Hey, 1500+ hours in-game. I've played a thousand hours with a cheap $30 headset from Amazon, both with surround sound on and off. I've also played with Audio Technica M50x's and several other mid-range headphones. Currently I play with a set of semi-open back headphones.

Some tips:

  1. Whether or not you should use surround sound depends on the specific option you're using. My headphone's built-in "surround sound" sucked. Razer Surround software was OK but I didn't like it. I now play with semi-open back headphones with no surround sound.

  2. I've tried all the game's audio settings for long periods of time each, and I honestly don't notice a big difference between them. I personally use Hi-Fi but I've been good with all of them.

  3. You won't be able to soundwhore without having it at high volume. Perceived volume is different for everyone, but in general I have the volume just a little under where I feel it's "too loud". If I had it any higher then a lot of gunfire might hurt my ears. When I watch videos of people playing, I watch with the volume lower and I can't hear the footsteps and sounds they can hear. Loud volume is more important than any setting.

  4. KingGeorge plays with a simple pair of earbuds. It really doesn't matter what you use. It's all preference.

Those are my soundwhoring tips. My current setup is a pair of AKG M220 semi-open back headphones and the Creative SoundBlaster Omni amp. I always play with Windows volume at 50 and in-game master volume at 80. Pretty loud, but it gets the job done and I don't find it uncomfortable unless it's for very long periods of time (5+ hours).

Probably in the minority here, but sometime back I needed a better pair of headphones than my cheap China ones for R6, and also for casual music listening. Did a lot of research because I wanted the best bang for my buck (can't bear to spend too much on material items), and I settled for this Samson SR850 pair.

Its not too expensive, and the reviews are stellar, comparable with headphones of a much higher price bracket. I haven't had the chance to try out the much more expensive headphones, but so far for R6, sometimes when spectating a friend who I know is using HyperX Cloud, I am able to pinpoint sound more accurately than he could.

Awesome thank you! I'm going to be getting this mousepad (17.72 W x 15.75 H) is that big enough? Also, I don't think the link you added works properly. Would love to read that post.

Thanks again!

Best way is to purchase the latest installment of COD here

Amazon has good prices and free shipping for qualifying orders over $35 and COD is the place to go if you want a good KD.

When you get tired of that and want to focus on the objective, play Siege.

Simple answer is, use whatever you feel like is going to be comfortable, I don't know if he still uses these but Beaulo uses these earbuds and KingGeorge uses samsung earbuds that comes with a samsung phone.

One of the biggest misconceptions in gaming is that you need a good headset in order to play shooters in general competitively, the only must for an audio peripheral to have is that it has to be at least be on a stereo channel. Especially with how sound is designed in siege, theirs some advantages in having either a surround sound over a stereo headset but its not a night and day difference.

Make sure it has a microphone or you at least have a separate microphone

A lot of pros use earbuds because when they are at LAN, they were noise cancelling headphones with earbuds under them in order to silence out the crowd, they wear them while streaming to get used to them.

Viewsonic makes nice, affordable monitors.

You'll probably be happy with it.

You have the option of going for the XG2702 too, which is exactly the same as the XG2402, but 27" inches and about $50 more. 27" is pretty large though, so you have to make sure you have the desk space for it.

While aim training and developing muscle memory is important for most people, you have a unique problem. Before dedicating a lot of time to aim practice I would try to minimize the shakiness in your hand first.

What is your sens and how large is your mousepad? You want your sens to be as low as possible while still being able to make a 180* turn with one sweep across the mousepad. Any of these should be fine.

Lowering your sens will also minimize the shakiness in your hand. Maybe you could also look into larger mouses or ones with specialized surfaces. If you walked into microcenter or some PC store and explained your problem I'm sure they would let you test out a bunch of different mice. Don't settle for equipment that doesn't do the job!

Something else that might help minimize your condition is playing with your wrist on a soft raised surface. I used to play a lot of Osu! and would get some shakiness in my hand. When I placed my wrist on the long one from this it helped to minimize that. Its squishy and that helped to cushion some of that.

As for practicing your aim it's limited in siege. Thunt is good for learning recoil but I prefer to practice my raw aim in CSGO aim training maps like aimbotz.

Oh yeah dude, you're playing below 1080p which makes long distance firefights not so great for you. This is what I play on at the moment

ASUS VG245HE 24" Full HD 1080p 1ms Dual HDMI Eye Care Console Gaming Monitor with FreeSync/Adaptive Sync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074FKB5WD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5aqPCbP464CVG

This is 180. Not sure what your budget is but I've greatly enjoyed this one. Theres a 144hz version for 200ish if you have the performance to do so.

Hey, Thanks for the suggestion. Are you talking about this one: https://www.amazon.in/Razer-RZ01-02010100-R3A1-Death-Adder-Gaming/dp/B01LXC1QL0/ref=sr_1_1 ?

First of all, the feature that the other commenter is referring to is probably Discord's attenuation feature, which lets you turn down the volume of other applications on the system while you are speaking. That may work for you, but it's not the same as monitoring.

Second, as you noted, Windows' builtin monitoring feature has enough latency that it's essentially useless. If you don't already own a headset that supports monitoring, then the only way to do this properly is with an audio interface (for example; there are probably cheaper ones that would work, I just don't know a good one off the top of my head). They can do monitoring without latency because they send the sound directly back to your headphones, without doing a round trip through the computer.

I have one of these on my Sennheiser headphones that didn't have a mic.

These games are designed with standard stereo in mind. These gaming headsets with 7.1 are 100% faking directional audio to get the effect of real 7.1 surround. E.x if someone is to your left, the headphones make your right ear hear the footstep less than a millisecond after your left ear to fake a surround sound. Real 7.1 Surround has 7 individual speakers and simply use volume not delays to get a convoicing surround effect.

I always recommend studio headphones with a flat frequency response in order to hear the game as intended, and not be inhibited by fake surround sound or super bass heavy headphones that muddy up the small details in the game audio

Here you go bud. Should fix your problem.

Depends what you want from sound. For 20-30 I would go for:

Superlux HD668bs -

Incredible value sounding very similar to Beyerdynamic DT 990s (£120ish), these headphones have a very large soundstage (good for shooters to gauge distance), great detail. Downsides are the plastic feels a bit weak, but it's no worse than what you would find on a gaming headset.

I've used these frequently over two years and highly attest to their quality. Open back so sound leaks out (preferred).

£30 on Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Studio-Headphones/Superlux-HD668B-Headphones-Black/B003JOETX8

EDIT - I was gonna suggest the Takstar Pro 80s (the headphone Hyper X Cloud II is based off) as they used to be around £25. However, they seem to be completely unavailable. If you can find them, they're a solid choice. They are closed back, but preferred if you game in a very loud environment.

Hey guys, quick tech question. Would you think that this Aspire E laptop would be able to run rainbow 6 on lowest settings? It has a 940MX graphic card
