SX OS, you did it! I'll be testing this out later today, but already this seems to perfect for the community. Already have a USB 3.0 just for this. I also have an external HDD that I might try this with. ;)

Shows only "Read speeds, up to 150MB/s"... so even though it's not the theoretical speeds. It's clear that usb HDD is much faster than micro sd.

EDIT 3: Great point about USB speed limitations. Since the switch still runs USB 2. Max speed is around 60MB/s.

If you're interested in getting into soldering, get a few cheap kits like battery powered light up gadgets and the like. They're usually around like $10, so it's not that big a deal if you break them while you're learning to solder. Next, a hands free solder station and a proper soldering iron make all the difference. The hands free option is the cheapest of the cheap and the iron is just a personal preference. Being able to control the heat of your iron and keep your board accessible is super useful. I ruined a couple of PS2s being cock-sure with an $8 iron and no practice.

This product can wirelessly or wired connect just about every single first party (and quite a few third party) controllers I've tried to switch, pc, ps3. has modes for emulating xbox controller on pc and can sync pro controllers ps3 controllers and ps4 controllers alike. Not a shill just making sure people know theres an easier way to use controllers with the switch, been using this for about 4 months and have loved it

I know I'm a couple of days late to the convo, but it's worth mentioning that a Raspberry Pi 3B+ ($35) and a Super Nintendo case ($10-20), runs you about 60-70 bucks when you include SNES controllers.

But that'll let you play NES, SNES, PS1, Sega, N64, and titles from just about any other retro console as well (including Wolf 3D and Marathon from PC). It's also super simple to set up. Use a simple 1 click PC app to put OS onto SD card, copy some ROMs onto SD card, put the card into your RPi, put the RPi into the SNES case, and plug in a controller.

(optional: use bluetooth controllers, set up wifi, plug in ethernet cord, keep the roms on your PC and have your RPi stream the roms over the network, use keyboard and mouse, use the desktop interface with Chrome and all that jazz)

is the dongle anything more than a usb-c thumb drive? any chance in grabbing something like this and using it for Atmosphere once it's released? granted it's not much cheaper (unless you go with the 32gb) and will require some configuration, but it does have the added convenience of a usb 3.0 connector as well as the ability to be used as a normal everyday thumb drive.

I found an adapter that works wirelessly with xbox 1 to switch. It actually allows you to use an xbox 1 controller with any system. Its pretty great.

The quality is hit or miss, it seems. Some people in the reviews have had slightly warped shells that don't close all the way. With some, it's just cosmetic, with a few, it's caused issues with rumble feeling faint. Most seem to be have success with them, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

If you're talking about this, then yeah I already saw it. However, I was hoping to do something wireless, as well as I'm kinda curious how to go about it myself as a project, I guess. Just looking to see if there were any resources to pour over.

For me It was listed for $63 and the Samsung U3 of the same size for 73$ . I would say the extra 10 bucks are a good option considering the tests of Skullator

Could you use a converter to plug in a wired Xbox controller?

You'd still have to play in handheld mode to remove the motion control requirement but at least you could have the switch on a table and interact with a normal controller.

I don't think basstop is to blame for this. I bought the clear purple one and replaced my switch and joycons and had the ZL circuit button break in the same way as well. I ordered a broken joy con off ebay to replace it and it broke the exact same way. So I ended up buying a 3rd party made one which worked fine but I think nintendo is to blame here not Basstop.

as far as dismantling goes, the switch seems to be the easiest one in recent time.

I got a switch on Black Friday and it had a serial number of XAW7001790X which could've been patched according to this.

I ended up going to Amazon and buying an RCM jig anyway to see if I can get into RCM mode. Worse case was that the switch I got was patched and I would be out $9.

Got my jig in today and followed the steps here and was able to inject the fusee-test.bin payload successfully so now I know I have an unpatched switch!

TL;DR The only way to know for sure that you have an unpatched switch is to try and access RCM and inject a payload.

EDIT: If you downgrade, you'll definately have sleep issues as there are burnt fuses from upgrading to 6.2. Also there's always a risk of messing up your switch if you ground the pins improperly. The "safest" method is to just buy a RCM jig.
