I'm using a Retrolink N64 controller, which is honestly just an actual N64 controller rewired to USB. It works pretty flawlessly. I just bought a SNES USB controller today for a Raspberry Pi, but it seems to be a reproduction controller and doesn't feel as durable as an original. It plays just fine, though. I've found that a PS3 or Wii U Pro controller are great for everything, I just liked having a N64 controller for those games.
That looks like a generic one. Probably ok but not great.
OP, if you decide the d-pad on that is too mushy you should check this one out: iBuffalo Classic USB Gamepad for PC BSGP801GY https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002B9XB0E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_n6idzb7AP7TBT
And if you want a wireless option these are great too: 8bitdo SNES30 Wireless Bluetooth Controller Dual Classic Joystick for IOS / Android Gamepad - PC Mac Linux https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014QP2H1E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_l7idzb1Q0YG9Y
>Apparently its a very good controller and going to be very popular
That's very subjective :P

I have this dual adapter. OpenEmu detects both ports, but I can only configure the buttons for one. The controller works in game. I'm surprised since none of my Raphnet or Mayflash dual adapters work with OpenEmu. I can usually configure the buttons, but the controllers don't actually work in game.
Edit: I forgot to mention this is with Mojave (10.14.5) and OpenEmu 2.0.9.1
If you want a Genesis/Saturn style controller, Sega actually makes official USB versions which you can find on eBay. If you want an SNES controller, the Buffalo classic controller is supposed to be really good. It's made by a Japanese company, as opposed to the Chinese variants that flood the market and are reported to be poor quality.
If you’re looking for a cheap controller with a modern layout, you could try the Wired Pro Controller for the Switch. Only drawback is the triggers are either pressed or not pressed.
