I've recently got into crocheting because like you, I was looking for a cheap, yet fulfilling hobby. I'm not very good at it, but I've really enjoyed it so far! I looked into crochet because I wanted another thing to make sure I relax and keep my stress levels down. You can make SO MANY COOL THINGS. I don't think it used to be easy to get into, but now with all the beginners guides, sets, and video tutorials, it's much easier to try and learn.

I got this set of hooks because they are super comfortable to hold and come in a cheap kit. Starter yarn is also cheap to come by too, there are always sales bins at my local craft store. :)

I highly recommend you try it! It's a very rewarding hobby.

Hmm, yea the freelance thing does sound like fun since you get to do so many different things. It also seems like a good way to do different things and not just do the same thing day in and day out.

Thanks for the moisture suggestions!!! I just looked up The Saem Fruits Punch sleeping mask and got so excited that it's peach scented! Effectively retains moisture and smells like peaches, what could be better?

The class that I 'cracked the prof's code' in is Art Historical Methods. The readings are using really dense and theoretical, but I really enjoy that stuff. But each week I also have a mini mental crisis about art history as a discipline. This week we went over style, so my mental crisis was over the way that our very notion of group style emerges from, and is defined by, our Western experience, and that other, different concepts of style may exist cross-culturally but have not been examined. I've basically come to the conclusion that all by writing will be intrinsically subjective and biased and I just have to acknowledge that and roll with it. ;-;

Matcha definitely is an obsession.....I haven't tried the Meiji chocolate kisses with matcha, but that sounds so so so so good!!!

Here's a link to the Meiji oreo-esque cookies: https://www.amazon.com/Meiji-Matcha-Biscuits-6pieces-Japan/dp/B00HN8HP0K

And here's a link to the Dars matcha chocolates:

I've also read a bit about how matcha powder does great things for skin and you can make a homemade face mask out of it, but I have yet to try it out. I really should because I think I would love feeling a green tea monster.

Then if you guys like beef, I highly recommend getting a chuck roast and roasting it with some Lipton Recipe Secrets onion soup!

Roast Beef

Ingredients: 1 chuck or rump roast, 2lbs or so, Lipton Recipe Secrets in Onion or Beefy Onion, Garlic powder and salt and pepper (optional: veggies like carrots or turnips or mushrooms) (also optional for gravy: Kitchen Bouquet Seasoning, Better Than Bouillon Beef Base, drippings from the roast, corn starch for thickening)

  1. Line a 2 qt. square baking dish (like this one) with aluminum foil both horizontally and vertically. You will be making a pocket you close over the roast, so make sure the foil is long enough on all ends.

  2. Place the beef in the aluminum-lined dish and pour 1 packet of soup mix over it. If you are using a larger roast, use both packets. Roll the roast around to make sure it's well covered, then add garlic powder and cracked pepper and vegetables if desired. Close the aluminum foil around the roast to make a rolled-up pocket a'la papillote.

  3. Preheat the oven to broil. Once at the desired temperature, put in the roast and leave it for approx~1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours.

  4. Once cooked, take out the roast and put the meat on a cutting board or dish. Drain the drippings into a small sauce pan. Add a splash of seasoning, a teaspoon of bouillon, stir over medium heat. Once bubbling, add corn starch per directions on container.

  5. Cut, dress, and serve!

Recommendations incoming!

Oil Cleaner: Banila Clean it Zero, this is the only oil cleanser I have used that hasn't broke me out for whatever reason. Its awesome on my skin.

Sunscreen: Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel SPF 50 & PA++++ This is the only decently priced AB sunscreen I have found that is alcohol free and is PA++++. I recommend it to everyone who find the Biore (has lots of alcohol) is drying/irritating/oily.

This conditioner is sold and shipped by Amazon directly, should be good. I got my last refill on ABEX, but this is where I'd order from normally. There's a mayuko shop selling the shampoo via Prime right now, I've bought from them before. Doesn't look like they have the refills right now, just the pumps.

I actually decided to give these a try because of a camellia oil sheet mask I tried and loved, it makes my skin so soft and plump. I figured if it's good for my face, I might as well try it on my hair!

Howdy! Any of the following is up for grabs. **Won't be able to ship until May 2nd, as I'm out of town right now.**

  • Goodall Waterest First Essence
  • Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
  • It's Skin LI Effector
  • Shiseido Senka Aging Care UV Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ (opened in Dec 17)
  • Elizavecca Milky Piggy Glutinous 80\% Mask Snail Cream (opened in Dec 17)
  • Oshima Tsubaki Camellia Hair Care Oil (glass bottle)

Even though I forgot to add my username on a piece of paper, like a n00b, here's a verification pic.

I can decant into 1oz glass droppers, but if you'd like the full-size you're welcome to it. (If you want something large, I'd appreciate help with shipping because I have yet to start bleeding silver dollars, but no hate if you can't!)

I posted this in the thread about lip stains earlier, but I'm looking for an AB lip color. Which had some great suggestions btw. My lips are typically on the dry side and even if I use a sugar scrub and use a moisturizing lip balm I have a problem with lipsticks going on smoothly.

I was just wondering if anyone tried the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar specifically the #4 Milk Bluring. I'm trying to see if it's worth the price. I've seen a lot of good swatches but it's hard to tell how the application is.

I use a layering method and start with The Body Shop Tea Tree toner personally, non AB product that I found myself going back to again and again while I ventured through finding my routine. Tea tree oil is one of my favorite ingredients that helps keep my skin feeling fresh and aid in any hormonal breakout. I follow it up with Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist. A cult fave for AB is Klairs Supple Toner, Kikumasamune sake high moist lotion, and Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid.

Word from the old and practiced though? BUY SAMPLES before you spring for a full sized. u/gothickornchic sells a plethora of decants to sample before you commit to a full sized. It takes 2-3 weeks to see if your skin is going to respond well to a product, and it's awful to buy a full sized and find out that it's a dud, or worse, breaks you out.

It's super fun to buy new stuff but it eventually bites you in the ass. I used to just slather stuff on my face and wish myself luck. It back fired horribly on me back in May and I'm JUST now coming around to clear skin again. Now I test half my face for a week for a break out then another week to really see results.
