I was gonna sit back and just read this stuff like a some sort of normie reddit spy-master. I used ADK from here > https://www.amazon.com/NatureGenx-D-K-Structure-Physician-Formulated/dp/B076CRH6G6/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia?keywords=adk+vitamin&pd_rd_i=B076CRH6G6&pd_rd_r=a66e9d77-1637-4298-9df1-d5d6f03a00f9&pd_rd_w=IXaXP&pd_rd_wg=1qak9&pf_rd_p=1cb3f32a-ccfd-479b-8a13-b22f56c942c6&pf_rd_r=AVDZJ7BNQKK42X8BNMZA&psc=1&qid=1574390663&s=instant-video

This one \^ does me very well because my body can tolerate MK7 very well but NOT the MK4. You want to get all three fat-soluble vitamins if you can in one pill like an ADK supplement. Here is one with all of the forms of K2, but it is expensive and has Mk4, it's from a company called Bulletproof, they sell some really high quality supplements but they are usually super expensive. Here is their 'ADK' - https://shop.bulletproof.com/products/vitamins-a-d-k-30-count

Fish Oil from Bulletproof.com, may be the best Fish Oil supplement I've ever seen! It has Krill Oil with Fish Oil and other good stuff like lots of astaxanthin, and GLA. https://shop.bulletproof.com/products/omega-krill-complex-120-ct

- Omega 3's usually don't really go well with me, but I do like to use them sometimes just to see how I react for fun almost like doing a drug. It really surprises me to hear anyone on this site say that they, ''really didn't notice a difference'', for me it is always makes me feel like I'm melting on a snow-cone from low-blood pressure, but everyone is different. I also find that most people who can tolerate omega3's quite well already have a good amount of weight on their body, whereas I only weigh around 145lbs and I'm 19 years old with an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. You can never go wrong with Vitamin ADK, and some good old magnesium. Here what everyone should consider supplementing and they can see what works for them. This is a list with a lot of vitamins, but always remember that you are your own human and you know what works or what you have to be careful with - https://www.bulletproof.com/supplements/dietary-supplements/optimize-your-supplements/

Thanks for your reply!

  • based on your advice, I think I'll go with NAC 2400mg. I'm already limiting carbos and trying to use some good fats, I think that the next obvious step is indeed ketogenic diet. Do you think that I can take NAC with a probiotic and bacopa (or another adaptogen, maybe rhodiola) at the same time? Do you supplement vit. C and zinc as well? I've still to understand if zinc is suited for autoimmune diseases

  • speaking about probiotics, can you advise any brand? I've seen some good review about Garden of Life (https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Probiotics-Ultimate-billion/dp/B00ASZ2QVS) but maybe 100 billion are too much for starting... just wondering

  • for increasing GABA, do you have any experience with taurine? I've seen that it has many benefits, e.g. preserve testosterone and ease the absorption of magnesium and vit D.
About ashwagandha, I've tried and got some benefits in terms of focus, motivation and endurance. Too bad I've got pimples from it, I think it could be related to raise in testosterone

  • I have lichen planopilaris on scalp, causing frequent inflammation, itching and dry skin. I've been diagnosed only recently, initially doc was thinking it was psoriasis... so far I've been on Clobesol with mild benefits. I have another check in December, in the meantime I've started looking for natural remedies in order to:

    • a) improve dry scalp/skin and itching: topical vit E oil or coconut oil do provide some relief. Now I've started searching for supplements which help "from the inside" with moisturization. In that regard I've started supplementing fish oil and I'm considering MSM, don't know if it is enough... I wanted to try with oral vit. E, but literature about it is mixed and I'm concerned about boosting my immune system too much

    • b) balancing the immune system response: this is a very interesting topic and literature is wide. Medicinal mushrooms (e.g. reishi, turkey tail) are often advised. I'd like to experiment also with other stuff such as astragalus, chlorella, tinospora and epicor - heard good reviews here and on Longecity. These should also address hay fever issues. Do you have any experience with natural immune modulators?

I dunno if heat would affect those things, but pretty sure that will ruin the taste of your coffee. Citrulline malate doesn't taste bad on its own, but it's super tart/acidic. I wouldn't want that in my coffee. The other ingredients will probably just taste like powders, which don't taste good. I do a custom PWO like this and it usually tastes like ass, but citrulline malate helps mask the taste because it tastes like sour apple. It dissolves just fine though, so I wouldn't expect mixing with coffee to do anything there. I just put it in a cup with little water and drink it, then drink something to wash the taste out of my mouth and go on with my day.

I would recommend just mixing that stuff with water and drinking it separately from your coffee. If you really want to flavor it, use a little flavor pack. My grocery store sells tons of packs like that for super cheap.

I actually did some research on supplements that can help the liver recently for an alcoholic family member. Here is what I found,

Milk Thistle

Multiple studies from Europe suggest benefits of oral milk thistle for cirrhosis. In studies up to five years long, milk thistle slightly improved liver function and decreased the number of deaths in people with liver disease. Although these results are promising, most studies have been poorly designed. Better research is necessary before a strong conclusion can be made. Source

Recommended Dosing For cirrhosis, 160-800 milligrams of silymarin (Main ingredient of Milk Thistle) has been taken by mouth in 2-3 divided doses daily by mouth for up to two years.

