I think that was a paraphrase, but the quotes they do attribute to Thune are really in line with that philosophy. This is, BTW, contrary to what I understand is the best guidance from the medical community and from drug researchers.

Start here. The Spearfish Public Library has this book.

Don't miss The Moonshine Gulch Saloon in Rochford (about an hour from Spearfish into the Hills), which is in the book as haunted. It's family friendly, and Betsy makes the best bacon cheeseburgers ever. On Sundays 3-7 a bunch of locals provide live entertainment. IMHO it's one of the best things to do in the Hills. It's definitely not a touristy place, and it's not "upscale", but I love it. I'm there nearly every Sunday.
