I like this theory! I always got the vibe of early 2000s live action shows from the footage myself, especially with the fashion, but that might just be me.

For now I'll add this: the anti-vacc book A Shot in the Dark was published in 1991 and the cover is... pink. This could be a coincidence, but I remember another poster talking about an anti-vacc book that was pink as well, and pink is an important color to the series.
