic-Thumbsticks/dp/B07FNJJG5V?ref_=ast_sto_dp
I plan to order one for myself on Black Friday :) However, I've heard that it's meant for people with larger than average hands, so def not for your son.
For a cheap controller, I'd recommend getting the 8bitdo wireless adapter. That way, you can use your PS4 controller!
There's a third party that made plain plastic ones: https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Joy-Comfort-Grip-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MS7YUA7?th=1
They're not branded, but they are cheaper. They're also pretty expensive for being pieces of plastic, which is why I just ended up buying a charging grip myself. Cheaper ones will probably come pouring out of China soon enough.
I'm getting the one from HORI, it looks pretty good:
https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Game-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01NASY99Z/
I use this and this and it fits well enough. I can also fit my charger and joycon straps in the zipper part.
Only thing about that carrying case is mine had a pretty strong odor for a while, but it did go away.
I just got my Switch yesterday and I think I'll probably be fine with the 32GB for a while but I went ahead and picked up this 64GB Micro SD card from amazon Prime Day for $17.99. I didn't really shop around but I think it is at least an ok deal. I'd rather not have to worry at all about my memory.
Install a glass screen protecter. Amazon has some like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N9RG3XS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And if your kids will have it in handheld mode a lot, consider something like this case:
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Hybrid-Cover/dp/B01N22YBVY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486520554&sr=8-1&keywords=nintendo+switch+cover
Uh, they've had power delivery banks for a good while now lol.
20000 bank with PD, usb-c cable with PD, and wall charger with PD.
26800 bank with PD and same accessories.
