Try to see if it charges your phone. Make sure you're using at least a 2A power supply my first one didn't provide power and I contacted Inateck directly and they sent me a second one for free--I didn't even have to return the old one (hell, I could have just lied but honest to god it didn't work). The OTG worked great, so I can still use it for my phone if I don't need to simultaneously charge it. So I'd try to contact them directly. I've had two and neither charge my phone or provide power to the PSC (used a 2.0A power supply). I know it has worked for plenty of people here so it leads me to believe something about their design has changed. It makes me wonder why the support person from Inateck believed it should work too. Maybe it's supposed to but they've fudged something up in their design; or maybe it actually changed considering on Amazon it says it doesn't provide power. I hadn't tested the second Inateck when I first wrote this comment; I thought I had but I just double checked now and indeed it doesn't work either.

I use the same adapter, works great. It's the stealthiest adapter, I could barely notice it with my fit drive inserted.

I've tried the octopus cable and it was putting a lot of stress on the micro USB port.

The Inateck OTG hub is nice but the power cord is very short.

With the 90° adapter I feel there is less pressure on the micro USB port, not sure why people are calling these crap. I use them for all of my mini consoles now and they all work perfectly and look great. Highly recommend if you're trying to keep everything looking looking as stock as possible.

Has the added benefit of a microSD reader which allows you to put all your games onto a card and frees up your jump drive for kernel updates when the time comes (instead of backing up and formatting every kernel update). Plug USB into PC and format into FAT32, name it SONY. Move Bleemsync files to USB. Unplug, plug into UNPLUGGED PSC controller port 2. Plug in PSC and allow it to update the console. It will backup the console details and update kernel data. Once done, unplug PSC, remove USB and plug into PC again. SAVE ALL OF THIS SOMEWHERE, MULTIPLE PLACES. Move 1 specific file over to USB, plug back into port 2 on unplugged PSC, plug in PSC, allow it to update. When it shuts down in like 60 seconds it’s all done.

The above takes all of like 10 minutes for this entire process. Then you can plug your USB into this:

It is super simple, just follow these steps.

With that adapter you can plug in any usb drive you want (even harddrives and such) and still keep both front usb ports free for playing 2 player games.

Just as a side note, I can confirm that this non-powered splitter has been working for me on my PSC for months now, with both (original, wired) controllers plugged into it. It's on the end of a 15 foot USB extension cable too since my couch is far back from my TV. I haven't done the power mod, either. My USB stick is in port 1 of the PSC and the splitter is on port 2. It's all been working great.

If I go decide to go with wireless controllers though I will consider your approach. Thanks again!

i use this cable, it seems to be quite a bit higher quality. it's also the same price as that 2-pack that everyone loves, but i figured why get two when this one looks nicer and i only have 1 psc and don't need a second cable. haven't actually been able to compare it to the 2-pack tho as i don't own those cables, but i can say for sure that mine feels hefty and nice!

I'm not sure is the snes wall adapter is USB 1.0 or 2.0 but it ran perfectly for me the first few weeks I was using it. It powered a 64GB SanDisk USB to play games off of it as well. I've since got a USB hub to cut down on my power bar being overloaded. (I also the NES classic hooked up).

I just tried to see if it would charge my phone and it does. Naturally the "quick-charge" didn't kick in, but it did start standard charging. Another way to test is to have one controller plugged into the player 1 slot & the 2nd controller plugged into the OTG cable. Just boot into stock and see if the 2nd controller is able to control the system when connected via the OTG usb slot. If not, then it's either the OTG cable - or not enough power is being supplied to the cable/system. Can you try a few different power sources to rule that out if you haven't already? Try a couple different phone chargers, the USB port on your TV if it has one, and also a couple different USB ports on your desktop/laptop. If all of those sources still fail to power the controller or charge your phone.... then it's absolutely the cables & I'd get a refund and either order the same cable I did from the link I posted above, or you can try your luck with one of these:

For the top one be sure you get the Left-Angled version. For the bottom one, Right-angled is correct. Don't know why some manufacturers label them oppositely. Shrug.

Smart move to get a powered hub. Too many people think they can plug any flash drive into the usb ports on the PSC and expect it to work, but this is simply is not true. Even a flash drive that has been working for a long time can suddenly go corrupt.

I bought this one from Tusita. It loaded my games perfectly fine and connected to WiFi with my adaptor perfectly fine. Doesn’t feel cheap either.

First off, I'm no where near an expert on soldering, but competent. I wanted to get the usb hub off of the Playstation, (it was stuck to the top with double sided tape) but I didnt feel confident enough to go poking around on the main system board. I knew the usb cable in the controller was replaceable so I decided to go there. If I goof it up, I can always buy another cable no harm done. This idea was one I originally saw years ago with people putting thumb drives inside their mice. Same concept.

