Welcome! I open all my steels simply they look to good to be covered by j.cards and stickers from the retailers. Also digital codes and the discs are inside and most movies I have steelbooks of I enjoy watching again. Very few of mine are still wrapped.

I put mine in plastic sleeves/bags (very cheap but definitely not most elegant option) I got on amazon but am currently looking in hard plastic options. retro protection seems to have some good ones.

If you buy multiple editions of the same title it’s gonna come down to how much you like the different editions and what your wallet says. I for example thinking about getting another blade runner 2049 just bc of the design and also replaced my kingsman steelbook for a newly released design and sold my previous one.

When you start looking at premium retailers (like manta labs or blu fans) you should check if it’s a WEA (world exclusive art - only available from one retailer) or WWA (world wide art - available from multiple retailers). They usually release 3 or 4 versions that mainly differ by the (Lenticular)slipcover and which format is inside (4K/2D/3D/digital). They also release a “1-click” that’s all versions of one release combined. So most often 3/4 times the same steelbook with 3 different slipcovers (of course there are always exceptions). The best chance to get one of those premium releases is through group buys in various forums (here on reddit, highdefninja, mediapsychos,...).

I was debating whether to get these or not but I ultimately decided to get them, they are amazing and look great on the shelf. Honestly, S6 is the hardest to find, but other than that these 2 links should help, I'd strongly recommend getting them!

Thanks! The Fog, Prince of Darkness, Escape From New York & They Live i got from Amazon France. Comes in a 4 pack, cost me around $93, so $23.25 a steelbook. Discs labels are in french and the Blu-rays are region B, but the movies look great in 4k! Steelbooks are really nice, especially The Fog. Christine is still available on Best Buy's website for $24. If you're going to seriously collect steelbooks you'll want a region free player. Most new releases from abroad won't have accurate region info before release and you run the risk of them selling out during pre-order.

Just log in with your username and password from your US account and follow the checkout instructions once you've made your selections. You'll need to create a new account for amazon.co.jp but all the other ones will work. Most sites for steelbooks ship internationally. You can also join group buys on HiDefNinja for anything that you can't find shipped to the US. Every thread in the steelbook forum will have a purchase link to the site or the group buy.

These cases are loose enough that you can easily store the J-card or backer card with the steelbook, without any hassle. I have found this case to be the most convenient option. This slipcover is closed at all sides and fully prevents scrathes.

Magnetic knife strips like you'd find at a kitchen/restaurant supply store. You can mount these to a wall and your steelbooks will stick to them easily. They come in varrying lengths and styles... You can even get some that are made from wood.

Also, regardless of what sytem you use, order some clear steelbook protective covers. magnets will hold through them easily, but will also prevent the mounts from scratching the shit out of the steelbooks. (this is a good idea anyway, even if you shelve them, so they dont get scratched)

Amazon UK listing has it including a gold coin, a metal hotel lobby card, and a slipcase. I actually don't remember that version including the coin but just the metal card? Guess they added it or I forgot! They also like to point out that the gold coin isn't made from gold haha.

It's actually from Amazon Germany and it's only like $9 looks pretty nice.

using this i have been cutting it in 5 x 4.75 squares and you can get 55 out of each roll that way. i also feel like you could get away with making them smaller. I however personally feel that they are going to be more secure the way i did it.

Measuring out spacing on the wall was the hardest part. I'm able to mount almost 100 steelbooks for about $35.

That's how I got mine. It shipped well protected but will take about 2-3 weeks.

I use Malko protectors from Amazon. 10 for $12. Fully inclosed with tabs. Cases have protective peel plastic as well. If you don't like the tab, it can be snipped off and be used as a closed flip case.

Edit: I think its worth mentioning that you can buy all these steelbooks individually because they already released and sold out a while ago from zavvi. They seem to be the exact same as these except They Live is actually titled They Live instead of Invasion Los Angeles and The Fog is Actually titled The Fog instead of just Fog.
