Ok first off hi! I'm beatlemnkyhuman a.k.a Jesus nice to meet you.
You don't need a stick
It's a luxury. Sticks are pricey and custom sticks can get really pricey. I've heard of players buying sticks and never using them so some buy them just for the swag but it is no longer needed.
Luffy won evo and went pro with a ps1 pad and he still uses a ps1 pad.
Punk went pro on pad, nuckledu is pro on pad coolkid plays pad.
you no longer need a stick
A stick will not make you better.
Contrary to popular belief a stick is not magic.
You will still have to work. In my personal experience, it took me 3 months or so to get over pad and get used to stick. If you did not grow up with a stick then there's no reason.
Next thing, if you did grow up with a stick then your memory maybe rose tinted in that your remembering being better then you ever were. Sticks take work just like pad.
If after all this you still want a stick:
I recommend focus attack for custom art work and big e customs for custom designs as that's what I use
[the te2 is the pro standard. Amazing stick, easy to mod. Sanwa buttons and sanwa stick.] (https://www.amazon.com/Fighter-FightStick-PlayStation4-PlayStation3-playstation-4/dp/B018AW405K/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1543512575&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=madcatz+te2%2B&dpPl=1&dpID=41vrhKHqO9L&ref=plSrch)
some players prefer the hori rap4 with hori parts. It's cheaper so the stick is a little more loose. Hori parts fully and difficult to mod
the qanba drone is seen as a cheap alternative. Sanwa buttons i think and if not it can be modded easily. Known to not last
The qanba dragon is a monster of a stick that goes for 300 and the obsidian goes for 200.
EDIT: The razr panthera is a pro favorite as well, impossible to mod the artwork but an amazing stick for 200
If you want to go custom from the ground up then you can do allfightsticks. Com which will give you a sleek heavy steel frame or marvelous customs.
Each of those custom sticks will run you 300 plus.
You can even go wood frame which may be even more expensive.
Good luck.
So I'm not sure why, but the Soul Calibur stick is 93 bucks right now. It's a pretty good stick.
As far as I know, it's completely identical to this stick. I've got this one and it's pretty good. Hori's Hayabusa stuff isn't generally the first choice, but it's definitely good enough.
For the record, you can change the artwork if you really want to. It's a bit time consuming, but an easy DIY project. This is mine. The hardest part is really just removing the old artwork as it's bonded to the metal. After that it's pretty basic.
Cool concept, but I would rather not bloat the game or take up dev time with this sort of thing. Udon has done a really good job building out Street Fighter lore and art with their books. And they actually created a book titled "Street Fighter World Warrior Encyclopedia" dedicated to character profiles. Or if you want digital/free there's always the Street Fighter wiki which the community does a great job of keeping current.
there's no such thing as a "beginner" stick. you just need to get one that uses decent parts like sanwa. unfortunately that means you will have to spend more but I recommend Hori
if you're really strapped for cash try this stick and then mod it later with sanwa parts
also playing on pad is perfectly viable, even more so for SFV. so don't feel like you need to get one unless you have aspirations to go to japan one day and play against the arcade heads
Good point, It's a Madcatz 6 button stick. Looks exactly like this one but has 6 buttons and 2 black caps over the last two buttons. Almost as if you can actually install buttons there but like the post says, Im not sure and im pretty new to fighter sticks in general.

I'm currently gaming on a 17" LG Zenith monitor from like 2005 with horrid input lag and was needing to upgrade my monitor quite soon. I've found these two monitors on the cheap but wasn't quite sure which one would be better and was hoping maybe someone here has experience with either one.
Monitor 1: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008DWITHI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Monitor 2: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IKDFL4O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_11&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I really only play Street Fighter, Hearthstone and RPG games so no FPS's, so no need for a 144hz monitor.
Heres some controllers I recommend:
Sticks:
http://www.amazon.com/Fighter-FightStick-PlayStation4-PlayStation3-playstation-4/dp/B018HXA6H8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457406271&sr=8-1&keywords=fightstick+alpha
This one is cheaper, compact, and uses all the best arcade parts. You will have to use joytokey to map the inputs on PC however.
http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-PlayStation-4/dp/B00SULMRI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457405970&sr=8-1&keywords=hori+rap
This one is really solid and i'm a fan of hori buttons/sticks
Pad:
I'm not knowledgeable on pads, but these ones are talked about the most to me:
http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Fighting-Commander-Controller-PlayStation-4/dp/B00TKLFES8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1457406362&sr=8-2&keywords=hori+fighting+commander

As for tips, theres a bunch of neat videos hidden online:

