4. Freeze Miser - Outdoor Faucet Freeze Protection | Durable Replacement for Faucet Covers for Winter - Freeze Proof Outdoor Faucet Protector - Low Maintenance & Easy to Install - Saves Water

    Features:
  • WHILE THE USUAL winter faucet covers, fabric faucet socks, and the manual drip method can protect an outdoor faucet IF temperatures don’t drop too low, they often don’t provide enough protection to prevent pipes and faucets from freezing. Blue Penguin’s Freeze Miser PREVENTS FREEZING FROM EVER HAPPENING, no matter how cold the temperatures or for how long - made of sturdy BRASS, STAINLESS STEEL and COLD IMPACT RESISTANT POLYPROPYLENE..Simply put, it’s the solution that you can ACTUALLY count on!
  • BUT HOW DOES IT WORK? Unlike the MANUAL DRIP METHOD that requires a CONSTANT RATE of WATER DRIPPING, the engineering of the Freeze Miser releases ONLY the minimal amount of water to PREVENT your faucet from freezing. Its patented design allows it to sense the internal water temperature, ALLOWING NO WATER to drip until the water temperature drops below 37°F/3°C...and that means BETTER FAUCET FREEZE PROTECTION using the least amount of water.
  • SUPER EASY TO INSTALL - Faucet protection in just 2 SIMPLE STEPS: Hand-tighten the Freeze Miser on your exterior faucet. Open faucet all the way to ensure that water pressure is available to the Freeze Miser (Minimum 10 PSI). And that’s it – YOUR FAUCET IS PROTECTED FROM FREEZING!
  • OUR PROMISE TO YOU - We stand behind the quality of your Freeze Miser with our 2-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY, and we hope you’re happy with the product. Warrantied against all defects in materials or craftsmanship - Your Freeze Miser is proudly engineered, developed, tested, manufactured, and packaged RIGHT HERE IN THE USA!

We used this one https://www.amazon.com/RV-Tissue-Digester-19-Thetford/dp/B000GPO6FO

It took a couple of days. Be very careful when it unclogs. Almost every fulltimer has horror stories about black tanks and wearing them!

Once you’ve freed the blockage you might like to use on of the products others are suggesting for doing a clean out of any residue. I prefer the Thetford products but they’re often more expensive than competitors.

Now, about your toilet paper. Septic safe paper isn’t great in RVs but you really don’t need to buy anything special. We don’t. Like lots of others we stick with Costco’s Kirkland paper. The really important thing is to use plenty of water. Most toilet manufacturers recommend filling the toilet 2/3rds with water. This gives a bit of power to the flush. Adding a squirt of laundry fabric softener makes the sides of the pipes slippery and doesn’t usually interfere with enzymes. (FWIW we only use enzymes a couple of times a year).

As long as you use plenty of water and don’t go overboard with tp use you aren’t likely to block up. If you’re boondocking and conserving water try throwing used wet tp into a bag to dispose of later. Please flush the poop paper. Nobody wants that stuff in trash bins.

Hope this helps!

Don’t have any advice on an inspector but can lend a hand on tools. I did a bunch of projects in my travel trailer and kept an eye on which tools I was using all the time.

Eternabond Sealant tape - easier than dicor caulk and read really good things about it for sealing roof or wall leaks.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002RSIK4G?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Screwdrivers (obviously!)
number 2 square driver (most of the screws in mine are, not sure about other brands)
Socket set
Electrical tape
Electrical pieces (wirenuts, spade connectors)
Multimeter
A few shark bite plumbing fittings (coupler, cap)
A handheld saw, one that takes sawzall style blades and an assortment of blades.
Small sledge hammer, sometimes called an engineering hammer

This one may be a bit gross, but a few of the long wooden sticks like you’d use for roasting marshmallows, the thicker and longer the better. We wound up having the dreaded poo pyramid at the base of the toilet from not using enough water or too much paper. The stick was flexible enough to break things up and bend around the corner to help move things back down into the tank.

Hope that helps a little bit!

Good luck with your search

I recommend one of these!

https://www.amazon.com/Trailer-Aid-Tandem-Changing-Change-Trailers/dp/B000I4JPZE

They run about $40.00 or so, depending on the weight rating. They are ideal for dual axle trailers. No need to even fuss with a jack, even if you do have one. They never go back in the way they came out, anyway.

I watched a friend get a flat on his boat trailer. He used the trailer aid and was done in 15 minutes. I’ve used it with our TT when we got a flat. Works like a charm, super easy. Probably safer and more stable than a traditional jack.

It's great actually we both have our own routines that put us outside of the truck so we only use it for like peeing in morning and before bed. They have a really nice one I'd recommend that I want when I go big like motor home a $1000 one it's the best . I change it about once a week for free and take it to a treatment plant and get flavored tst tabs online for the smell of the toilet

We installed this screen on the outside of the screen door and it’s thin enough that it doesn’t interfere with the outer door closing. We opted for the outside because we didn’t want nails getting caught on it it they pawed at the door. Our dogs don’t test it thankfully but we feel better knowing they can’t just tear through it. Good luck!

Not sure if this is quite what you are looking for but this is some of the stuff we use. We love full time but have only moved twice. I currently have a job that I go into an office for but before that had a job where I would move every couple of months. We use glass plates to make it feel like home and we got this plate holder ( https://m2.ikea.com/us/en/p/variera-plate-holder-bamboo-00384692/ )from Ikea for all of our plates and bowls. We have the sticky mat down in the cabinet and stack the plates with a piece in between. When we moved we had no dishes break. We also use this collapsible dish dryer ( madesmart EMW6337273 Collapsible Dish Rack Grey/White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010F6H9CU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Yk40CbNCJ00Q1 )which is great cause once we are done with dishes we can have both sinks again.

Carefree of Colorado.... makes a whole setup for this, and the idea is that even in the windy situations, you don't take it down.... you support the awning from underneath with this, and then run additional awning supports up under the awning like this, then hang the room. Then stake it down, and put in a mat or carpet on the inside and tuck the loose flaps under that mat. Many people run this setup through the deepest of winters, and use it as a Wet Room coming in from the cold. Reportedly it helps the heating bills on the inside since you are insulating that portion of the RV with an additional "warm" space, using the infrared heaters inside of this as well pumps up the values and livability.

PSA #2: Get a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). They are a little pricey, but they can pay for themselves by saving you from costly repairs (or worse) due to blow outs. The RV Geeks just did a video on them. We have the same model they use and love it. However, I recommend getting the "pass-through" type, not the "anti-theft" ones. We bought the anti-theft ones and the security housing can be removed by hand, making the "special tool" for removal useless.

Thank you!

I have an oil heater (radiator) in the living room and a quartz heater in the bedroom that keep things comfy down to 30ish so far, a special heater that comes on at freezing underneath, and since water is free and electric is VERY not and heated hoses are $85 and this is $30 I got this that starts dripping water when temps get near and below freezing, I checked it at 4am when it was about 25F and it was dripping just fine:

Air out that thing.

Open all Windows and doors at least once a day for 20+ minutes to reduce the humidity.

Get a induction cooktop, instead of the Gas burner - burning with Gas produces a huge amount of water vapor.

Leave the cabinets cracked open.

Every time you use the bathroom - use the fan

- get a fan timer: https://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-FD60MWC-60-Minute-Spring-Wound-Countdown/dp/B00002NAPD

So anytime you use the bathroom - put it on 10-15 minutes.
