There are a few versions out there. Mine is the Tokyo Marui AEG (Airsoft Electric Gun). Extremely reliable, durable, accurate and pretty close replica as well for a decent price. I got these a few years back for a Jack costume. They're pretty decent but I turned out to need prescription sunglasses so they're just on the shelf now. Good for fishing on occasion though.

Sure - but just a warning - the Offworld jacket is the most expensive part of the outfit. It's a USMC WEP style jacket, which is typically a Nylon shell and goes for $200+. On the show, however, they used a RipStop material, which isn't as shiny. If you don't care about that, you can save yourself about $100.

Thought the 6th book was the final one: "sixth and concluding installment of the STARGATE ATLANTIS Legacy series"? Or is this continuing the canon of the series into new directions?

Pretty sure a Director's Commentary track mentioned that they simply used projectors ( they also ended up using projectors to rear project the event horizon in many episodes to cut back on CGI costs ).

However, I don't recall if they went into the technical details of whether they used actual projectors with video, or existing (stage) projection lights and messing about with a refractive element in front to get a play of light effect (similar to this ), or what..

Looks great, if you want to complete and accessorize, you could get the following; P90 Airsoft Rifle, SG1 Patch, a shave and haircut if you want to be military, or just a shave for Daniel Jackson, and you probably don't need the P90 ether if you do early Jackson.

Firing drones

This assumes that firing drones is not power intensive. If you think of drones as missiles that would be right, yet I think drones are different

Missiles are self propelled, which means they carry their own power source. I think drones are not.

The only evidence for this that I can think of is that every time a chair or jumper is disconnected or destroyed drones become inert immediately. This could be a safety feature to avoid collateral damage but at the same time they seem to have a limited level of artificial intelligence so, wouldn't it be more efficient to leave them on to do some damage to the enemy?

After all the only two advanced species were the Lanteans and the Wraith, the risk of collateral damage is minimal. However the risk of stolen technology is not, and a drone is a weapon deployed in swarms of thousands at a time, the possibility of one being disabled is not insignificant and if that were to happen you would possibly be leaving a valuable piece of tech ready to be studied by your enemy

No, I think the Alterra (and Lanteans) powered the drones wirelessly from the origin of the strike, possibly using subspace

Puddle Jumper vs Chair

The difference in power requirements here could come from the fact that the puddle jumper needs to power 6 drones at limited range while the the Chair controls thousands at planetary ranges

I don't agree the technology is similar, or at least, just saying that seems reductive, in the puddle jumper the interface only really works in taking directions from the pilot to the jumper, this could be accomplished by the pilot actively thinking of itself as the ship, less processing needed probably, so less power used. Moreover I don't think the flow from the jumper back to the brain is very significant. The processing needed to adapt the signals and transmit them could be very energy intensive, and the jumper only needs to apply said transformation to barely a dozen sensors. Atlantis has potentially millions of them

And other than that the chair interface seems much more sophisticated, fully bidirectional and much more immersive than the jumper's, it's controls finer (Rodney could program while in it and the gel pads seems to work as some sort of adaptable input device)

Holograms

Well, not much to be said here, the chairs have a built in holographic projector which appears to be pretty energy intensive (see the educational hologram in atlantis) while the equivalent in the jumper appears like someone used a projector on the glass, like this

Conclusions

In short I think we have to differentiate the chair and the systems it's connected to, it's power hungry when used to fire drones not because it's power hungry by itself, but because it is powering the drones too at distances of thousands of kilometers.

The chair in itself could probably work, in energy saving mode, with a couple earth naquadah generators, but it would be useless as it doesn't allow to do anything fundamentally impossible from the consoles in atlantis at a cheaper energy price. It is still however much more taxing than the jumpers' interfaces as it controls a lot more parts more precisely
