Note: these tips on mouse acceleration will change how your mouse will behave universally, not just in games. It will take some getting used to if you haven't done these already.
Windows Mouse Settings and Mouse Acceleration
First, make sure you go into Windows mouse settings and that "enhance pointer precision" is OFF. Also make sure that the pointer speed is set to the most middle position. This sets it so that only the raw input of the hardware(your mouse) will be used in determining your pointer speed (ie. this eliminates software influences on mouse speed with the exception of 3rd party mouse software such as Razer Synapse). With "enhance pointer precision" on, it gives you mouse acceleration which you do NOT want in any shooter game.
This video by Linus is greatly informative about mouse acceleration and applies to any PC game.
The key to having good aim in any FPS is muscle memory. With mouse acceleration on, you can't achieve proper muscle memory. Consistency with the [distance you move your mouse] vs. [distance the pointer moves on screen], REGARDLESS of the speed in which you move your mouse, is essential.
DPI and in-game Sensitivity
Secondly, your mouse itself will play a major role with aim. The best case is to use the native DPI of your mouse if you are able to switch it. You will have to research what your mouse's native DPI is. It is true that a good mouse(with a good sensor) will benefit you much more than a crappy cheap mouse. If you are interested in getting a new mouse, check out /r/MouseReview.
I come from the CSGO crowd and the consensus is to use a low DPI with low sensitivity. For example, I have a Zowie EC1-A mouse and have it set to 800 DPI. Once you have your DPI mouse settings figured out, the next part is adjusting in-game sensitivity. Again, coming from the CSGO crowd, I have retained the same principles with this next tip and it is just what I am familiar with and you might benefit from giving it a shot.
Note: for this next part, do not aim down sight.
What you'll want to do is load up a custom game and walk right up to something that gives a vertical divide, such as the corner of a room or one side of a doorway and align your crosshairs so that it lines up with that vertical divide. Look as straight ahead as possible, not down or up. Place your crosshair as accurately as you can to that edge and then trying your best not to move your crosshairs, lift your mouse to the farthest left edge of your mousepad. Once your mouse is on the far left edge of the mousepad and your crosshairs still placed on the corner of the room or edge of doorway, swipe your mouse slowly and to the right horizontally, as straight as you can until you reach that corner of the room or doorway again. If you found that you barely moved your mouse any distance at all on your mousepad, then your sensitivity is too high. If you found that you had to lift your mouse again because you cleared the entire mousepad, then your sensitivity is too low. Adjust your in-game sensitivity so that a full swipe from the left side of the mousepad to the right side of the mousepad results in a 360° rotation.
With this setting, it becomes familiar to you if you hear somebody behind you, to swipe your mouse half a mousepad distance to look at them. It also just gives you a concrete zone in which you learn to move your mouse certain distances which translates into aiming at certain positions in-game.
If you find that this is too low of a sensitivity or vice versa, keep raising it or lowering it until you feel comfortable with it. Low sensitivity is actually much more beneficial to aiming well in games, so try to keep it consistent with the principles mentioned.
I have a fairly large mousepad, a SteelSeries QcK+ and so my sensitivity will be much lower than somebody with a smaller sized mousepad.
Aim Down Sight Sensitivity
This is entirely up to your own personal preference. I prefer my ADS sensitivity to be relatively low in order to make micro adjustments easier.
Practice Practice Practice
In CSGO, there is the deathmatch game mode where most people go to practice their aim. People generally focused on one-tapping headshots and this helps a lot with aim. Unfortunately we don't have a similar game mode in Siege. However, you can try to load up terrohunt or situations and just practice and getting used to your aim. Start slow and aim slow, get used to your sensitivity first. Always make sure to properly line up your sights before firing and getting used to that, no matter how long it takes you to move your mouse to aim on target. Pick up the pace as you get more familiar. Headshots are 1 hit kills in Siege and so if you can master aiming at the head and landing those headshots then you'll go pretty far with just aim alone.