Tudca

The next supplement is Tudca (Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid) is known to help reduce liver enzyme levels and liver re-genesis. From my understanding this supplement is much more effective and has better studies than Milk Thistle. 10-13mg daily has once been shown to improve liver regenesis rates in a clinically ill population.

The decrease in liver enzymes associated with cholestasis is quite strong, and TUDCA is a reference drug for these effects. Source

An increase in hepatocyte regeneration has been noted with TUDCA in persons with liver disease. Source

Turmeric

Turmeric may be another supplement that can help regenerate the liver. Studies have shown regenerative properties and lower enzyme levels in individuals with liver damage. Source

Here is a link from Amazon for the fermented kind that was used in the main study, Link.

I'm assuming you're in the UK. I'm not familiar with UK or EU brands but if you can get NOW I would suggest NOW Adam. At current exchange rate $14 USD is the same as £ 9 . But if you can't get that or want other options there should be something along those longs and that price.++

NOW Adam, the 90 tablet size is 16USD ( £ 12 ) on amazon

Nature's plus is an excellent multi at that price point too £ 11.5

Other excellent brands are;

Solgar Earth Source and VM75

VM 75 is usally around £ 9

this next one if the same as the above (VM-75) but with Iron if you need that

I've seen some really good German brands but can't recall the brand names off the top of my head. Seems like Germans make some nice herbal and multivitamin supplements though

I appreciate the reply. I looked through your posts and I noticed you have knowledge on different curcumin formulations. I have some additional questions if you would be so kind.

Do you recommend Longvida or Theracumin for cognitive benefits (improved mood & memory)?

The most recent study I found in regards to improved memory and mood is https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1064748117305110?via%3Dihub

Subjects were given 90mg/day. However, your suggested dosage for Curcubrain works out to be 320mg/day. The cost of 4 doses of Curcubrain works out to be approx the cost of 2 doses of Theracumin Double Strength

In light of the above, which would you recommend? I would appreciate any additional info on where I could find dosage recommendations or is it based on personal experience?

Much thanks!

EDIT: In addition to my own personal use, I am also looking into curcumin for my ageing parents (late 70's) to slow/prevent cognitive decline and improve overall brain functions.

I found this: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1%2C3-Dimethylamylamine&_sacat=0&_odkw=1%2C3-dimethyalmaine&_osacat=0

But thats freakin expensive. If you're from the US they have DMAA on

If you want JUST DMAA, lockoutsupplements will be cheapest. If you're going to be purchasing more things in the future, I suggest you bundle it in with the DMAA order to save on shipping.

Edit: Anekin007's link has it for about 913mg/dollar. And its like $2 shipping. Would recommend unless you don't have a milligram scale as it is in free form powder, not in capsules. A scale like this is effective and pretty good with the money: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012TDNAM/

u/herman_gill · 6 pointsr/Supplements

In the future I would buy

this magnesium and this d3+k2 instead. Cheaper and the magnesium's likely more effective.

You can take all three in the morning if you want. Magnesium isn't inherently sedating, it's relaxing.

The ones I would personally avoid is taking D or ALCAR at night, everything else is fair game.

If you wanna do D, K, ALCAR in the morning, and Mag at night, that's perfectly fine also.

Also if you're at all interested in taking a multivitamin instead, I'd recommend Legion Triumph (disclosure: I've had some input on it's design, not receiving any royalties or anything like that, though).

Another vote for gelatin and subsequently collagen.

Great Lakes - Collagen/Gelatin here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Lakes-Unflavored-Gelatin-Kosher/dp/B0008D6WBA/ref=pd_sim_0_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0WJG67HCHTYK5P44570E

Heat 300g of frozen raspberries in lemon juice. Blend/process with 7 tablespoons of the gelatin. It takes your body a good while to digest, I add seeds etc and it makes a great slow burning breakfast - it's pretty versatile.

You'll see a green tin floating around that amazon page too. That one is a little more expensive but it dissolves nicely in water; if you can't be bothered with cooking up batches of jelly.

I supplemented gelatin whilst recovering from a broken back and I attribute a sizeable amount of credit for my successful recovery to it. I continued with it after recovering from injury and it does wonders for my knees, post endurance cycling!

Does of course come in capsules - thought it'd be useful for you to know your options.

u/Carmack · 1 pointr/Supplements

Hey there, I don't consume dairy either. :)

You should be aiming for about 1g of calcium a day and a minimum of 500IU of vitamin D3 per day. If you're getting that, my research says you're good.

I get my calcium through 4g / day of this:

Freeda Kosher Calcium Phosphate Powder 16 OZ. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GZRHVIQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rQkQyb9KXHTXX

And my D3 through one capsule a day of this:

Doctor's Best Best Vegan D3 Vegetarian Capsules, 60 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E816ROU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FRkQybFRKYT0N

Way easier than milk. :)

u/granmasutensil · 0 pointsr/Supplements

Definitely. 6-9 000 IU for sure if what you have is in 3000 IU a dose. It's pretty common for people to do 15-20 000 IU for several days to a week starting out when they are address low vitamin D also. It's better to take vitamin D earlier in the day too if you can, some people it affects their sleep taken right before bed.

