Pirates of the Caribbean Liar’s Dice I’ve played this game at a friend’s house and it’s great fun because you have to trick the other person into thinking you’re telling the truth or not. I’d love to do this over voice chat with a “Yes” or “No” option to see if it’s a Lie or not.

>Or for another example I couldn't get into Skyrim and barely managed to play enough to beat the main storyline. Does that mean the game isn't worth 60 bucks?

Skyrim costs $22.95 if SoT costs $30 no one would be complaining.

>My point was all games aren't for all people.

My point is that no one is arguing that all games should be for all people and thus your statement is irrelevant to the discussion being had.

>Off topic- Why so angry? What compelled you to come at me with such vitriol? Seriously man it's a game. Take a breath.

Always strikes me as weird when people post things like this - I'm not mad or angry in the least - what would give you that idea? The use of bold? It's literally the addition of two asterisks on either side of your typing... I assure you, I'm not mad, and there's no vitriol in my post (so sensitive, geeze...)

I think it's pretty clear you'd enjoy the game regardless if they charged $150 or $10. Good for you. I think this sub, and the general reception of the game (a simple google search will show you) have shown that Rare has made some serious design and business mistakes.

If people like you want to continue to support that, go for it, who am I to tell you what to do with your money? Where I feel you miss the mark is not accepting that you are in the vast minority in feeling this way, and that if you continue to be such a minority of the market, the game you cherish will surely go the way of Lawbreakers, Battleborn, or D2.

I suggest you take a step back and reassess how much you are concerned about the perceived anger of other posters and focus on what can and should be done to fix the game you and others so vehemently defend.

According to this website: http://www.concertina.com/calculator/ one pence would have been worth £1.64 and one shilling £19.73 in the year 2000. Adjusting for inflation to 2018, that's approximately £2.71 and £32.55, respectively. In 2018 USD, that's $3.61 and $44.12, also respectively.

That makes a pig in 1879 South England worth about £8.13/$10.83 in today's money. Using user SargeantJinto's spreadsheet, a pink bristled pig from a MA voyage can be sold for, on average, 188 gold.

Now I think it's fair to assume that the Sea of Thieves, while clearly fictitious, is meant to take place in a sort of fantasy Caribbean setting, so we have to factor in that the Merchant Alliance is taking the pigs we give them back across the Atlantic and selling them in Fantasy England for the above prices. Digging around on wikipedia led me to a book called "The First Modern Economy: Success, Failure, and Perseverance of the Dutch Economy, 1500-1815" by Jan de Vries, and Ad van der Woude, in which they state that, for a variety of reasons, the East India Trading Company's margins were actually pretty low on some things like spices (p. 441) even though they were stilling making huge profits by virtue of the sheer volume they were dealing in (I'm not an economist, correct me if I misunderstand this). Granted, this is a different time period, and the EITC was declining in 1879, but the Merchant Alliance seems to be based on the EITC, and business is business, so I think we can fairly compare the two.

So with if the MA is pulling a profit of, say 5% on a pink bristled pig, that means they're spending about £7.74 (in 2018 BPs) just to move the pig from the Sea of Thieves to Fantasy England. That cost includes buying it from the pirate, and I'm going to guess that that's the more expensive component, since the merchants are dealing in (presumably) very large volumes. So let's say 70%? That means they're buying it from the pirate for about £5.42. So if 188 gold is worth £5.42, then one gold coin is approximately £0.029 ($0.039) in modern currency.

Another thing to note: sugar is also on this list, and a "puncheon" sells for two shillings. That's 8 times the price of a pig. What's a puncheon? Apparently it's a unit of volume, approximately 11.24 cubic feet. That could definitely fit inside of a box with dimensions 1.5 x 2 x 3.67 feet-- reasonably comparable to the crates of sugar we find in the Sea of Thieves. This means one thing...

The Merchant Alliance is doing us dirty on those sugar crates my dudes.

Thats due to cyptominers at this current time. Prices fluctuate dramatically when it comes to GPUs right now. Like this one was $611.00 earlier today... Now its low is $817.00.

Best things to do is keep an eye on the sites that I provided and have money on hand when the prices are in your favor.

Go grab this headset. $8.25 on Amazon. You don't have to chat if you don't want but being able to when necessary is a huge game changer.

Then search Xbox LFG til you see something that strikes your fancy. Send a request to join. Say hi when invited to the party then you'll more than likely be invited to the game. I for one don't like playing with someone who doesn't have a mic. I don't mind if you stay quiet while we're goofing off but being able to say "exploder skelly behind you" is a real help.

I had gotten fed up with the load times on my OneX. Decided to purchase this SanDisk SSD, and this USB 3.0 enclosure. Just put SSD inside the enclosure, then when you plug it into the Xbox it'll ask you to format the drive for games. I moved SoT over and have loved the amazing load times.

I agree. But it's dumb for the game to purposely give players the upper hand just because they choose to play with an inferior input method.

I'm glad this game is play anyway for the sake that it will exponentially increase the amount of time the servers are populated, but I don't feel bad about controllers being mechanically worse. People have known this for years. The developers got this game to run on essentially a pile of garbage. Pick up a $250 laptop, and have at it. Enjoy that mechanical advantage.

Or get this right here.

I don't have a pirate joke, but I saw you said that you have a young daughter and I wanted to share one of my favourite childhood books: Pie Rats Ahoy by Richard Scarry.

Thanks OP!!

If you can get it in your state/country, Ron Diplomatico is awesome. The "reserva" is cheaper, but is a mixed version of the original. Both are still very tasty. I find it all over the South, but here is a UK Amazon link..

I highly recommend getting this Dell monitor if you're looking for something cheaper and that'll utilize your gpu to the fullest. /r/buildapcsales posts this on sale pretty frequently, and can easily be picked up for $350. I have one and I have absolutely no issues with quality or screen tearing on any game

I'm using these devices to do it as well so it's not exactly the same as what I'm describing in the first place but it's much easier to explain with the keyboard.

Seems it can be etched using a cream. Amazon sells a kit for fairly cheap. Would be a neat hobby to get into!

There was a post about a DIY set for a hurdy gurdy a while back that plays better than you would expect from a version that costs 5% of the normal price for one.

I suggest using a NVMe SSD. Switching to that has dramatically changed how fast I load in starting the game, swapping servers and black screens load times. Now if you are talking about arena load times such as the long wait to get into a match, the set up below can't fix that.

This is the set up I went to with my Xbox One X if anyone is interested:

I bought some lore books on amazon a while back, I forget the names off the top of my head.

But they talked about the three main fractions.

book 1

book 2

art book ‘soft/ implied lore but nothing fancy’

I don’t own this, looks like a comic
