I like that they encouraged gender switching and then stated that it must be kid-friendly. The fangirl conundrum!

I am curious about what will get published. As an aside, the Sherlock Holmes western has already been written. Holmes on the Range, more of a homage, but still pretty awesome.

Don't bother sleeping! I've been engrossed in the Sherlock universe since I first watched the series and read the books in 2014. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as well as Moffat and Gatiss saved my life. Have fun with the series and appreciate the intricacy of it all. Here's another peculiarity that might pique your interest.

That is a very nice edition. Excellent binding and cover art.

I would also recommend Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Illustrated Stories from 1986. It has all the short stories and novels as well as the illustrations and some of the fancy fonts for the story titles.

They have been really good with Doctor Who. Dr. Who shows up on Amazon in the US at 2am the night after it airs in the UK, so you can watch it starting early Sunday for the current season. Did you know that? I'm going to assume no since you didn't realize UK stuff shows up in the US, and that you never looked because you simply pirate it. Pirating removed any need for you to find completely acceptable and accessible alternatives.

I honestly don't remember What happened with Sherlock. But the first comment on Amazon was shortly after it first aired at least[, and amazon doesn't tend to list digital shows until they're actually available]

Towards your second point. It is harmful when you are preventing yourself from say buying it on Amazon early. The legal alternatives are wait or pay for it, and apparently you don't want to wait, so just pay for it now. Don't get it now illegally then pay the discounted rate later.

That's true. And I do have a nice collection of the stories from another publisher.

But I've seen these versions dominating the shelves and it really just strikes me as very classless - using the stories as merchandising for the show and plastering Cumberbatch and Freeman on the cover, even though the images do not really fit the content or the settings of the books they're on.

On the opposite end of this, Disney republished the original John Cater of Mars stories in 3 big volumes. These books are also mostly in the public domain (besides 1 or 2). The editions they put out weren't plastered with the movie poster or Taylor Kitsch - just a few small drawings that actually reflected what was in the books.

I think that's the right way to go about it. And over here, those books were very hard to find in bookshops so it was really welcome.

Here's an Amazon link.

At first I thought OP wrote the book, now I see OP owns the book. Thanks for sharing.

Now that I've had a chance to look at it on my computer I looked at the books.

  1. Sees a book by a Lavinía Smith.
  2. Google can't find them or the book but Lavinia Smith top results lead to a virologist on Doctor Who.
  3. Confirmed! Mary is actually River Song and her baby is a Time Lord. Well played Moffit.
  4. (That was me joking.)
  5. Next to it is: Systema Naturae 250 - The Linnaean Ark
  6. I'm bored. Someone else do the rest.

As referred to, there's an excellent BBC radio dramatization of a lot of the original stories...nicely done. Right now BBC seems to re-arrange all the rights for their audio books once again, so it might take some digging to be able to buy them, but your library might have them all...mine sure does. Here's a link to one of them, but it's one in about 8 different 6 CD collections...

THIS is kind of a classic on the topic, for a good reason :) It won't exactly turn you into Sherl 2.0, but... It will teach you to read many signals people give away without even realizing it.

There's always the limited edition gift set for the new series if she doesn't have it already.

One book I like in particular is The Illustrated Sherlock Holmes, which has the stories that were published in The Strand (including Hound of the Baskervilles) and the Paget illustrations that accompanied those stories.

I was gifted a Sherlock mug that changes when it got hot and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever gotten.

>every episode has its own.

It is supposed to be just two discs (you can see a track listing in Amazon UK), the third one there being the Abominable Bride Special.

Has anyone else tried the game 221B Baker Street? Some one gave it to me years ago and whenever my family gets together we play. It's a blast!