First off, you have to remove the usb port. I used a pair of flush cutters to snip the port off. If you want to de-solder it, that would work just the same. Keep the leads on the top usb port as long as possible, I reattached just the 'tongue' from inside the usb port to allow for storage upgrades if I ever need to. Once the usb ports were off the hub, I cut the micro usb side of the controller cable off with enough length to reach the bottom of the controller grip. I soldered that end of the cable to the usb pads on the hub paying attention to the orientation and referencing a female usb 2.0 pinout. I separated the two usb ports with my little snips, reattaching the top port's 'tongue' to its original position. The longer leads allowed me to fold the piece backward and slide the thumb drive over it.

Now for the cable from the hub. I cut the plug off and kept the wires coming from the hub short as I could that would still allow me to work with them. Butt splicing these wires to the original controller cable for aesthetics (I like the little grey controller plug) and insulating the connections from each other left me with the last problem.

The pcb itself was small and compact, but was just shy of fitting in that sweet spot below the face buttons. Underneath where the usb ports were on the hub had no traces or circuitry that I could see. So, I clipped the corner off the board to fit snugly up against the rounded edge of the plastic supporting the controller face buttons. With a little patience, and some cable management, the wires can be routed along the inside edge of the grip, avoiding the screw hole by stacking on top of each other, and one plug to the controller board and one to the exit.

It was a neat little after work project I cooked up for myself. I wanted the hub to disappear, but was not totally confident working on the console board itself. I see this as a good compromise for someone who would rather replace one controller cable if they mess up. I tried to be descriptive as possible. I didn't take any pictures while assembling it, but its nothing too difficult.

Yes, this product is not what you are looking for. This hub has a unique feature that you can power on/off individual ports, but for PSC you need a hub that is externally powered (it comes with an adapter).

Your best bet is to get a USB 2.0 powered hub (usually with a 5V 2A adapter). USB 3.0 powered hubs can be expensive, and PSC can't utilize them fully.

BleemSync is...well, it has a couple parts. One part: Some drivers and extra programs that it installs to the internal memory of the PSC. Second part: The replacement UI that it boots, that allows you to access the extra games you loaded on your USB drive. Its main purpose is to play Playstation games with a modified version of the stock emulator (the one included in the PSC).

RetroArch is its own separate UI, set up for running games from dozens of different game systems. It's basically a frontend for a bunch of different emulators. Bleemsync and Autobleem both include Retroarch (although Bleemsync only includes the core that runs playstation games by default, I think). Retroarch has...we'll call it a "sibling" of the stock emulator available, which enables some extras like analog support.

I'm not sure what you mean. What you might have seen is an OTG cable, which allows you to connect your USB drive through the back of the system. You might want to read the stickied post if you don't know about the amperage limitations on the front USB ports, and if you haven't heard of "OTG".

Before OTG was available, a setup like this was common, and that's still what you have to do to install Bleemsync (which installs the OTG driver, when you install the custom kernel). Read the stickied post, and you'll see why that's problematic. I used mine like that for about a month and ended up corrupting my USB stick a couple times.

OTG uses a plug like this one to allow you to connect your thumb drive in line with the power cord that plugs in the back of the PSC. It requires modification of the software internally to implement though, and is apparently a feature that is in the testing phases by devs out there on several teams. It is a feature a lot of us retro gamers have been excited about for the PSC to get for quite some time. If you review posts on this sub for the past week, you will see that there has been a bunch of progress and announcements recently that this feature is coming soon.

Those are pretty slim and looking nice. Make sure to get the correct angled version.

I've had the same issue (but I'm using BleemSync). I got one of these right-angle adapters and it works with an old 8gb USB 2.0 drive, but not with my low profile Sandisk Cruzer (64gb). I even reinstalled BleemSync and the kernel. Ordered a new OTG adapter and waiting for it to arrive.

Edit: After some last-ditch efforts, I've found my OTG adapter works but your drive must be formatted to Fat32. /u/DistNZ give that a try, hopefully it works for you too (I used a program called guiformat to do so).

Edit 2: After installing all my RetroArch files (something like 40,000+ files) it is back to not working with OTG. Back to square 1.

Edit 3: It appears to be related to my power supply & cable. Specific cables and power supplies work while others don't. A 5.25V 3A power supply I use for a Raspberry Pi does not work, while an iPhone charger does.

works without hardware mod or hub. One important note: Don't push the usb device to far into the usb port of PCS otherwise auto bleem will not recognize it (not always). Just push it slightly in and it will work everytime.

Are you using one of the controller ports to run the USB drive? If so then there is a chance your data got corrupted since they is a power limiter installed on the ports. It's best to use an OTG adapter to avoid issues like this after you have bleem. An OTG adapter plugs into the rear of the PSC and allows you to connect both power and an additional USB device.

Well, I prefer Samsung over Sandisk, only because it has various protections against electrical shortage, dust, and moisture ect. Here is the one I have been using since February and it has given me excellent performance:

Once I have this then I will be certain that the power issue is solved and have extra USB slots for an 8bitdo receiver or other controllers.

I can experiment with my 4TB HD but if it absolutely must be MBR then I would only be able to use 2TB of it.

Theoretically Bleemsync should allow any file format after I have it in MBR. I think exFAT is what most recommend but I guess I will need to experiment.

