oh boy, is this going to be a fanboy rant? I'm a recovering iPhone fanboy myself, I promise I'm not being sanctimonious.

> resolution as the only nitpick and [7nm, great performance SoC, etc]

that's great, it's super fast, that's true and idc since Apple has made fast SoCs for a long time now- the screen is a nonstarter kind of like putting an outdated Honda VTEC engine (B18c) in a Ferrari would just be absurd; sure it's a great engine but it's completely outclassed and undervalue for a high end hyper/super car. 750p wide at $750 is a ripoff, this isn't a spec where you can make tradeoffs for other features as many people do for speaker quality or NFC support- it's literally the thing you look at all of the time.

>worth more mid tier android devices

Maybe, but it's deficit in one huge area is a nonstarter if you're objective. Give it the identical spec under a different brand, what price point would it sell at? I actually want to know.

> 3 GB RAM

the $235 Moto G6 has a nice 16:9 1080p screen, 3GB of RAM, and a SoC that moves things smoothly --not flagship territory like high end Apple, but still nice enough to not be a factor. My point is that the RAM doesn't factor for me but I'm glad Apple dropped the whole '1GB is enough for a phone' bs.

> cameras

Great, it's got flagship cameras. So do lots of other flagship phones at the same price points and better screens.

>64gb, which you cant find easily in mid tier devices without installing a SD card. Even it may only take up to 32 - 64gb

Not really sure where to start on this one... Again, I'll lean on the Moto G6 which has a 4/64 GB version for $300... and a 1080p wide screen. The $235 version starts at 3/32GB as mentioned. Lots of devices will say that you can only add 32-64 SD cards but take 256 just fine... I've done it, it's a patent thing.

>While the screen is LCD and not OLED, 828p and not 1080p, it’s still gonna have a very sharp picture and look amazing.

I like the X's screen and past iPhone screens have looked nice, if a bit saturated like Samsung's. It won't be as sharp as my 2013 Nexus 5's 1080p screen (X notwithstanding). The biggest area where this comes into play is video streaming and picture viewing... I can tell the difference between 1080 and 1440p on my Z2 Force, going from 1080 to 720p is far more jarring- that's not a ~$700 class experience.

> gpu that breaks a sweat when you pull up your dial pad and also the glass is the least durable of all phones

lol, nah. I'm a PCMR kinda guy, I'd agree if that were remotely true. All of the phones I've mentioned have Corning Gorilla Glass except for my Z2 Force, because... Force. If they didn't, I think I'd be okay with buying the tempered glass screen protector like I would anyway if I had literally any phone... Everyone should have a tempered glass screen protector.

---

tldr: the screen is more than enough to be a deal killer when you've got phones for the same money that are as good or better on every feature for the same money... don't pay the Apple tax and be a sucker.

Ah I see like Samsung Experience UI. Very interesting so there is a native Android interface without a wrapper. I was about to look up main reasons for the One Edition price difference and I'm sure that is it. So the version I got will have Motorola's skin I guess. Yes Pie is exciting. I know Microsoft launcher is doing the gestures but I'm not interested in aftermarket launcher.

One button looks like it will be good to use and from the photos it looks like X4 still has the navigation buttons on screen taking up space? Can they be turned on and off? This user did a good job comparing and showing the two. I know that is more the normal size now but just too big to me and many sources no say the build quality does not compare. Only thing I'd like is wireless charging. This is Android One if it worked with Sprint I'd get it in a second.

Looking forward to that "sterling blue" color which I guess the One all came in. Getting hopes up which means I'm guaranteeing myself activation problems.

As for the Moto G devices:

Currently you can get the Moto G4 Play for $129 from Amazon. Amazon is nice since you can return it if you have issues.

The Moto G4 I recommend because it's unlocked. If you ever leave Sprint, you can use it on Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile as well. It's also a world phone, so you can use Sprint's free GSM global roaming. As mentioned above, the G4 is a newer phone that supports all 3 Sprint LTE bands (850, 1900, 2500). Only negative is it is very much a budget device, so the camera is okay (probably as good as your old Galaxy S3) and it has a 720p screen (again the GS3 has a 720p as well).

If you're a power user there's the Moto G4 Plus which has a better camera, 1080p screen, and fingerprint reader:

https://www.amazon.com/Moto-XT1644-Storage-Unlocked-Warranty/dp/B01DZJFWNC/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1488084319&sr=1-3&keywords=Moto%2BG%2Bplus&th=1

However, I'd wait on the Plus. Like I said, the Moto G5 comes out next week and the G4 devices may drop in price.

Thanks. At the time I preordered my Note, there was no option to include a Sprint SIM card like it is now. I'm just glad I thought to ask before the phone arrived.

After reading the advice provided here, I ordered this SIM kit from Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07SWDX7BF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MDZwDbN9H3FJV

I'm pretty confident that the SIM I need is included.

Search for outdoor weatherproof enclosure on Amazon, I was considering something like this (link) sometime ago, but never bought it.

My brother built me a waterproof box out of a plastic container for our T-Mobile cell phone repeater since we put it outside sometimes, but it's not for leaving out in like a torrential downpour, but for everyday weather it works great.

Just wanted to update.

I've looked at a ton of different retailers and reviews and I think i've decided to go with the LG G5 from Amazon here \> https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01MA4YEAR/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

For anywhere between $80-$100 for a used phone it seems liek a decent price for a device that was `~$700 new.

Thanks for your help everyone! Not ordering just yet though so if anyone has more suggestions i'd be happy to hear em!

Churn can be manipulated in the short term by opening the tap on winback credits and other loyalty credits such as handset-related subsidies. The only number that speaks the truth about customer experience is net promoter score, which is why this metric is a big part of Sprint's management compensation criteria. Watch it and you'll know what Sprint's REAL underlying performance is.

Even though it was through Wirefly in all likely hood you were signing a two-year contract with Sprint as well. Never used Wirefly, but I'll use Amazon as an example as it's likely similar.

$100 cheaper than through Sprint, how?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&pop-up=1&nodeId=201085350

So, essentially they are taking out what they would have gotten for commission in order for you to buy the cheaper phone which is why you end up with a Sprint contract and a 3rd party return policy!

I got this case but it looks like it’s out of stock. I prefer slimmer cases with a clear back so I can still see the phone itself.

u/A-Train250 · 1 pointr/Sprint

This is the phone that I am looking to buy, says its sprint compatible in the description.

https://www.amazon.com/Moto-PLUS-5th-Generation-Exclusive/dp/B0785NN142

As for the leasing of my phone... I got it as part of the free sprint upgrade like 3 or 4 years ago? I shouldnt have to owe anything on that correct?

u/IceManYurt · 2 pointsr/Sprint

Here you go:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076HXHN2N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I tried activating myself via the online portal, but it kept kicking out the SIM card as invalid ICC ID, but the online chat got me up and running in less the 5 minutes per phone.

I also found the screen protector Google sells really messes with the proximity sensor (to the point we couldn't get our screens to turn on during phone calls), so we bough much cheaper off of Amazon as well

Spigen Slim Armor along with a random tempered glass screen protector from Amazon.

Not the prettiest case, but I do like the kickstand.

u/revik2 · 3 pointsr/Sprint

The Moto G without lockscreen ads from Amazon is 200 bucks. (Activate via BYOP)

https://www.amazon.com/Moto-4th-Gen-Unlocked-Black/dp/B01DZJFSZ4/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1478138681&sr=1-4&keywords=moto+g

That is one option however I would recommend you do your research and see if it meets your requirements.

But also remember it is November so holiday sales and Black Friday is coming so who knows what they might have on sale.
