They do root easily but slowly. Give it time. I think it will be fine.
A rooting hormone like this can help. And if it won’t root after a few weeks you can make a new cut a bit higher up, let stem dry out a bit and then try to plant again. I bought plumeria cuttings that were just sticks with no roots. Took them awhile but they did finally root and grow.