I've got the RAP4 Kai and have absolutely fallen in love with it. This is everything I wanted in a stick after coming from a modded venom:
https://www.amazon.ca/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-PlayStation/dp/B00SULMRI4/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1468836167&sr=8-4-fkmr0&keywords=venom+fightstick
It's 180 CDN apparently. The RAP V Kai is a tenner more. Difference is in the placement of the stick vs the buttons and nothing more afaik.
https://www.amazon.ca/Arcade-Style-Fighting-Officially-Licensed-Microsoft/dp/B0136JP894/ref=sr_1_11?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1468836259&sr=1-11
EDIT: I use this on PC. If you get the PS4/3 RAP 4 you just have to install x360ce in the SFV folder. It'll detect the thing without issue and you can use it from there. No hassle really. I modded mine with sanwa buttons because I got used to them and the stick but I quite like the Kuro buttons and Hayabusa lever that come with it. The stick is actually surprisingly responsive ... might actually put it back in now that I think about it. Only reason to take the Kuro buttons out is that they're loud and I've gotten used to silent ones. If you're using non-silenced buttons atm they'll be the exact same.
I agree. The Thing with a joystick is that you want it to have some weight so it doesn't move on your legs as much when you ma... strategically input something very fast.
You could modify a wooden box or build one yourself. If you glue a rubber mat under it wont move as much.
If you dont want to solder im sure there are encoders being sold for your console that have screw-in cable connections.
If you want to go super low budget you get something like this
I was recently looking for my first fight stick and, like you, was looking for something more affordable. After doing some research I finally settled on the Qanba Carbon. It's right at $60, and I've been really impressed with it so far. Now granted I haven't played on any other fight stick than this, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it's been great so far. Also, it's important to note that this isn't a universal stick, but it works for ps3, pc, and android.
Quick info:
The deluxe edition costs $77 and will include:
A non-deluxe edition will cost $37.35 and is due on the 7th of November. Its description says:
"Undisputed Street Fighter™ features in-depth interviews and exclusive, behind-the-scenes looks into the making of the Street Fighter games, and the iconic art, design, and imagery from across the Street Fighter universe."
edit: stuff.
Lmfao "Daigo fucking Umehara gave money away so Ricki Ortiz should too" - literally eat shit with that. Embarrassingly naive. This has got to be the most dishonest attempt at a comparison I've ever read on this website.
Daigo can comfortably afford acts of philanthropy and benefits from them because not only is he a celebrity in a way that Ricki is not (or any other fgc player who isn't Daigo), Daigo is his own brand. He does lectures, media events, he makes passive income as an author and even has manga written about him. It was beyond generous of him to give that money away, and is also indicative that he is living very comfortably. A child would understand that.
On top of that Daigo has earned more than twice as much as Ricki in lifetime tournament winnings alone, on top of being sponsored by Madcatz - and meanwhile Ricki probably isn't even getting paid a salary by EG.
Maybe you should send his agent an email and see how much Daigo charges to do a lecture at an event for your college?
I can't wait to hear your response about how Ricki got interviewed by a magazine or something. You are far beyond even attempting to be honest making a comparison like that - Daigo Umehara can afford to give away money so Ricki Ortiz should too lmfao. Holy shit.
Can't find the hardware thread so
First off lemme say that no one I know is dropping $120+ on something for little ol' me.
But if someone will spend a little less and then I can plunk some better buttons in there, that sounds great to me. I'm looking at these 4 options right now:
https://www.amazon.com/Qanba-Controller-Fight-Stick-Drone-PS4/dp/B01I0GEDEY/
https://www.amazon.com/Carbon-PlayStation-Android-X-Input-D-Input-Joystick/dp/B01HSQE7IY/
https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Arcade-Fightstick-Joystick-F300/dp/B019MFPLC0/
https://www.amazon.com/Qanba-Q1-PS3-Joystick-Fightstick/dp/B00BXPIO1S/
Doesn anyone have any experience with these out of the box and after modding? Any issues? I will also be using this to play GG and possibly BB if that makes any difference.
It should be:
paperwhite version
Full Color
paperback not yet available but should be once approved by createspace. I'm guessing definitely by next week but it could be as fast as 3 days from now.
Heads up if you plan on putting a Sanwa joystick into the Mayflash, you have to order this cable!
https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-2-54mm-Pitch-Female-Adapter/dp/B00W948IDG/
Sanwa does not give you this cable with the joystick, and it's necessary to plug the stick into the Mayflash board. This is actually nice since instead of having to solder the four direction trigger wires or plug individual wires into the pcb like in other sticks, all you and I have to do is plug one end of this cable into the stick, and the other into the board. Done and done!
Do any of you guys used the HORI VX-SA Kai as it came out of the box, square gate and all? I had a really cheap 6 button HORI stick as my entry one when I first started using them on 360, then got this one almost immediately after it came out and haven't felt a need to upgrade. I'm considering swapping the buttons out for all black ones but have never even opened it up: I assume it's not hard and hopefully there's no soldering to do.
I see a lot of the fashion flare super sweg m8 ultra TES style w/e sticks and custom art ones... but I'm just a casual over here.
Can I reccomend this? https://www.amazon.com/Undisputed-Street-Fighter-Anniversary-Retrospective/dp/1524104663/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535760729&sr=8-1&keywords=street+fighter+book
it's really great, goes into the history of Street Fighter and covers SFV a bit also
Back to the original point....
The stick can be used on PC fine but you will need to use a 3rd party app like X360CE to map the buttons, alternatively if you are going to just use it on PC, you can buy any xbox 360 stick and it will work out the box.
The problem with the small ones is because they are so light they can just move around and dont give an acurate experience of the full size ones.
If you can stretch to it this Razer Atrox is a bargain at $80.00 as it comes with full sanwa parts the same as the TE2 sticks by Madcatz
That's rough. The e-Book is available from the Amazon US store. You may be able to make an amazon account on it (assuming you use amazon.de), and then read the book through a kindle reader. (PC kindle reader is free and not bad to use).

