Ahhh yes, self-care. I do love this topic!! It's something that I've been exploring in depth, due to my long-standing coping tactics being, well, pretty flawed (e.g. binge eating, binge drinking, excessive sleeping, etc.)

A few things that really make me feel good:

  • Going to the rink on open skate night! I love to rollerblade anywhere, but being indoors and gliding along the smooth floor is just extra soothing!

  • Baking for others. I actually have a hefty salt tooth as opposed to sweet tooth, so I can bake to my heart's content without temptation (usually). It's a really soothing process and then I have the joy of sharing the outcome!!

  • Making/sending cards, of course! The process of making cards can be so soothing and just...all encompassing. I can become immersed in card making and really lose track of time! Which has a downside during the semester, which explains why I've been sending out more pre-fab cards as of late...!

  • When I'm in super duper, extra crunch time at work, or stuck working a shift in the department I don't like, or put on a task with a difficult coworker, I like to put on some nice soothing instrumental music like this!

  • I always fall back on some stand-by favorite movies, which drives my bf NUTS because he can barely handle watching the same movie twice in a year, let alone basically on repeat...I mean, I would liken my obsession with these movies to the relationship between a 5 y.o. girl and Frozen. They are: American Beauty, Big Fish, Frida, The Birdcage, and Harold and Maude. And of course, The Simpsons plays practically a daily role in my life.

  • I have a million bazillion candles and I always have one to light for whatever mood I'm in!

  • This year I used my tax refund to buy a PAPASAN CHAIR which I LOVE and adore lounging in it and listening to the rain fall or just taking a little nap :)

  • And finally, I LOVE a night of pampering that includes a steamy hot shower, hair treatment (coconut oil + rosemary essential oil), Eucalyptus Spearmint [EVERYTHING](http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=4304518&cm_mmc=Google-_-Paid%2520Search-_-none_none-_-bath%2520and%2520body%2520works%2520eucalyptus%2520spearmint_b&adpos=1t1&creative=109385158813&device=c&matchtype=b&network=g&gclid=CJ3R6rOfis8CFQymaQodhugMNQ (body wash, exfoliating scrub, lotion, etc), and completed with my favorite peel off mask, and my favorite PJs+cozy socks.

) I'm gonna have to make some self-care time tonight now :)

Ok - There are so many ways you could go here! Links as examples only. You can get this stuff anywhere.

To decorate cards/ envelopes she has purchased, your best bet is WASHI TAPE. Washi tape is a paper tape that is removable but also sticks really well. It's relatively affordable and comes in tons of different designs. A large number of people active on this sub have an unhealthy beautiful obsession with washi tape. Themed sticker sets like this or this are also great to add decor to cards. You can always find something in her style.

If you want to start her off on making her own cards, you can still start with washi and stickers. You can also add in some blank cards that she can use as a base (Not this set though, it's too pricey for what you get) or maybe some patterned paper or heavy cardstock.

Hope that helps start you off right! Always happy to answer any questions :)

I don’t know if your in the US but Micheal’s, Tuesday Morning & places like that have a selection of paper pads with either plain colored paper or paper with a design on it. You can also get stickers and washi tape but it’s not cheap but it’s generally good quality. If you go to Micheal’s, go to their website to download a coupon which they always have to save money. Tuesday Morning is much more reasonably priced but at mine the selection is small but I know others have a better selection. They also have washi tape and a few stickers. I also get paper off Amazon that’s really pretty but it’s not cheap either but I’ll link anyway so you can see. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07G61CGXN/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Another place for supplies like stickers and washi tape is AliExpress, as long as you don’t mind waiting about a month for your stuff because most of it is coming from China or the region. Make sure to read the description’s so you know what your getting for the cheap price because it might not be much or it could be a good deal. I’ve run into both, the one for not reading the description when I first started shopping on the site/app.

I haven’t been but other people on this sub have had luck at Hobby Lobby, Dollar Store, and Dollar General. There just not by me. Hope this helps a bit.

I'm glad you like the washi. Im happy to trade samples any time since I have too many! I usually get my washi tape as a set off amazon (although its a little pricey) and Mercari :) the brand off Amazon is from "infeel.me". You can buy the tapes individually off of aliexpress. I don't know how to rename links 😅but I think this is what I used on your envelope.

Here is a link to the Mercari seller I buy from. She's lovely and usually ships the same day. She has a great selection of really unique washi! All my favorite washi tape are from her shop.

Welcome. I'll warn you now, this is a very addictive sub you are getting yourself into. You start out by requesting a card or two, then decide to send a few. Your cards start pilling up, incoming piles and outgoing. Free time is spent organizing . You get some cards with cool stickers and washi tape decorating them and decide you should buy some. Now you have an entire desk dedicated to hand made cards. You think you can break free by getting out of the house to your favorite coffee shop. They sell postcards there and you think to yourself " u/sosococomomo would love that".

I love this and am attempting to do the same, but I have no motivation right now. Anyway, I like my floor fan a lot. It's one of my favorite purchases ever.

I can come up with something different if that's too hard/weird. Stay safe!

Thank you so much :D Not sure if I do anything special. I find I have to use a tea candle and not put the spoon directly in the flame. If I do anything else it melts funny. Also I wait till the wax slightly steams with a little bit of bubbles. The wax I first used wasn't that great but I've had luck with the link below. Hope that helps!

I am glad that my words were able to lift you up, I use Sakura Band Gelly Roll pens. I probably used the stardust pen (did it have glitter in it?) I had bought the 74 pack which has a lot of different pens in it (Here is the link if you want to look into them: https://www.amazon.com/Sakura-Gelly-Roll-Pens-Gift/dp/B00K3KRQYU )