Game Sense
I know this thread is about aiming, but game sense plays a large role in how well you will become at any game. Game sense is just something that you'll have to learn through playing the game with time. You'll learn what the common tactics are, where common chokeholds are, where the popular camping spots in rooms are. Having great aim alone isn't the ultimate element to being good at a shooter if you don't know WHERE to look first.
Closing Thoughts
I know I wrote a giant wall of text, but I tried my best to explain things in detail. These were the same tips given to me when I was just a noobie starting off playing CSGO and it has changed the entire way I play games now. I used to be terrible with mouse and kb and couldn't aim well at all. But through these guiding principles, I got better, much better.
tl;dr: Make sure mouse acceleration is off. Find a comfortable mouse DPI setting and in-game sensitivity. Practice practice practice.
> Again, $250 was a very specific anecdotal example. I'm pretty sure the $250 tag is for used Xbox Ones.
On Amazon.com, a brand new Xbox One S is $249.99 USD. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-S-500GB/dp/B01MTJA6EV/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1506356455&sr=1-2&keywords=xbox%2Bone&th=1
At Best Buy, you can get one that includes a game as well for the same price: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/microsoft-xbox-one-s-500gb-madden-nfl-18-bundle-with-4k-ultra-hd-blu-ray-white/5996001.p?skuId=5996001
> Maybe at that price point it is rougher but its still probably more worth your time to save more, spend another summer working summer jobs, etc for the better experience.
Better is completely subjective. Many people prefer to game from their living room couch and the sheer performance capacity of a PC is simply not important to them (yes, you can hook a PC up to a TV in the living room, but using the mouse/keyboard to navigate the OS to get to the game would be nearly impossible and/or require a specific kind of controller that is another expense).
I deleted my comment because it came off as pretty dickish. I can tell the difference between above me and below me perfectly fine with my DT990s and audio settings set to Hi-Fi. I don't know what else to tell you other than suggesting different headphones, because they make a big difference. I'd suggest AD700x, AKG K701, or AKG K702 if you want the best sound localization you can get.
With that said, there is still room for improvement within R6's sound engine.
> You can always get creative. For the GSG-9 AM95 You could buy somthing like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019O204IW/ref=twister_B01MCZUHWB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and get some cheap ear muffs and affix them to the helmet somehow. After that just paint over it and make it look flush. you could do that for under 50 bucks.
Now that could work. Thanks!
> SAS operators are really easy to do. Most of them you can just plug and play with gear you find at military surplus and amazon.
That's the thing though, as great as they are in the game, I'm just not particularly enthusiastic about cosplaying one -- no offense, Mute cosplayer. The one really interesting one would be Sledge, since you'd need to either be bald or have a bald cap, and a prop sledgehammer.
Mute looks like he is wearing a British SAS flight suit (SAS BLACK KIT CT CRW, someone actually sold one here) and I am going off of that for finding the gloves.
It has been a little difficult finding anything close to them as the small details on his gloves (the little buckle thing at the end of the glove and his capacitive finger tips) and I'm not sure how much of those things where added for visual effect by Ubisoft.
I believe he is wearing flight crew gloves as they are too 'fabricy' for anything anti chemical like what Smoke has.
My best guess is something like these.
The best guide to any British SAS operators is this imgur album I have saved here. It may help in your search for other things such as his vest, mask, and suit.
If you happen to find what gloves Mute wears, please let me know, this question is actually asked pretty regularly but I've never seen an exact answer.Good luck mate.
Def check out the Logitech G430 Amazon BestBuy $40 right now on bestbuy.
I've had these for over 2 years and they are still the best. Pretty comfortable with glasses, not sure if you have but comfortable nonetheless. I can hear footsteps clearly on siege and even pubg.
Check out the reviews on the Amazon link.
You will generally get the best price vs performance if you build your own machine.

