Throwing out another option for you.

Seeing a lot of double-din and single-din suggestions. Why not both?

In my old truck I wanted a backup cam, but only had a single-din space to work with. Got a pop-up screen head unit and never looked back.

Benefits: You get the single-din storage space that appeals to some, plus you get the same 6.5-7" double-din screen size. On top of that, almost every pop-up unit will have a single-din setup, buttons and lcd display, but also the full-touch screen. Also, if you don't need/want the screen up for a moment, there's a button to reinsert the screen.

I went cheap af and got this BOSS unit, https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJ1KBEW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it actually turned out a hell of a lot nicer than I truly expected. It ended up adding watts to each speaker, so sounded louder, and with some eq tweaking, sounded better.

All-in-all, I think this option might be your best overall winner.

Heck, you can even find pop-up CP/AA units out there, like this one; https://smile.amazon.com/Jensen-VX4014-7-Inch-CarPlay-Receiver/dp/B07FMDXZBK/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?keywords=pop+up+carplay&qid=1569631957&s=electronics&sr=1-1-fkmr1

I think you are looking for fitted covers, but from I have seen, any that look half decent will cost several hundred dollars, but still won't trick anyone into thinking they belong there...
I recently purchased this and I love it. The fit is better on the forester than some other covers like it, and it really doesn't look bad, just looks very utilitarian. Easy access to seatbelt and LATCH anchors.

Here is a link to a nice little color pop. The orange matches perfectly and I think Subaru should have included it in the sport package. Nice looking and enjoy the ride.

I hadn't even looked at OEM but everyone seems to recommend them! This is very helpful in my decision. Thank you. Is this basically what you have?

I got cargoLocs for $46 two years ago for our crosstrek and recently put them on our 19 Forester, great bars for the price. I coated mine with spray on bed liner and they have held up perfectly! They have held plenty of gear, logs, boxes, kayaks, people lol...here's the link:

Next up, chrome surrounding grille. I'm trying to decide between vinyl wrap (nice and cheap) or that all black Fozzy grille I've been seeing on eBay for $199.

I tried painting it first. Looked okay, but not that smooth. I tried applying clear gloss and I guess the paint wasn't dry enough because everything cracked and looked like crap. So I sanded everything off, tried painting once more. It still looked like crap so I sanded everything off again. Many lessons were learned, lots of wasted effort was put forth.

Took about 3 tries per bezel to get it on smoothly. Easiest way was to make sure I had vinyl smoothly attached to surrounding of bezel, then I used a hair dryer to get it hot enough to stretch. I kept pushing the vinyl in the middle until I had enough slack to wrap stuff tight on the inside, then I focused on the outer edge, which was much easier. Cutting a small hole in the middle after some stretching helped, too.

Other hardest part was separating the damn chrome pieces from the black bezel part. Those two pieces are really stuck together. Hard not to break the stupid little tabs.

I'm much happier. The chrome down there was kind of bugging me.

I would get a dash cam for starters. I personally like to keep my interior clean, aside from audio upgrade in the future, I only have all weather floor mats, collapsible cargo storage & cargo net for the trunk. However, I'm planning to do a lot on the exterior since I plan to do a lot of camping & off roading.

Yes. that is the correct bulb size for that location:

I've seen the location called something different, depending on "the website" you are on. I had cheaper LED bulbs in for years (one burnt out) and I just replaced mine a couple of weeks ago with these and they look great (IMO): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NQK5VGH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/BrianLipke · 3 pointsr/SubaruForester

Hey! I'm the owner of the Forester and the bulbs are LED from Opt 7 6000k. I absolutely love them, but are a bit more expensive at $70.

They're great for how I use them. They are shorter in length so there is a little loss in range. They aren't bass heavy, mostly mid and upper. That's perfect for me since I have a sub to do the heavy lifting.

Full disclosure, I also have an amp in my deck that makes them louder than stock.

I bought this mattress for my 19' Sport and it fits perfectly. Comes with a car adapter for the air pump as well.

Learn about Rule of Thirds and read this book: https://www.amazon.com/How-Create-Stunning-Digital-Photography-ebook/dp/B006KY2VZ2

You're not going to become the best from it, but it will make you understand how to make photos that are more interesting.

These are the cross beams:

CargoLoc 2-Piece 52" Aluminum... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GA2HKAU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It’s an inexpensive set up, but I’m honestly very satisfied with the build quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive cross country with this set up.

BIG fan of these. Inexpensive, discrete and functional. Stable. Two in my Forester, two in my Focus and had one in my F150. (Apparently I only like cars that begin with 'F')

Quick Fists. They come in a variety of sizes. Pretty cheap too! Hold up well.

Dog Car Seat Cover Hammock Style... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FXG65ZO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Fits my car really well and the black is nice. 2019 Foz with black interior.

Subaru stock rustproofing is great. No need to mess with it. Had a 2009 before this no garage in ME with lots of salted highway miles. Never had a rust issue on any component.

u/supervinci · 1 pointr/SubaruForester

I bought [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0757BZYCD/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for my 2009 and couldn't be happier. They installed in about 5 minutes - slightly tight fit but no issues. And no ballast required. The alignment seems fine but I confess I didn't do a before/after check. Highly recommend these lights - like night and...

I grabbed the Brightlines off Amazon when they were on sale for $70 a few months ago. They look identical to the OEM Aero bars, and even with the moonroof open, I honestly can't tell an audible difference between having them mounted or not.

u/asque2000 · 2 pointsr/SubaruForester

I got the cheapo Motor Trend ones off of amazon. They're cheaply made and the back strap broke already on mine, but a few minutes stitching it back up it works fine. I like that they're waterproof so if I spill a drink or am all sweaty when I get in my car it won't seep into the fabric. They're not the best, and they're a little baggy on the Forester seats, but they work fine.

Cheap, effective, and the quickfists have a hole in them to use a lock (I use a cable lock as used often on snowboards)

There are a couple great videos on YouTube that show the crossbars you will need and how to install a cargo basket (not a box, but same idea applies).

Video 2 - Cargo Basket Installation

u/sam_rowlands · 1 pointr/SubaruForester

I got a cheapo one from the local hardware store, just a couple of bucks, the main part is inserted into the air vents and second part is a simple metal disc that I inserted between the phone and case. I've had it a couple of years, it's small and neat and works really well IMHO.

Edit: looks very similar to this, but is unbranded and the mount part is adjustable.

Not sure about the ski carrier, but I've been eyeing these aftermarket OEM clone crossbars on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N3446NC

They are a bit cheaper than the buying from the dealer, and look to be identical.

Rola makes a decent one that won't break the bank. I ran one until I could do a "better" rack that really wasn't any better. It comes disassembled and you have to put together. The only thing you'll want to do is seal the joints with silicone as you assemble, keeps it from getting water inside.