you can buy this and use your keyboard https://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-KeyMander-Keyboard-Adapter-GE1337P/dp/B00GBK434M
or buy a mixbox https://www.mixboxarcade.com/
or buy a second hand joystick
the cheapest i would go for a joystick is this https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-PlayStation-4/dp/B00SULMRI4/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=rap%2B4%2Bjoystick&qid=1572109846&sr=8-1&th=1
Hey man, awesome work! Would you be willing to make a Balrog color 1 for this stick?
The best and cheapest solution is a Dualshock 4 controller, give it a try i personally went from fightsticks back to controllers. If you really wanna get into fightsticks then choose one of these:
whats making you come from pad to stick?
The Hori rap4 is an great choice, the sony venom is good but you may want to mod it a little, some places have been having razor atroxes for sales for around 80-90 and u can buy a converter for 40
Regarding option 3 they are compatible with PS4/PC. I have one and like it a lot. Available on Amazon as well.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017QORK7I
My buddy has this one and won't shut up about how great it is.
They also have one for xbox
It will still be an issue more or less. Firstly lets clear some things up...
Input lag = the delay between hitting the button and the game engine registering your input. This is primarily determined by framerate. In any game locked to 60fps (i.e. most arcade fighters including SFV) you will always experience a max potential input lag of 16.67 milliseconds. You can't do anything about this, the only solution is a higher framerate but that is not possible with fighters.
Display lag = the delay between your hardware sending new frames to your display, and your display actually SHOWING those frames (lighting up pixels, etc).
The above can be further compounded by vertical synchronization (v-sync) which makes your hardware hold frames in a "buffer" until the display is ready to show them. By default this is always enabled on PS4 to minimize tearing, at the cost of even more display lag. On PC v-sync should be turned off immediately in settings.
In brief - regardless of whether you're playing on PS4 or PC, if you're serious about playing any game and minimizing display lag then buy a typical 1ms GTG gaming monitor like BenQ GL2460HM or Asus VN247H-P.
If you want to stick to a TV, then make sure you're using the "game mode" (even though it still doesn't come close to a monitor).
It's not a RAP V Kai(B0136JP894) XB360/XB1 as you list.
The actual one he uses
The distance between the stick and the buttons is a tad bit shorter, has a different PCB, has a touchpad, and uses the Eagle buttons rather than the older Kuro buttons(the newer RAP4 Kai models for ps3/ps4 use the Eagles as well).
Also, you should note in your OP that you are doing this to push amazon affiliate links. This is a for profit endeavour.
hello. I will be getting SF V for PC and based on what you're saying, I should not buy this stick, because it's for PS3:
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0166QDR5G/ref=s9_wsim_gw_p63_d3_i1?ie=UTF8&colid=3GSWPD2TMK5D2&coliid=I1WPN44RUIKLR9&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=01NRGWKZ84MW9FAPH824&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2055621862&pf_rd_i=desktop
However there is one comment who seems to suggest that this stick works PC "without the need of motionjoy, better ds3, or any other driver software." However from reading the comments, I'm afraid now. Any thoughts? And what stick that's similar to this one which works reliably for SF V on PC?
If he'd be into this sort of thing, Dynamic Custom Beadworks does a lot of SF stuff.
https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCBPerlerSprites
I got this SF encyclopedia/ artbook for Christmas and I'm quite fond of it.
http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter-Warrior-Encyclopedia-Hardcover/dp/1927925304
Anyone know if this one is any good?
http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Arcade-Pro-V-Fighting-Stick-Windows/dp/B0136JP894/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1458139023&sr=8-4&keywords=Madcatz+Fightstick+Pro
Second on the Fighting Commander! If you're playing on PC, I recommend the PS4 one over the XBone one. The XBone controller is technically more customizable, but it's also a bigger pain, and the PS4 commander will just do what you need. It's also a great pad for emulators, platformers, and anything else that just needs a d-pad and some face buttons.