At the $1000 price point you will need to ask yourself: do I want to try to shoot for 144hz performance or will I be happy at 60fps?

My advice would be to get a cheap 144hz monitor and try to squeeze performance out of your machine. Here's a quick build: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/t832FT/great-amd-gaming-build

If you just want to get the most Siege performance for the money you can drop to 8gb of RAM and use the extra money to get a 144hz monitor like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XFA240-bmjdpr-Response-Technology/dp/B06ZYHZ6R6/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1542135907&sr=1-3&keywords=144hz+monitor

You will really get the most out of your investment in playing on PC if you shoot for 144 fps level performance. A 2600 with a 1070 will get you there. If you want to add a better cooler you can get good over clocking on your 2600 and video card (I would go with a decent 1070 with at least two fans). It is worth having an SSD for your OS and main games.
You're a godsend, thank you so much for the response :) I decided to look more into getting a separate headset and mic because it'll be better in the long run. And the reviews on those are pretty damn good.
Music definitely won't be an issue as I only use my PC for gaming, but I was looking at the upgraded version of the one I linked and it's $40 more but a lot better.
These: Audio Technica ATH-AD700X Audiophile Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S332TQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_5RbiAbMVA1TP6
If you can, get a pair of headphones and a separate microphone. They will blow any "premium gaming headset" out of the water. Gaming headsets are typically closed-back headsets, which limits your sound stage. You'll want a piar of open-back headphones. They also have to cram a lot more inside the headphones which typically results in something being of lower quality.
It seems you're on Xbox one, so you'll need one of the controllers with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
If you're on PS4, you can use the same items I have listed, and if you're on PC you don't need the splitter.
One of the best pair of headphones you can get is this one. The Audio Technica ATH M50x.
Then get an antilion modmic. It attaches right to your headphones with no hassle.
Then get this thing so you can use the headphones and microphone on your xbox one controller. (Yes, it works on Xbox One.)
All you have to do is plug your headphones and microphone into the splitter, and your splitter into your xbox one controller. Way better than a gaming headset, and way cheaper too.
You can even get better earpads for better comfort, if you want.
For those more budget conscious, I've found these to be very effective:
https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98
Sounds is vital in this game, and I think kudos should be given to the dev team for successfully making it an integral part of the gameplay, there's a lot of code going on there!
I have a Cloud Hyper X and it's pretty amazing and comfortable, got it refurbished on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-KHX-H3CL-WR-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00JJNQG98
It have any mouse software you can download? Try a DPI of 500 on that mouse.
Also, I forgot. large mouse pad helps immensely.
Additionally, a 144hz monitor and just good frames help. There's a few settings you can turn down to save performance, as well as making it easier to see the enemy
https://www.amazon.com/CLANCYS-Rainbow-SIEGE-Season-Online/dp/B018RGK5YY. It was only so cheap because I traded some old 360 games in, but best of luck.
Hope you included accessories in that budget. A large mouse pad, some headphones, and a good mouse all make the experience far more fun.
By any chance, may I know your specs?
For whoever is wondering, here is the link to where I purchased them: Link
Purchased from Amazon US, but they ship internationally to some countries, for example Australia.
Quality wise they seem much better than I anticipated, but to be fair I’ve only had them for about two days so time will tell. But I’ve definitely purchased much much worse quality stickers over the internet before. These ones have a thicker, almost laptop wrap vinyl feel.
You can always get creative. For the GSG-9 AM95 You could buy somthing like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019O204IW/ref=twister_B01MCZUHWB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Virtual 7.1 in headphones is more or less a scam, read more about it here.
The Cloud II is a great headset for the price, but if you live in the US then currently Amazon has the Sennheiser GAME ONE and the GAME ZERO for sale which have much better audio quality than the Cloud II's, alternatively if you have a microphone already then the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X are the same price point when they're on sale and offer a better audio quality.
[No mod necessary.] (http://www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Mouse-Adapter-Xbox-Playstation-3/dp/B00MG654FM) And I can understand the cost argument, but if you're getting into the gaming world for cost and you're buying a console + PC controller + online gaming service, you're looking at dropping around $700. It's not that much more to buy a low-end gaming PC, AFAIK.
As far as ease of use goes, I'd say the two are equal, if not more so for controllers given that they're made for one thing and one thing only, as opposed to the M&K setup, which was first designed for text editing as its main purpose. I'm assuming you're a PC player? Not being derogatory, but I'm not making it up that M&K gamers on console FPS games are viewed in the same light as hackers in the console community and I could understand how a PC player wouldn't quite understand that.
Edit: In looking at the XIM comments I saw a user that had a disability which made it unable for him to use a controller properly. When I said earlier I couldn't see a reason that a console gamer would use a M&K setup aside from getting an advantage, I didn't think about disabilities and I wanted to say that obviously this is a perfectly acceptable reason to use such a setup. But aside from being unable to play on your console otherwise, M&K users are still as scummy as scummy gets in the console world.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MCYRKY3/ref=pd_aw_fbt_23_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=R0R2XKDJ8YNF62KS0TZS This is the latest modmic but in my opinion the old one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00R98JVVU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501968207&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=modmic&dpPl=1&dpID=41JnOtLdwiL&ref=plSrch is a better deal.
Edit: these would also total to about $200 but would be superior in every way