Here is a good product you might want to consider when you reorder your D3.

Hey, thank you for the reply. I settled on Best Naturals Fucoxanthin from amazon but am open to ordering from a more reliable supplier if you know of one.

To you or anyone who reads this thread, not a single company I contacted about fucoxanthin would give me a COA but Best Naturals has other products reviewed on Labdoor and Consumer Labs and each review comes back with Best Naturals products at the very least having some of their stated supplement (although dosages weren't always accurate) and passing purity tests, so it's what I've settled on.

u/nyrangers3030 · 1 pointr/Supplements

Awesome I'm going to pick up the pure synergy powder. Do you know if it would be safe to take alongside the legion triumph multivitamins that another user recommended?

http://www.amazon.com/Multivitamin-Supplement-Increase-Performance-Servings/dp/B00L87YFL4

or would it be too much of certain ingredients?

u/dreiter · 1 pointr/Supplements

First note that when reading recommendations about blood values note that there are two common measurements, nmol/L and ng/mL. nmol/L is simply 2.5x the ng/mL value so you can do the math to convert between them depending on which source you are reading.

5000 IU is definitely safe although you could just take it every-other-day instead of every day. This RCT found 2000 IU to reach 100 nmol/L (40 ng/mL) and this meta-analysis suggests 4000+ IU to reach 86 nmol/L (34 ng/mL).

Examine has a good page on vitamin D research but the TL;DR is that the required dietary intakes are somewhere between 1000-8000 IU depending on sun exposure, age, weight, latitude, and time of year. Note that supplemental D absorption will also increase if taken with a source of fat instead of on an empty stomach.

Doctors Best has a good 2500 IU vegan option while Naturelo has 2500 and 5000 IU vegan options.

u/Tadstole · 2 pointsr/Supplements

Man I wish I knew all this before I bought the men's one a day! I get paid today so I'll definately buy something better. But for the Legion Triumph vitamin [http://www.amazon.com/LEGION-Triumph-Multivitamin-All-One/dp/B00L87YFL4] 8 capsules is one serving?? Seems like it's overkill or something no? I'm willing to spend however much I need to as I believe quality makes price worth it, so you would honestly recommend these to someone? I see the only bad reviews are stating the bad taste which is no big deal.

u/ryeguy · 1 pointr/Supplements

Is there any downside to taking something like 700mg of it every day? My multi already gives me 100mg, and this is the absolute best priced magnesium I could find, but they're huge. I only ask because it's quite a bit easier to split pills into halves instead of thirds.

I take it around 2 hours after fully waking up and its the best.

Powdered caffeine isn't something you want to guess the dose on. A scoop is at best a guess since you don't know how dense the powder is.

You can get a milligram scale from Amazon for $20 and do it by weight.

My grocery store has like 100 different types of low calorie (like 5cal/serving) drink mixes from jolly ranchers, crush, Hawaiian punch, crystal light, etc. They're cheap. I use them to flavor water and my custom pre-workouts. Like this one https://www.amazon.com/Jolly-Rancher-Singles-Sugar-Green/dp/B00CULCEW4

Thanks. I'll take your recommendation on the caffeine. Regarding the curcumin, the serving size is 3 pills, I am already taking less. This is the one I am using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DBTFO98. It's for aiding in recovery, although I wouldn't be able to tell how much is helping.

Have you been prescribed the standard therapies? Calcium channel blockers, or maybe PDE-5 inhibitors?

It might be worth looking into beet root powder just to increase your nitrate levels. Or eat ~500g per day of nitrate veggies specifically. That's about the only supplement I can recommend.

u/intheaterssoon · 1 pointr/Supplements

I have been taking both of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0797SJ88Y

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G2NLKR3

There is no huge rhyme or reason for those two. I think I saw Rhonda Patrick recommend one and I forget exactly why I chose the other. I figured I'd mix it up and take two different types.

I take two capsules of each for a total of 510mg per day. From what I've read around 500mg is a pretty standard therapeutic dose.

Got this scale for 6 months now and it's been very accurate. I measure all my supplements with it. You get more for your money with powder. The bottle of primaforce won't last more than 2 weeks for most people. For the same price powder will last atleast 6 months.

Only one place and I see someone has linked you. At only 50mg per use, I have basically a lifetime supply. I also jumped on my AMP citrate supply when I could smell the FDA ban coming. If you do order it get alot. Only a matter of time before it disappears. It says it has an expiration date. But I'm not buying into that. Keep it in a cool dry place. Again I stress the importance of a .001 gram scale. It's a dangerous powder. Don't get alpha male cocky with it. Be safe.

The scale I use. It works great American Weigh Scales GEMINI-20 Portable MilliGram Scale, 20 by 0.001 G https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012TDNAM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_27X4wb71C64TQ
