I've read that this has noticable SDE and its a thousand dollars just for the headset alone. But I'd love to try one. Then you of course have the Vive Pro which is Samsung OLED that is supposed to be pretty decent. Then for only $300 or even $230 you can get a Samsung Odessey+ which has the exact same screen as the Pro but an odd design comfort wise.

Those are the three I know of.

5m cable is probably a lot cheaper, you would still need to add money, I'm pretty sure. ( 10m would need to be active )

Check these prices for instance

Oh I also bought THIS (the 3/4 inch x 25ft one) to sleeve them all. I used the same stuff to sleeve my Vive extension cables.

It takes some time to get everything in the sleeve, but once it's there it looks great. I've run hundreds of public demos with the Vive and the sleeve still looks new.

I managed to get this working using a 10ft and 3ft version of this cableand chaining them together.

For USB, a friend of mine recommended this cable as it worked fine for him. However, I'm needing to use the Vive link box like others suggested here to get it working, whereas my friend did not. It could be that I needed a longer cable than they did. They mentioned only needing to extend by 10ft. Could also be that my motherboard is a few years old, right when USB 3.0 was coming out.

However, since getting it setup I've finally had to plug in headphones and have discovered that the headphone port on the headset if very loose and I'm getting no left channel audio out of it. So I need to get a replacement headset. :(

The Pimax is DisplayPort, not Display Link. Display Link is a wireless standard, while DisplayPort is a cable. As for converting HDMI to DisplayPort, that is non-trivial. The common passive adapters you see only work the other way around. You'll need to buy an expensive active adapter, as many of the cheaper ones like this aren't capable of the resolution/refresh rate of the Pimax.

I’ve found this switch to work pretty well. It’s a dumb switch and just physically plugs the cables in. There isn’t any internal logic. But I haven’t tested it with a Pimax yet. I use it to switch between computers for my 4K monitor. But I’ve been able to overclock my display to 70hz so the switch doesn’t seem to care what is going through it.

is the '800 new' in Pounds? if so then that sounds like it might be a 1080 Ti, the Ti is a much better card but the price is of course higher.

if the '450 used' is also in pounds then you can get a new one for just £16 more

But sure, you can go even cheaper and buy used from a miner. I actually would bring a test bench with me if buying in person and go that route.

You'll need a USB-C to USB-A adapter (I used this one from https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01COOQIKU/) to connect up the Vive n Chill to the top USB-C port of the Pimax. I also had to clip some plastic off of at the base of the connectors to give the adapter cable enough flex to bend out the way. If you're using the 3D printed strap adapter, you can unscrew the plastic housing of the Vive n Chill's power switch to pass it through the top strap, and use some cable ties to hold the USB-A connector and Vive n Chill power switch in place.

I just bought a cable with mini do on one end and regular do on the other. Like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7RL33M/ that

I think I’m gonna just get this cable

It says “Supports 2K resolutions and below at 120 & 144 Hz”

So I assume it would be fine because the Pimax 5k Plus has two separate 1440p signals?