I just got a pair of these on sale for $85. The best headphones I've used for gaming so far and I have tried MANY. From gaming headsets to high end headphones. I hear that these are also very good and a bit less.
Don't buy astros they are over rated and you need the mix amp.
https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ
These are probably the best head phones for siege. These amplify the treble more the bass and that's when you start hearing the foot steps a lot better.
The difference is the ve248hr model will have 1 m/s response time as opposed to the 2 m/s response time of the ve248h. If you want 1 m/s response time you need to spend around $150-200. This is the 24" 1 m/s response time monitor I see recommended most. This seems like a comparable offer from Acer.
Edit: For what it's worth, I use a 3 m/s response monitor and I'm plenty competitive in pretty much everything I play. Could I be slightly better? Probably, but probably not a big enough difference to stretch the bank over.

Logitech g430.
Great headset with all your essentials; 7.1 digital dolby sourround sound, a decent mic, comfy removable ear cups if you sweat a lot and its lightweight so you wont get a strain on your head if you play for extended hours.
I've had these for 6 months no issues, would recommend.

The answer is no, however, when you get the year 2 pass, you get 10% off everything in the store and a 5% renown boost. So that 25000 renown to get new operators turn into 22500 renown.
Edit: If you want the year one pass, you can get it [here:] (https://www.amazon.com/CLANCYS-Rainbow-SIEGE-Season-Online/dp/B018RGK5YY/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483573309&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=rainbow%2Bsix%2Bsiege%2Byear%2Bseason%2Bpass&th=1) However, be careful as i dont know if the year 1 pass still works.
i got this from my own post here if you need any more info
EDIT 2: PEOPLE HAVE SAID YEAR 1 DOESN'T WORK SO BE CAREFUL!!
My headphones that I use are nothing near surround sound, but I can still locate people fine now, raise the volume a bit and see if that improves.

I was on a budget when I got my current pair, and these came highly suggested from /r/headphones. I love them for gaming and listening.
This one is amazing and not too expensive. Pair it with a mod mic
My exact monitor, had it for a few months now and it's amazing.

I can also confirm it works because I bought it myself about a month ago to get the SAT gear, like you.
Edit: I'm also 99% sure this pass is for PC only.
Here is where I found the helmet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019O204IW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's very comfortable and affordable, also comes with the visor.

You get everything but the 5% permanent Renown boost and 10% store discount.
Sure you can sadly Games dont need to be optimized or anything.
Its not quite as fluid as a PC KBM, but close enough that you get a massive advantage.
I mainly am trying to get a monitor for competitive play.
Im looking for:
Panel Type: TN
Refresh: 60Hz
24'
1080 x 1920
1ms response time
i found a benq one with those specs for 170 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H5KKRLO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3LGJ9ZB5RSN9T&psc=1

My friend who does game battles for the new call of duty just ordered one. Everyone on the top leaderboard uses one since it puts them on a whole different level.
In the past I've owned these:

All of which, if the game has good sound design, will basically allow me to see through walls. A lot of it does come down to the game you're playing, and of course setting the audio up properly so it doesn't have a bunch of bullshit echo and what-not.
Us Y1 season pass holders were supposed to have a 5% PERMANENT reknown boost, but UBI has a different definition of permanent than what is in the dictionary.
All I have instead that have stuck on to my account is a gold R6 charm and a few skins.
You can still buy the season pass for year 1. Get it here on amazon while it's on sale. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018RGK5YY/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Anyone can buy it from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MG654FM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497744518&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=xim4&dpPl=1&dpID=41-pTTeo8vL&ref=plSrch

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x plus a Blue Yeti microphone on a stand.

You will have to buy it from external site other than Ubisofts as they don't sell it anymore.
It's 14,99$ on Amazon for example.