Highly recommend either of these sticks, if you're willing to spend the $$ for it. They make swapping parts and customizing very simple. A 5 year old can mod these sticks, if you're into that sort of thing.
hit me up on steam ^^^^or ^^^^not ^^^^:(
I got this. Is that good?
I'm on PC and I use the Hori RAP V Hayabusa and it has settings for both PS4 and PC built in. If you plan to go to tournaments I recommend it.

That's the page where i bought it, but i know amazon is regional.
Thanks for the info! Would https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Atrox-Arcade-Stick-Xbox-360/dp/B00DHF3NS6 be decent? Sadly I live in a pretty small community and I doubt there's much of an FGC presence.
Honestly that stick is no good I would say upgrade to a new one the parts are terrible and not worth using to build another one. Amazon has a hori rap 4 for $100 right now
https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-Soul-Calibur/dp/B01A8L6O0U/ref=as_li_ss_tl?crid=39A3RWQGPUKJY&keywords=hori+soul+calibur+vi+arcade+stick&qid=1573195822&sprefix=hori+arcade+stick+soul+,aps,192&sr=8-1&linkCode=sl1&tag=madlittlepixe-20&linkId=9fce844644d3d42d1c5084ee621fe99f&language=en_US
I bought a used Madcatz SFIV stick on eBay. It works OK -- I've since bought a second used one and between the two have one that works.
However, not too long ago, Amazon had the Atrox Razer for Xbox 360/PC for just $89.
I've found that my Atrox arcade stick is leaps and bounds a far better product than the Madcatz ones. The Madcatz one just feels cheap: the buttons, the stick, event the base, it just feels cheap.
Compared to the Madcatz, the Atrox is heavier, on all accounts. It's much bigger, the buttons are heavier, and have more push in their depression (albeit much more sensitive than the Madcatz). Just my experience, but I'm always looking for deals on the Atrox to pick up another one.
Why you think fightstick is going to make you better? I went through the same thing when i was silver and it didn't make a difference at all. Wasted 2 months until i felt comfortable with it and then switched to Dualshock 4 witch im using till today.
Anyway i would suggest this https://www.amazon.com/Obsidian-Joystick-PlayStation-Fighting-Officially-4/dp/B01N9JMYPX
Also if you're only playing on PC you probably can't get a better price than this for a premium stick (no, the issues with PS4 prototypes didn't suddenly make this stick bad):

For PS4 users looking for a higher quality stick but can spend more there is the HORI and for PC and much cheaper is the razer atrox.

Sorry I linked the ps4 not 360.. here you go
Are you sure? Some people are saying that even the 360 version has a problem: RT and LT buttons don't work. I think that means right trigger and left trigger, so PPP and KKK.

No there's an adapter
It's incredibly sad that the majority view from the 5 comments already posted is that Capcom will not add include PS3 arcade stick support for SFV's PS4 release.
However, it's not sad because Capcom aren't taking a consumer-friendly step in order to allow for a greater amount of potential players on the PS4. It doesn't bother me that the driver to enable this capability is being offered for completely free by Lab Zero (though of course you can never ignore the time it takes to implement it), and has already been used by no less than Capcom's own USFIV. Funny, isn't it - the port job (outsourced) was initially so buggy that it couldn't be used in EVO 2015 as planned... but out of that trainwreck one of the few things that worked was the driver. Maybe it isn't that hard to implement? Who knows - Capcom certainly doesn't (or if they do, they're not telling us for absolutely no reason).
Disregard all of that. What really bothers me is that despite all of this anti-consumer tight-lippedness on the behalf of Capcom, is that people are going out of their way to accommodate them! "Hey guys, do you know where I can get a Hori Pro 4 Kai / MadCatz TE2 for cheap? How is the lag on these converters? Will they be allowed in tournaments? I've got to be ready for Street Fighter V!" What the fuck? Seriously? You're going to drop $60 ^^or ^^your ^^regional ^^equivalent on their game, and then anywhere from
$50$35 to TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY FUCKING US DOLLARS on top of that because some schmucks at Capcom thought your old stick wasn't good enough? Not only have a huge amount of Street Fighter players collectively spread their buttcheeks for Capcom, but they've gone and bought the lube as well. Good work. I kind of get why they thought they could get away with on-disc DLC with SFxT.

At least SFV won't have Focus Attacks, right guys? Right?!?!
