If you're looking for a solution that doesn't involve confronting the roommate, upgrade to a better sleep mask (and supplement with ear plugs if needed.) This is the best sleep mask on the market: https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Master-smblu01-Mask/dp/B0015NZ6FK It even covers your ears to muffle sound.
