I've converted a bathroom we weren't using. It started with just the shower... but... they keep growing.

4x4 seems big now. 4 plants will be MORE than enough to fill it. Look at pictures of plants ready to harvest and try to gets a sense of size. MOST of them are bigger than 2x2, right? And that's all the space a 4x4 will give for each plant if you run 4. I thought my 30x30 shower would be great. Two plants have it MORE than overgrown. The other two plants take up most of the bathroom. You can't turn around in there at the moment. lol. You can run 4 in a 4x4... but I wouldn't push to six! And you'll have to get creative with training and pruning at times!

I'm worried you don't have enough light. The actual wattage of that fixture is 180watts... and divided by your 16 square feet, that's only 11.25 watts per square foot. You want to aim for between 30 and 50, depending on your light's efficiency. Now... this isn't MG where we need to be snobby... so you absolutely CAN grow with less than that... but you're quite a ways below it. (essentially one per plant.) But that's a full spectrum COB, and I expect (and so far have seen) better efficiency results out of it than the red/blue ('blurple') things all over the internet. At the moment I've got 4 of them, and love them. I've also got a cheap 80w actual (sold as a 250w) blurple light that i use for seeds/clones/mothers in a separate area. It works fine for that. Your light ought to be adequate for two plants! But I'd pick up another to supplement it if you want to run all 4 and fill the tent!

I've got a 6" filter and the cheapest inline fan I could find on Amazon, and they do fine and aren't loud enough to hear outside the bathroom. I'm exhausting my duct straight into the attic. I didn't mind cutting a hole as i needed to add a vent to that bathroom when I finally renovate it anyway. Between the filter and then having the attic space to diffuse, I don't smell it anywhere indoors or out. ((Before I added the filter and fan... ermagawd. The entire streeeeeeeet smelled. And the plants were just a month old! I got out of my car one day and was knocked over by it. Went straight inside and ordered a filter and fan.)

I've been getting seeds from both Greybeard on FB, and from Greenpoint in Colorado. Never had trouble with either!

A dome will increase your seedling success rate, but you only need it for the first week or two. You can get by with just flipping a clear rubbermaid tub upside down over all the seedlings, really, or even saran wrapping over the cups. You just want the humidity to be high in there for a few days until the roots are established enough to do the drinking. Once a day take the cover off for 5 minutes to let it air out... and then spritz the dome with a spray bottle full of water before you put it back... that way the light will evaporate the misted water on the dome and keep the air humid in there. Within a week I start opening the vents and letting air in (or I'd start poking small holes in the saran wrap)... so you really don't need it long... and probably can get by without it... but it's nice to have. Not the flimsy plastic 'crush if you sneeze on it' things you see at walmart for seed starting. You can totally get by improvising, but I do enough cloning I just wanted to get something affordable but nice.


Good for you starting in solo cups. Starting in anything smaller than that is a pain because they dry out so quickly. Solo cups are the right size for me. I start seeds in a wet paper towel, and then when they throw a root, I drop them a half inch down a hole into pure perlite. I keep them in the solo cup sized pot of perlite until they're almost root bound, then transplant into hydroponics, myself. If I were going to soil, I'd mix 50/50 perlite and potting soil in that cup... most likely.

I use a 400w HPS ($140 on Amazon and 2 of the cheapest Chinese "1000w" grow lights like [this one](https://www.amazon.com/Thermometer-Humidity-Adjustable-Spectrum-Consumption/dp/B07BV3KQMM/ (Link is just an example, I'm not recommending that product) that I can find in my 5x5 tent.

I haven't done any clinical study or anything, but they seem to perform better than the Mars Epistar (IIRC, not 100% sure what model I had. It was 3 years old when it was killed) I had before a direct lightning strike at my house murdered it last year. I'm sure I'm paying a few cents an hour extra as the Chinese lights are likely far less efficient, but for a personal grow tent, they're fine.

If LED tech ever stabilizes, I'll definitely go for a more efficient, expensive light again. But currently, a new $70 chinese light is often about as good as a $700 light was 3 or 4 years ago, so it's not worth it for me in my personal grows as I'll never get a return on my investment before the tech evolves again.

That said, since you're starting from the beginning, I'd take /u/iShatterBladderz's suggestion and get a quantum board from Kingbrite if you have the means to do so. As long as you aren't a moron like I was and include a good surge protector in your setup, it'll likely be a better investment in the long run.

It is like 75-100 more expensive but I felt like it was a huge jump in quality for the money invested. Thanks to the people who advised me to buy not as a complete kit.

1. Is your tap water that bad you cant just use some ph up/down to balance? 2. Autos typically get put into the same pot they will be in their whole life. Once the tap root is like an inch you just hop it into its new home. Full 24h light cycles are suggested for best results on most autos. Your nute situation would be dependent on your grow medium etc.. I would recommend some good soil for beginners and aside from just reg feedings I wouldn't use much fertilizers or enhancers just let the light and soil do the work.

For six plants all you need is a 400w HPS (high pressure sodium) bulb for veg and a 400w MH (metal halide) for flower, a 400w digital ballast, an enclosed light hood that you can raise and lower, a carbon filter connected to a 442 cfm duct fan connected to an aluminum foil duct hose, connect duct hose to the enclosed light hood, get some more aluminum foil duct to connect to the other side of the enclosed hood and have the other end of the duct hose going out of your tent or cab. wish I could post a pic of a custom cab I built. IMO I would go with a tent because you can always take it down if you want a break from growing. As far as what type of medium you are going to grow in e.g. hydroponics or soil that is up to you. Soil is easier as hydro doesn't give you much room for error you have to have everything dialed in almost exact like the ppms/temp/ph but once you get the hang of hydro your grows are much faster. If you use the 400w lights for six plants you will get maximum yield from your plants. For veg run the lights 24 hours and flower 12/12. Get a timer for your light bulbs when you decide to put your plants into flower so you don't have to worry about turning the light on and off, I'll include links for everything. Oh yeah I would not use seeds I would wait until dispensaries have clones that way you don't have to wonder if your plant will end up being a male or a female, obviously you want female plants.

This light has been working great for my two adult females. It is good enough for 2 adult plants. If you have 4 adult plants then buy two of these.

The description says they take like 2.5 grams but 1.8 to 1.9 grams you are good. One eighth will make 2 blunts if you dont pack too hard.

14 to 17 blunts per ounce. They go out quick and will last depending on how often you smoke.

I usually have three jars with an eighth in each. I have a pelican case to keep it put away since I have kids. Had 2 of 3 jars out for use. Emptied them, and went to check my other jar - couldn't remember what I had in it. Best case scenario - packed to the brim with Fruity Pebbles, and fresh. I love my jars. Probably overpaid for them, but they're UV proof, scent proof, and just the right size for an eighth Infinity Jars in case anyone is interested).