Just joined this community when I bought my PSC on Prime Day and I pretty much did the same thing.

I installed the latest BleemSync kernel to enable the OTC cable, and then plugged in an AutoBleem build to play with. Still working on a good personal build, but in the mean time I have the YB build plugged in and working well.

I got a few of these samsung ones. I like them and they've worked pretty well for everything except the actual OTG install

Interesting project idea! I’m not sure you could get it down to that size without a custom PCB, but it’s definitely within the realm of possibility. You’d need a USB-A Out Breakout Board, a USB-A In Breakout Board, a small Micro SD Card Reader, a small USB Hub PCB, and a 3D printer. If you stuck to using breakout boards, you could still probably get something close to the size of an original PlayStation memory card.

USB compatibility is only a major factor if you don't do the resistor bypass mod or don't use a powered hub. If you go the powered hub route, most non-sketchy USB drives should work if they're formatted properly.

I am guessing you have Bleemsync setup. I am not quite sure since I have never tried it, but I am sure you can use this powered USB hub. Though I am not quite sure if the USB hub itself will be able to produce enough power to power 3 or 4 controllers. With controllers w/ Dualshock I am not quite sure. With games, it depends on how rare the game is. Since the console is VERY old, most games are easy to find but I am not going to give any links that I know.

Autobleem is literally copy+pasting and renaming something on the a thumb drive. It's non-invasive and basically functions out of the box for most games. So any tutorials you find for Windows should apply to the Mac as well.


You will likely have a heck of a time with getting a thumbdrive to work more than anything else. An increasing number of folks have had luck using a Micro USB OTG cable (like this). It can mitigate power draw issues, as the controller ports weren't built with data transfer in mind.

You can have OTG working as well as AutoBleem.

You need to install the initial Bleemsync 1.1 kernal update then run AutoBleem afterwards via the power port.

With the above usb hub..you can also use sd cards and eliminate a usb drive altogether. I use a micro sd card and don't have any problems with it getting hot or overheating like a usb drive.

SanDisk Cruzer USB 2.0 128GB (SDCZ36-128G-B35): needs a powered hub. Otherwise, it remains powered when plugged in, and the PSC won't read it. With a hub, it's great.

If you're going to buy something, people recommend that one. It is an OTG hub so you can connect stuff to it and try to keep the front ports clear. But sometimes there are some annoyances with doing that. I would totally keep the adapters in the front ports ... should help with the connection, too.

On The Go.

Basically, with an OTG cable that also does power, you can plug the USB drive into the rear port instead of the 2nd controller port. This has three benefits. First you can hide the flash drive in the rear of the PSC. Second you can still have a second player without needing a powered USB hub. Third the rear port doesn't limit power to the USB drive so just about any drive (including external drives and SSD's in an enclosure) will just work. You definitely want to do this very simple mod and buy an OTG cable that also does power.

That way I don’t feel like I run the risk of browning out/can play 2 players since the second port is typically used by the drive.

No that's not it. It's definitely caused by unplugging it from the PSC, I ran a multitude of tests to verify.

I get this error sometimes, but it has never caused any real issues, I just let windows do the check and it has never had any problems.

The best thing you can do is let it sit for at least 10 seconds after the orange light comes on. I don't unplug the cable, never have. Just get a hub to run in the back via the power supply, no need to mod anything. That's the one I use. Works great. I run Bleemsync on a USB through that.

Correct, a powered USB Hub should work without the physical power mod.

Most people go on to mod the system with BleemSync v1.1+ firmware, which enables the rear power port as an OTG USB port after which you can use an OTG adapter to plug the flash drive and power into the rear port, giving you full use of the two front ports.

If you have some flash drives around, particularly some older USB2.0 drives, you may be able to install the BleemSync v1.1+ firmware without needing to do the power mod or needing a powered USB hub. After that all you'll need is a OTG adapter like this one or an OTG USB hub like this one.

I am not sure but I know a USB that does work. It was actually recommended by a member on here. I purchased it and tried it. You have to format it to fat32 but it works without a powered usb hub. I suggest you spend a few dollars more and get this usb instead. It is the 128GB drive by the way.

Works flawlessly using bleemsync without a hub but keep it formatted in fat32. Mine is almost 100% full and every game is working.

I bought three of them: 1 64GB for the PS Classic, 2 16GB for the SNES Mini and NES Mini. I have Autobleem set up on the 64GB using FAT32. It didn't work with exFAT, which was previously set up for Bleemsync.

Edit: BTW, those 90 degree OTG adapters you see in my list? They are terrible. I bought the 2-in-1 OTG cable here, and they've been working perfectly.

I have one of these and use it on multiple consoles including the classic. Works flawlessly.

I had the exact same problems with that cable and my 64 GB Cruzer Blade using Bleemsync, though I thought I somehow got the wrong cable and ordered another OTG adapter that worked perfectly. If you are still having problems, I would recommend this as an alternative solution.

If you want to use the Dualshock 3 wirelessly, I would pick up a Mayflash Magic-NS.
